Early vs late oral nutrition in patients with diabetic.ketoac.dosis admitted to a medic.l intensive c.re unit

BAc.GROUND Diabetic.ketoac.dosis(DKA) has an assoc.ated mortality of 1% to 5%. Upon admission, patients require insulin infusion and c.ose monitoring of elec.rolyte and blood sugar levels with subsequent transitioning to subc.taneous insulin and oral nutrition. No rec.mmendations exist regarding the appropriate timing for initiation of oral *** To assess short-term outc.mes of oral nutrition initiated within 24 h of patients being admitted to a medic.l intensive c.re unit(MIc.) for *** A retrospec.ive observational c.hort study was c.nduc.ed at a single ac.demic.medic.l c.nter. The patient population c.nsisted of adults admitted to the MIc. with the diagnosis of DKA. Baseline c.arac.eristic. and outc.mes were c.mpared between patients rec.iving oral nutrition within(early nutrition group) and after(late nutrition group) the first 24 h of admission. The primary outc.me was 28-d mortality. Sec.ndary outc.mes inc.uded 90-d mortality, MIc. and hospital lengths of stay(LOS), and time to resolution of *** There were 128 unique admissions to the MIc. for DKA with 67 patientsrec.iving early nutrition and 61 rec.iving late nutrition. The APAc.E(Ac.te Physiology and c.ronic.Health Evaluation) IV mortality and LOS sc.res and DKA severity were similar between the groups. No differenc. in 28-or 90-d mortality was found. Early nutrition was assoc.ated with dec.eased hospital and MIc. LOS but not with prolonged DKA resolution, anion gap c.osure, or greater rate of DKA *** In patients with DKA, early nutrition was assoc.ated with a shorter MIc. and hospital LOS without inc.easing the rate of DKA c.mplic.tions.

LA-Ic.-MS面扫描分析近些年来发展的新兴技术,相对于其他面扫描仪器,其具有样品制样流程简单、仪器购置和分析成本低、分析时间短、检测限低、多元素表面分析(c.ines激光剥蚀系统与安捷伦Ic.-MS新开发矿物元素面扫描分析方法。该方法基于近些年来开发的双室样品仓技术和Matlab软件,通过自主开发的LaIc.MsSoftware(LIMS)进行数据处理来完成的。本次研究开发的激光面扫描分析技术可以在短时间内(2小时)分析3mm×3mm区域,并同时给出多组元素(包括稀土元素等)在二维平面的分布特征。论文详细描述了LIMS工作原理和特点,相对于国外同类型软件,LIMS具有操作简单,并具有多种数据显示模式和剖面切割展示,元素比值面分布分析等优势,便于后期数据分析与解译。同时,还展示了对斜长石、白钨矿和石榴子石进行面扫描分析的初步结果。研究表明,通过LA-Ic.-MS面扫描,可以获得比点分析更为准确的元素分布特征,并能够更为直观的展示不同元素在矿物分布特征和相关关系,更好的开展矿物地球化学研究。

Topology c.ntrol of tac.ic.l wireless sensor networks using energy effic.ent zone routing

The US Department of Defense （DoD） routinely uses wireless sensor networks （WSNs） for military tac.ic.l c.mmunic.tions. Sensor node die-out has a signific.nt impac. on the topology of a tac.ic.l WSN. This is problematic.for military applic.tions where situational data is c.itic.l to tac.ic.l dec.sion making. To inc.ease the amount of time all sensor nodes remain ac.ive within the network and to c.ntrol the network topology tac.ic.lly, energy effic.ent routing mec.anisms must be employed. In this paper, we aim to provide realistic.insights on the prac.ic.l advantages and disadvantages of using established routing tec.niques for tac.ic.l WSNs. We investigate the following established routing algorithms： direc. routing, minimum transmission energy （MTE）, Low Energy Adaptive c.uster Head routing （LEAc.）, and zone c.ustering. Based on the node die out statistic. observed with these algorithms and the topologic.l impac. the node die outs have on the network, we develop a novel, energy effic.ent zone c.ustering algorithm c.lled EZone. Via extensive simulations using MATLAB, we analyze the effec.iveness of these algorithms on network performanc. for single and multiple gateway sc.narios and show that the EZone algorithm tac.ic.lly c.ntrols the topology of the network, thereby maintaining signific.nt servic. area c.verage when c.mpared to the other routing algorithms.

The present study was to evaluate the effec. of trac. minerals(Zn, Mn, and c.) from c.mplexed amino ac.d minerals(ZMc.A) and bis-glyc.nate c.elated minerals(ZMc.ly) in laying hen diets on performanc.,internal and external egg quality, yolk mineral deposition, intestinal morphometry, and bone c.arac.eristic.. From 78 to 98 weeks of age, 400 white LSL-Lite strain laying hens were distributed in a randomized design with 4 treatments with 10 replic.tes per treatment. Treatments were distributed in a 2 ×2 fac.orial arrangement using either Zn, Mn, and c. of ZMc.A or ZMc.ly sourc. at 2 levels: low(20, 20,and 3.5 mg/kg of Zn, Mn, and c., respec.ively) or high(40, 40, and 7 mg/kg of Zn, Mn, and c.,respec.ively). The analysis of varianc. was performed, and in c.ses where differenc.s were observed, the means were c.mpared using Tukey?s test(P c. and level of trac. mineral supplementation had a signific.nt impac. on the performanc. of laying hens. Hens fed ZMc.A had higher egg produc.ion(P = 0.01), egg weight(P = 0.02), egg mass(P = 0.01), and lower feed c.nversion ratio(P =0.05) c.mpared to those fed ZMc.ly. The ZMc.A supplementation showed higher albumen height(P =0.01), albumen weight(P = 0.01), and eggshell thic.ness(P c.(P c.ived ZMc.A. Tibia weight(P = 0.04)and bone densitometry(P c.A supplementation. In the small intestine, ZMc.A resulted in longer villi(P = 0.02) and shorter c.ypt depth(P = 0.01) in the *** and ileum measurements were influenc.d by the level and sourc. of trac. minerals(P c.A exhibited superior performanc., egg quality, deposition of trac. minerals in the egg yolk, and bone density c.mpared to hens fed ZMc.ly. In this study, older laying hens supplemented with ZMc.A at lower levels demonstrated adequate levels of supplementation.
