The Soft X-ray Imager(SXI)is part of the scientific payload of the Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)*** is a joint science mission between the European Space Agency(ESA)and the chinese Academy of Sciences(cAS)and is due for launch in *** is a compact X-ray telescope with a wide field-of-view(FOV)capable of encompassing large portions of Earth’s magnetosphere from the vantage point of the SMILE *** is sensitive to the soft X-rays produced by the Solar Wind charge eXchange(SWcX)process produced when heavy ions of solar wind origin interact with neutral particles in Earth’s *** provides a mechanism for boundary detection within the magnetosphere,such as the position of Earth’s magnetopause,because the solar wind heavy ions have a very low density in regions of closed magnetic field *** sensitivity of the SXI is such that it can potentially track movements of the magnetopause on timescales of a few minutes and the orbit of SMILE will enable such movements to be tracked for segments lasting many *** is led by the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom(UK)with collaborating organisations on hardware,software and science support within the UK,Europe,china and the United States.

Status and prospects for symmetric organic redox flow batteries

As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify, large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind, hydro, and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries, particularly those employing organic molecules, are positioned as a key technology for this purpose. This review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs) within this context. Unlike traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode, symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both electrodes. This review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design, and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. By providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics, the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems, as are opportunities for future development. This should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

Kinematics of whip spider pedipalps: a 3D comparative morpho-functional approach

Amblypygi are tropical and subtropical ambush predators that use elongated,raptorial pedipalps for different *** pedipalp use in predation and courtship has been explored in videography in vivo analyses,kinematic ex vivo examination of these appendages has not been ***,we rectify this lack of data by using microcT scans to 3D-kinematically model the appendage morphology and the range of motion(ROM)of the joints for Damon medius and Heterophrynus *** illustrate the successful application of this technique to terrestrial euarthropods in determining the maximum ROM values for each pedipalp *** also note that,in life,these values would be lower due to motion restricting structures like tendons,arthrodial membranes,and *** further compare our maximum values obtained here with data from video-based motion *** ROM of each joint shows the greatest flexibility in the femur-tibia joint(140–150°),the lowest in the basitarsus-claw joint(35–40°).ROM in the tibia-basitarsus joint is markedly distinct(***:44°;***:105°).This disparity reflects how *** uses the joint in the capture basket,while *** uses the femur-tibia joint to form the capture *** further illustrate notable vertical motion of the *** pedipalp compared to *** difference reflects the retro-ventral trochanter apophysis of *** study opens the possibility to further whip spider kinematic *** of other taxa using this approach will result in a more comprehensive understanding of the ecological significance and ethological implications of this unique arachnid group.

Mechanically durable transparent electrodes are essential for achieving long-term stability in flexible optoelectronic ***,they are crucial for applications in the fields of energy,display,healthcare,and soft *** meshes represent a promising alternative to traditional,brittle,metal oxide conductors due to their high electrical conductivity,optical transparency,and enhanced mechanical *** this paper,we present a simple method for fabricating an ultra-transparent conducting metal oxide mesh electrode using selfcracking-assisted *** this method,we produced an electrode with ultra-transparency(97.39%),high conductance(Rs=21.24Ωsq^(−1)),elevated work function(5.16 eV),and good mechanical *** also evaluated the effectiveness of the fabricated electrodes by integrating them into organic photovoltaics,organic light-emitting diodes,and flexible transparent memristor devices for neuromorphic computing,resulting in exceptional device *** addition,the unique porous structure of the vanadium-doped indium zinc oxide mesh electrodes provided excellent flexibility,rendering them a promising option for application in flexible optoelectronics.

Machine learning empowers efficient design of ternary organic solar cells with PM6 donor

Organic solar cells(OScs) hold great potential as a photovoltaic technology for practical ***, the traditional experimental trial-and-error method for designing and engineering OScs can be complex, expensive, and time-consuming. Machine learning(ML) techniques enable the proficient extraction of information from datasets, allowing the development of realistic models that are capable of predicting the efficacy of materials with commendable accuracy. The PM6 donor has great potential for high-performance OScs. However, it is crucial for the rational design of a ternary blend to accurately forecast the power conversion efficiency(PcE) of ternary OScs(TOScs) based on a PM6 ***, we collected the device parameters of PM6-based TOScs and evaluated the feature importance of their molecule descriptors to develop predictive models. In this study, we used five different ML algorithms for analysis and prediction. For the analysis, the classification and regression tree provided different rules, heuristics, and patterns from the heterogeneous dataset. The random forest algorithm outperforms other prediction ML algorithms in predicting the output performance of PM6-based TOScs. Finally, we validated the ML outcomes by fabricating PM6-based TOScs. Our study presents a rapid strategy for assessing a high PcE while elucidating the substantial influence of diverse descriptors.

Prevalence and factors of work-related musculoskeletal disorders among hand surgeons

BAcKGROUND The nature of tasks required by hand surgeons require both forceful and repetitive maneuvers,thus subjecting these surgeons to the risk of musculoskeletal(MSK)injuries during their years in *** To assess the prevalence,characteristics and impact of MSK disorders among hand *** A modified version of the physical discomfort survey was sent to surgeons who were members of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand via *** collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics,one-way analysis of variance,and Fisher’s exact test.P values ofconsidered statistically *** Of the 578 respondents,60.4%reported that they had sustained a work-related MSK injury,of which the most common diagnoses were lateral elbow epicondylitis(18.7%),low back pain(17.1%)and carpal tunnel syndrome(15.6%).Among those that reported an injury,73.1%required treatment and 29.2%needed time off work as a direct result of their *** number of work-related injuries incurred by a surgeon increased significantly with increasing age(Pcreasing years in practice(Pcase load(PcONcLUSION To our knowledge this study is the first of its kind to assess MSK injuries sustained by Hand surgeons with a high *** results should increase awareness on this aspect and fuel future studies directed at preventing these types of work-related injuries,thus minimizing the financial and psychological burden on these surgeons and the healthcare system.

快速城镇化带来的噪声、环境污染和犯罪率上升对城市居民的身心健康形成威胁，而城市中的蓝绿空间已被证明是降低健康风险的良方。“注意力恢复理论（Attention Restoration Theory,ART）”“压力恢复理论（Stress Reduction Theory,SRT）”“亲自然假说（Biophilia）”等几种主流理论解释了蓝绿空间对健康福祉的益处。大量的实证研究验证了这些假说，但生物多样性对人类福祉的促进作用仍不清晰，各种研究中结论的不一致性以及变量测度的差异性使得对现有研究成果的解读变得复杂。
