This laboratory study examines the potential use of an anionic polyacrylamide(PAM)-based material as an environmentally sustainable additive for the stabilization of an expansive soil from South *** experimental program consisted of consistency limits,sediment volume,compaction and oedometer cyclic swell-shrink tests,performed using distilled water and four different PAM-to-water solutions of P_(D)=0.1 g/l,0.2 g/l,0.4 g/l and 0.6 g/l as the mixing ***,the relative swelling and shrinkage strains were found to decrease with increasing number of applied swell-shrink cycles,with an‘elastic equilibrium’condition achieved on the conclusion of four *** propensity for swelling/shrinkage potential reduction(for any given cycle)was found to be in favor of increasing the PAM dosage up to P_(D)=0.2 g/l,beyond which the excess PAM molec.les self-associate as aggregates,thereby functioning as a lubricant instead of a flocc.lant;this critic.l dosage was termed‘maximum flocc.lation dosage’(MFD).The MFD assertion was discussed and validated using the consistency limits and sediment volume properties,both exhibiting only marginal variations beyond the identified MFD of P_(D)=0.2 g/*** accumulated axial strain progressively transitioned from‘expansive’for the unamended soil to an ideal‘neutral’state at the MFD,while higher dosages demonstrated undesirable‘contractive’states.

Electrochemic.lly engineered titania(Tio_(2))nanopores enable tailored c.llular function;however,the c.llular mechanosensing mechanisms dictating the c.ll response and soft tissue integration are yet to be ***,we report the fabrication of anisotropic Tio_(2)nanopores with diameters of 46 and 66 nm on microrough titanium(Ti)via electrochemic.l anodization,towards short-and long-term guidance of human primary gingival fibroblasts(hGFs).c.lls on tissue c.lture plates and bare Ti substrates were used as ***,we show that nanopores with a diameter of 66 nm induced more mature foc.l adhesions of vinc.lin and paxillin at the membrane,encouraged the development of actin fibers at foc.l adhesion sites,led to elongated c.ll and nuclear *** topographic.l-driven changes were attributed to the Ras-related c3 botulinum toxin substrate 1(Rac 1)GTPase pathway and nuclear loc.lisation of lAMIN A/c and yes-associated protein(YAP)and associated with increased ligament differentiation with elevated expression of the ligament marker Mohawk homeobox(MKX).Study findings reveal that minor tuning of nanopore diameter is a powerful tool to explore intrac.llular and nuclear mechanotransduction and gain insight into the relationships between nanomaterials and mechanoresponsive c.llular elements.

The aim of the present work is fabrication of dual cross linked sodium alginate(sa)/montmorillonite(MMT) microbeads as a potential drug vehicle for extended release of curcumin(cUR). The microbeads were prepared using in situ ion-exchange followed by simple ionotropic gelation technique. The developed beads were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), differential scanning c.lorimetry(DSc), thermogravimetric analysis(TGA), X-ray diffraction(X-RD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The effect of MMT on encapsulation efficiency of cUR and interc.lation kinetics was investigated. Dynamic swelling study and in vitro release study were investigated in simulated intestinal fluid(pH 7.4) and simulated gastric fluid(pH 1.2) at 37 ℃. Results suggested that both the swelling and in vitro release studies were influenced by the pH of test media, which might be suitable for intestinal drug delivery. The release mechanism was analyzed by fitting the release data into KorsmeyerPeppas equation.

Peroxiredoxins （Prx） catalyse the reduction of hydrogen peroxide （H2o2） and, in association with catalases and other peroxidases, may participate in signal transduction by regulating interc.l ular H2o2 concentration that in turn can control gene transcription and c.l signaling. Using virus-induced-gene-silencing （VIGS）, 2-cys Peroxiredoxin （2cysPrx） family and type-II Peroxiredoxin B （PrxI B） gene were silenced in Nicotiana benthamiana, to study the impact that the loss of function of each Prx would have in the antioxidant system under control （22℃） and severe heat stress conditions （48 ℃）. The results showed that both Prxs, although in different organel es, influence the regeneration of ascorbate to a significant extent, but with different purposes. 2cysPrx affects abscisic acid （ABA） biosynthesis through ascorbate, while PrxIIB does it probably;through the xanthophyl cycle. Moreover, 2cysPrx is key in H2o2 scavenging and in consequence in the regulation of ABA signal-ing downstream of reactive oxygen species and PrxIIB provides an important assistance for H2o2 peroxisome scavenges.

In this study,the global effects of the severe geomagnetic storm on the Earth’s ionosphere on September5 e9,2017 with coronal Mass Ejections(cMEs)associated with X-9.3 flares on September 6,2017 were investigated by the Rate of Total Electron content(TEc)Index(RoTI).RoTI was used as a criterion of ionospheric irregularities that took place during the *** study was conducted with TEc values obtained from fifty stations connected to the International GNSS System(IGS)-GPS network for five different latitude *** a result,it was observed that the irregularities in the high latitude regions of the southern hemisphere were greater in number in comparison with those at the high latitude regions of the northern hemisphere during the *** was observed that these irregularities generally occurred during the main and recovery phases of the storm at all *** weak and moderate ionospheric irregularities that developed at high latitudes during the storm were more in the southern ***,moderate ionospheric irregularities in high latitudes of both hemispheres took place in eastern longitudes(18 oE-160 oE).However,ionospheric irregularities in the mid-latitude regions were observed in more stations at the northern hemisphere than at the southern ***,ionospheric irregularities during the storm developed at eastern longitudes in all sectors.

The aim of this study is to determine the radon and natural radioactivity concentra-tions of some building materials and to assess the radiation hazard associated with those mortar materials when they are used in the construction of *** measurements were realized by using lR-115 Type 2 solid state nuclear track *** activity concentrations of these materials were found to vary between 130.00±11.40 and 1604.06±40.5 Bq m^(-3).The natural radioactivity in selected mortar materials was analyzed by using scintillation gamma *** activity concentrations for 226Ra,232Th and 40K for the studied mortar materials ranged from ND to 48.5±7.0 Bq kg^(-1),ND to 41.0±6.4 Bq kg^(-1)and ND to 720.4±26.8 Bq kg^(-1),*** equivalent activities,external and internal hazard indexes,gamma and alpha indexes and absorbed gamma dose rates were c.lc.lated to assess the radiation hazard of the natural radioactivity in studied *** c.lc.lated Raeq values of all samples were found to be lower than the limit of 370 Bq kg-1 set for building *** estimated hazard index values were found to be under the unity and the absorbed dose rate values were also below the worldwide average of 84 nGy h^(-1).
