Track-Pattern-Based characteristics of Extratropical Transitioning Tropical cyclones in the Western North Pacific

Based on the Regional Specialized Meteorological center(RSMc)Tokyo-Typhoon center best-track data and the NcEP-NcAR reanalysis dataset,extratropical transitioning(ET)tropical cyclones(ETcs)over the western North Pacific(WNP)during 1951–2021 are classified into six clusters using the fuzzy c-means clustering method(FcM)according to their track *** characteristics of the six hard-clustered ETcs with the highest membership coefficient are *** tropical cyclones(Tcs)that were assigned to clusters c2,c5,and c6 made landfall over eastern Asian countries,which severely threatened these *** landfalling Tcs,93.2%completed their ET after landfall,whereas 39.8%of ETcs completed their transition within one *** frequency of ETcs over the WNP has decreased in the past four decades,wherein cluster c5 demonstrated a significant decrease on both interannual and interdecadal timescales with the expansion and intensification of the western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH).This large-scale circulation pattern is favorable for c2 and causes it to become the dominant track pattern,owning to it containing the largest number of intensifying ETcs among the six clusters,a number that has increased insignificantly over the past four *** surface roughness variation and three-dimensional background circulation led to c5 containing the maximum number of landfalling Tcs and a minimum number of intensifying *** results will facilitate a better understanding of the spatiotemporal distributions of ET events and associated environment background fields,which will benefit the effective monitoring of these events over the WNP.

Boosting sodium-storage properties of hierarchical Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)@c micro-flower cathodes by tiny cr doping:The effect of“four ounces moving a thousand pounds”

Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)(NVP),as a great potential cathode candidate for Na-ion batteries(NIBs),has attracted enormous interest due to its three-dimensional(3D)large open framework for convenient Na+transport,yet its practical application is still limited by its inferior electron conductivity and sluggish Na+diffusion ***,the tiny cr doped hierarchical NVP micro-flower cathodes(i.e.,Na_(3)V_(2-x)crx(PO_(4))_(3)@c,x≤0.1),which are self-assembled with single-crystal nanoflake subunits in-situ coated with carbon nano-shell,are designed and fabricated via a scalable *** optimized cathode,i.e.,Na_(3)V_(1.94)cr_(0.06)(PO_(4))_(3)@c(NVcP-6),was endowed with more electro-active Na(2)sites and higher electronic/ionic conductivity for efficient sodium *** from these competitive merits,the NVcP-6,when evaluated as a cathode towards NIBs,exhibits an ultrahigh-rate capability of 99.8 mAh·g^(-1)at 200 c and superior stability of 82.2%over 7300 cycles at 50 ***,the NVcP-6 based full NIBs display remarkable electrochemical properties in terms of both high-rate capacities and long-duration cycling properties at different temperatures(-20–50°c).The contribution,i.e.,the design of“four ounces can move a thousand pounds”,here will promote the practical industrial application of NVP towards advanced NIBs.

Membrane technology has become one of the most promising separation technologies for its energy saving, high separation efficiency, environmental friendliness, and economic feasibility. covalent organic frameworks(cOFs) with intrinsically high porosity, controllable pore size, uniform pore size distribution and long-range ordered channel structure, have emerged as next-generation materials to fabricate advanced separation membranes. This feature article summarizes some latest studies in the development of pure cOF membranes in our lab, including their fabrication and applications in chemical separations. Finally, current challenges facing high-performance cOF separation membranes are discussed.

Effects of gravel on the water absorption characteristics and hydraulic parameters of stony soil

The eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains in china are a typical mountainous region of soil and gravel,where gravel could affect the water movement process in the *** study focused on the effects of different gravel contents on the water absorption characteristics and hydraulic parameters of stony *** stony soil samples were collected from the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains in April 2023 and used as the experimental materials to conduct a one-dimensional horizontal soil column absorption *** experimental groups with gravel contents of 0%,10%,20%,30%,40%,and 50%were established to determine the saturated hydraulic conductivity(k_(s)),saturated water content(θ_(s)),initial water content(θ_(i)),and retention water content(θ_(r)),and explore the changes in the wetting front depth and cumulative absorption volume during the absorption *** Philip model was used to fit the soil absorption process and determine the soil water absorption *** the length of the characteristic wetting front depth,shape coefficient,empirical parameter,inverse intake suction and soil water suction were derived from the van Genuchten ***,the hydraulic parameters mentioned above were used to fit the soil water characteristic curves,unsaturated hydraulic conductivity(k_(θ))and specific water capacity(c(h)).The results showed that the wetting front depth and cumulative absorption volume of each treatment gradually decreased with increasing gravel *** with control check treatment with gravel content of 0%,soil water absorption rates in the treatments with gravel contents of 10%,20%,30%,40%,and 50%decreased by 11.47%,17.97%,25.24%,29.83%,and 42.45%,*** the gravel content increased,inverse intake suction gradually increased,and shape coefficient,k_(s),θ_(s),andθ_(r)gradually *** the same soil water content,soil water suction and k_(θ)gradually decreased with increasing gravel *** the same soil water s

Synthesis of Ultralow-Density Polyethylene Elastomers Using Triarylnaphthyl Iminopyridyl Ni(II)catalysts

Recently,the chain-walking ethylene polymerization strategy has garnered widespread attention as an efficient and straightforward method for preparing polyolefin *** this study,a series of 2,4,8-triarylnaphthyl iminopyridyl nickel catalysts were synthesized and used in ethylene *** catalysts demonstrated moderate catalytic activity(105 g mol^(−1) h^(−1)),producing high-molecular-weight(up to 145.5 kg/mol)polyethylene materials with high branching degrees(75−95/1000c)and correspondingly low melting *** analysis using 13c NMR spectroscopy revealed that the polyethylenes primarily featured methyl and long-chain *** testing of the polyethylene samples obtained from catalysts Ni1−Ni3 exhibited moderate stress at break(4.64−6.97 MPa)coupled with a very high strain at break(1650−3752%),indicating their very good ***,these polyethylenes showcased great elastic recovery abilities,with strain recovery values ranging from 72%to 85%.In contrast,the polyethylene produced by Ni4 displayed notably inferior tensile strength(0.16 MPa)and tensile recovery(43%).To the best of our knowledge,this study represents the inaugural utilization of a nickel iminopyridyl catalyst in the preparation of a polyethylene thermoplastic elastomer.

Separation density prediction of geldart A^(-)dense medium in gas-solid fluidized bed coal beneficiators

Gas-solid Fluidized Bed coal Beneficiator(GFBcB)process is a crucial dry coal beneficiation fluidization *** work employs the GFBcB process alongside a novel Geldart A^(-)dense medium,consisting of Geldart A magnetite particles and Geldart c ultrafine coal,to separate small-size separated objects in the *** effects of various operational conditions,including the volume fraction of ultrafine coal,the gas velocity,the separated objects size,and the separation time,were investigated on the GFBcB's separation *** results indicated that the probable error for 6∼3 mm separated objects could be controlled within 0.10 g/cm^(3).compared to the traditional Geldart B/D dense medium,the Geldart A/A^(-)dense medium exhibited better size-dependent separation performance with an overall probable error 0.04∼0.12 g/cm^(3).Moreover,it achieved a similar separation accuracy to the Geldart B/D dense medium fluidized bed with different external energy for the small-size object *** work furthermore validated a separation density prediction model based on theoretical derivation,available for both Geldart B/D dense medium and Geldart A/A^(-)dense medium at different operational conditions.

Synergistic enhancement of ce-ZnO/g-c_(3)N_(4)photocatalytic performance using N,O-bis-vacancy induction and S-scheme heterojunctions

The photocatalytic decontamination of organic pollutants is an environmentally friendly and efficient water treatment *** introduction of vacancies,heterojunctions,and doping can enhance the performance of photocatalysts for such *** this study,N,O double-vacancy ce-ZnO/g-c_(3)N_(4)S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts were prepared,It is found that the electron separation and transfer efficiencies are considerably improved by the presence of nitrogen vacancies in graphitic ca rbon nitride(g-c_(3)N_(4))and oxygen vacancies in ZnO,in addition to the S-scheme heterojunction created between the two *** the degradation of methylene blue and ciprofloxacin,the degradation rates exhibited by ce-ZnO/g-c_(3)N_(4)are significantly higher than those of the g=c_(3)N_(4)/ZnO *** remarkable photocatalytic performance of ce-ZnO/g-c_(3)N_(4)may result from three key factors;(ⅰ)ce doping,which produces impurity energy levels;(ⅱ)the generation of electron capture centres by the N and O vacancies;and(ⅲ)the synergistic effect of the S-type heterojunction formed at the interface between the two materials,This study therefore provides new approaches for the use of doping,vacancies,and heterojunctions to induce the efficient degradation of organic pollutants.

Simultaneously enhanced electrochemical performance and air stability of Ni-rich cathode with a modified washing process

Water washing has been regarded as one of the most effective strategies to remove surface residual lithium of nickel-rich layered oxides for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,the loss of lattice lithium during the water washing process deteriorates the electrochemical performances and air ***,washing the LiNi_(0.90)co_(0.05)Al_(0.02)O_(2)(NcA) with ammonium dihydrogen phosphate(NH_(4)H_(2)PO_(4)) solution has been proposed to simultaneously enhance electrochemical performances and air stability,in which in-situ generated Li_(3)PO_(4) coating layer on surface of NcA can suppress the loss of lattice ***,as a fast ionic conductor,Li_(3)PO_(4) coating layer on NcA can prevent the direct contact with electrolyte/*** a result,the NH_(4)H_(2)PO_(4) solution washed NcA cathode can deliver a high capacity of131.9 mAh·g^(-1) at 10.0c rate as well as impressive cycle stability with a capacity retention of 83.1% after 100 cycles at 1.0c,much higher than those of water washed NcA(WS-NcA) *** exposed in air for 7 days,the NH_(4)H_(2)PO_(4) solution washed NcA electrode can more effectively maintain the structural integrity as well as the electrochemical performances than water-washed *** work provides a simple and effective approach to enhance the cycle stability and air stability of Nickel-rich cathode materials.

Precise regulation of the phase transformation for pyrolusite during the reduction roasting process

The mechanism involved in the phase transformation process of pyrolusite (MnO_(2)) during roasting in a reducing atmosphere was systematically elucidated in this study,with the aim of effectively using low-grade complex manganese ore *** to single-factor experiment results,the roasted product with a divalent manganese (Mn^(2+)) distribution rate of 95.30% was obtained at a roasting time of 25 min,a roasting temperature of 700℃,a cO concentration of 20at%,and a total gas volume of 500 mL·min^(-1),in which the manganese was mainly in the form of manganosite (MnO).Scanning electron microscopy and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller theory demonstrated the microstructural evolution of the roasted product and the gradual reduction in the pyrolusite ore from the surface to the core Thermodynamic calculations,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and X-ray diffractometry analyses determined that the phase transformation of pyrolusite followed the order of MnO_(2)→Mn_(2)O_(3)→Mn_(3)O_(4)→MnO phase by phase,and the reduction of manganese oxides in each valence state proceeded simultaneously.
