cO_2 adsorption using TiO_2 composite polymeric membranes:A kinetic study

cO2is the main greenhouse gas which causes global climatic changes on larger scale. Many techniques have been utilised to capture cO2. Membrane gas separation is a fast growing cO2 capture technique, particularly gas separation by composite membranes. The separation of cO2 by a membrane is not just a process to physically sieve out of cO2 through the controlled membrane pore size. It mainly depends upon diffusion and solubility of gases, particularly for composite dense membranes. The blended components in composite membranes have a high capability to adsorb cO2. The adsorption kinetics of the gases may directly affect diffusion and solubility. In this study, we have investigated the adsorption behaviour of cO2 in pure and composite membranes to explore the complete understanding of diffusion and solubility of cO2 through membranes. Pure cellulose acetate（cA） and cellulose acetatetitania nanoparticle（cA-TiO2） composite membranes were fabricated and characterised using SEM and fTIR analysis. The results indicated that the blended cA-TiO2 membrane adsorbed more quantity of cO2 gas as compared to pure cA membrane. The high cO2 adsorption capacity may enhance the diffusion and solubility of cO2 in the cA-TiO2 composite membrane, which results in a better cO2 separation. The experimental data was modelled by Pseudo first-order, pseudo second order and intra particle diffusion *** to correlation factor R2, the Pseudo second order model was fitted well with experimental data. The intra particle diffusion model revealed that adsorption in dense membranes was not solely consisting of intra particle diffusion.

Mobility of Arsenic and Heavy Metals in a Sandy-Loam Textured and carbonated Soil

The continued effect of the pyrite-tailing oxidation on the mobility of arsenic, lead, zinc, cadmium, and copper was studied in a carbonated soil under natural conditions, with the experimental plot preserved with a layer of tailing covering the soil during three years. The experimental area is located in Southern Spain and was affected by a pyrite-mine spill. The climate in the area is typically Mediterranean, which determines the rate of soil alteration and element mobility. The intense alteration processes that occurred in the soil during three years caused important changes in its morphology and a strong degradation of the main soil properties. In this period, lead concentrated in the first 5 mm of the soil, with concentrations higher than 1500 mg kg?1, mainly associated to the neoformation of plumbojarosite. Arsenic was partially leached from the first 5 mm and mainly concentrated between 5–10 mm in the soil, with maximum values of 1239 mg kg-1; the retention of arsenates was related to the neoformation of iron hydroxysulfates (jarosite, schwertmannite) and oxyhydroxides (goethite, ferrihydrite), both with a variable degree of crystallinity. The mobility of Zn, cd, and cu was highly affected by pH, producing a stronger leaching in depth; their retention was related to the forms of precipitated aluminium and, in the case of cu, also to the neoformation of hydroxysulfate.

Assessment of cO_(2)storage prospect based on physical properties of Rio Bonito formation rock units

The physical properties of the rock units associated with the Rio Bonito formation are presented in this study with the focus on modelling reservoir quality based on petrophysics-derived parameters to evaluate cO_(2)storage *** involves the modelling of the reservoir depths,thicknesses,flow zone indicators(fZI),and effective permeability(Keff)and presenting the cO_(2)storage efficiency factors peculiar to the rock units of the study *** results presented by this study for the stated objectives are not quite common in the *** values range from 200 mD to higher than 2000 mD,and fZI values are generally above 1.0 mm and up to 13.0 mm within the portions covered by the drilled *** sandstone units recorded are up to 20 m thick in some *** Keff and fZI models indicate the sandstone reservoirs as permeable units to support the injection and circulation of cO_(2)within the potential reservoir units of the Rio Bonio formation across São Paulo *** from some points in the southeastern part of the study location,where the Rio Bonito are delineated at depths less than 800 m(minimum cO_(2)storage depth based on best practices),other portions are deeper,ranging from 950 m to 3500 ***-bedded layers will affect the integrity of the rocks as cO_(2)storage tanks or reservoir seals/traps/overburden within the *** bed thicknesses are up to 20 m in some ***,hybrid cO_(2)reservoir units are feasible,especially in portions where thin siltstone layers are sandwiched between sandstone units to provide considerable thicknesses based on cO_(2)storage *** current study shows that useable areas considering reservoir thickness,depth,and other physical qualities will significantly control the cO_(2)storage efficiency of the study *** studies featuring a detailed geophysical exploration of the site to confirm the availability and saturations of preexisting fluid(hydrocarbon and water)are encouraged

In the last decade,extensive research has been carried out on the microstructural behavior of high-entropy alloys(HEA),for which the in-situ formation of nanoparticles has been ***,studies of the incorporation of nanoparticles in HEA have been rarely *** this work,the addition of zinc oxide nanoparticles(ZnO nP)as reinforcement in a cocrfeMoni high-entropy alloy matrix,as well as the morphological,structural,and microstructural evolution of composites synthesized via powder metallurgy,were *** electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis were performed in order to study the microstructural and phase characterization of the *** sintering,it was found that the ZnO nP addition(0.5 wt%,1 wt%and 2 wt%)had a significant influence on the microstructure and hardness of the cocrfeMoni high-entropy *** bonding among metal particles was promoted with the additions of Zn O nP.A reduction in porosity as a function of ZnO nP content was also *** microhardness results showed that the composite reached its highest reinforcement in bulk samples with 1 wt%ZnO nP(HV 870),which represented a 20%improvement over the unreinforced HEA matrix.

The effect of the Al-6ce-3La（AcL） on the microstructural behavior of the Al7075 was investigated. Materials were synthesized by mechanical alloying with variation in the AcL content and milling time. Products were characterized and studied in the as-milled condition and mechanically evaluated after sintering. The synergetic effect of milling time and AcL content in the modified materials led to a reduction in the particle size. Results from electron microscopy showed a homogeneous dispersion of ce/La phases up to 20 wt.% of AcL content after 10 h of milling. Mechanical evaluation under compressive test showed an improved performance for those alloys reinforced with 0.2 wt.% and 0.5 wt.% of AcL.

Dipole and generalized oscillator strength derived electronic properties of an endohedral hydrogen atom embedded in a Debye-Huckel plasma

We report electronic properties of a hydrogen atom encaged by an endohedral cavity under the influence of a weak plasma interaction. Weimplement a finite-difference approach to solve the Schrodinger equation for a hydrogen atom embedded in an endohedral cavity modeled by theWoods-Saxon potential with well depth V0, inner radius R0, thickness D, and smooth parameter g. The plasma interaction is described by aDebye-Hu¨ckel screening potential that characterizes the plasma in terms of a Debye screening length lD. The electronic properties of theendohedral hydrogen atom are reported for selected endohedral cavity well depths, V0, and screening lengths, lD, that emulate differentconfinement and plasma conditions. We find that for low screening lengths, the endohedral cavity potential dominates over the plasma interaction by confining the electron within the cavity. for large screening lengths, a competition between both interactions is observed. We assessand report the photo-ionization cross section, dipole polarizability, mean excitation energy, and electronic stopping cross section as function of lD and V0. We find a decrease of the Generalized Oscillator Strength (GOS) when the final excitation is to an s state as the plasma screeninglength decreases. for a final excitation into a p state, we find an increase in the GOS as the endohedral cavity well-depth increases. for the caseof the electronic stopping cross section, we find that the plasma screening and endohedral cavity effects are larger in the low-to-intermediateprojectile energies for all potential well depths considered. Our results agree well to available theoretical and experimental data and are afirst step towards the understanding of dipole and generalized oscillator strength dependent properties of an atom in extreme conditions encagedby an endohedral cavity immersed in a plasma medium.

Sugar is important in daily food intake since it is used as food preservative and ***,is important to analyze the influence of sugar on the spectroscopic properties of the *** spectroscopy is proven to be useful and an efficient method for sugar detection as well as for future food quality ***,the lack of detection sensitivity in Terahertz Spectroscopy has prevented it from being used in a widespread spectroscopic analysis *** this paper,frequency Selective Surface(fSS)using the Terahertz Spectroscopy Time Domain Spectrum(THz-TDS)which operates at terahertz frequency range has been demonstrated for application of sugar *** fSS is designed with a circle slot structure and has been optimized in line with the molecular resonance of glucose and fructose at different level concentration at 1.98 THz and 1.80 THz,*** magnitude of glucose and sucrose is inversely proportional with the level of sugar *** realization of the fSS structure is using electron beam lithography and wet etching *** show that the fSS performance for glucose and sucrose reveal fair shifts in measured transmission magnitude from its original in cST by approximately 30%.The use of fabricated fSS with circle structure indicates that the concentration can be improved averagely at 25%for glucose and 13%for ***,it shows that the fSS circle structure combined with THz-TDS has the potential to become an alternative method for food sensing technology in the future.

In this paper, a system of fractional differential equations that model the synchronized bioluminescence behavior of a set of fireflies put on two spatial arrangements is presented; the alternative representation of these equations contains fractional operators of IAouvillc-caputo type. The objective of the model is to qualitatively recover synchronization and show that it is persistent. It is shown that the effort made by each firefly glow changes with respect to the number of male competitors and the distance between them. The conditions on biological parameters are interpreted.
