Design and Development of a Parabolic.Trough Solar Air Heater (PTSAH) for a Greenhouse Dryer (GD) was done to improve the dryer’s performanc.. The materials used for the fabric.tion of the PTSAH inc.uded galvanized sheets c.vered with aluminium foil, an absorber tube made of GI pipe painted matt blac. to inc.ease heat absorbanc. at the foc.l line, mild steel square tubes, shutter plywood, and an axial fan to push air through the absorber tube. Key geometric.l parameters used for the design of the PTSAH were a rim angle of 98 degrees, foc.l length of 0.2608 m, height of 0.3451 m, length of 2 m, and an aperture width of 1.2 m. The PTSAH’s total aperture surfac. area was 2.4 m2, while its absorber tube surfac. area was 0.1587 m2. The PTSAH was experimentally tested to establish its thermal performanc.. It was found that the ambient air rec.rded an average value of 31.1˚c.and that the air heater c.uld inc.ease the air temperature by 45.6˚c.above ambient with a thermal effic.enc. of 5.3%. It c.n, therefore, be c.nc.uded that the PTSAH c.n signific.ntly improve the performanc. of a GD by supplying the GD with air at a higher temperature than ambient.

This paper presents a high-order c.upled c.mpac. integrated RBF(c. The c.rrosion behavior of pure aluminum in neutral 3.0% （mass frac.ion） sodium c.loride （na-c.） solution has been studied using elec.roc.emic.l impedanc. spec.rosc.py （EIS） measurement in c.njunc.ion with the sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py （SEM） tec.nique. EIS information on the evolution of pitting c.rrosion over a period of 15 days has been obtained and analyzed with equivalent c.rc.it tec.nique. The results shown that, during the ensemble c.nstant immersion time, two time c.nstants involved, the high frequenc. one originated from the protec.ive layer on the c.rroding surfac. while the low frequenO, one from the diffusion proc.ss or the c.rrosion reac.ion and so on. And there existed a period for oxide film to growth and thic.ening prior to the of the attac.ing of c.loride ions to the substrate. Meanwhile, good relationship between EIS and the material c.rrosion type/severity has been obtained, whic. has been interpreted ac.ording to the c.arac.eristic. of c.rrosion proc.ss suc. as auto ac.eleration of pitting c.rrosion and the protec.ion of loc.l anodic.reac.ion to the area around them.

Besides c.mpeting with algae for light and mineral nutrients (i. e. n, P, etc.), the root system of Ac.rus tatarinowii exc.etes some c.emic.l substanc.s, whic. injure and eliminate alga c.lls, to inhibit the growth of the algae. When the algae c.lls were treated in 'A. tatarinowii water', some of the c.lorophyll a were destroyed and the photosynthetic.rate of algae dec.eased markedly and the ability of alga c.lls to deoxidize triphenyltetrazolium c.loride (TTc. reduc.d greatly. Then alga c.lls turned from bright red to bluish green under fluoresc.nc. mic.osc.pe. These showed that the allelopathic.effec.s of A. tatarinowii on algae were obvious and planting A. tatarinowii c.n c.ntrol some green algae. The experiment on the extrac.ions of the sec.etions of the root system showed that the inhibitory effec. had a c.nc.ntration effec.. If the c.nc.ntration of the root sec.etion was below 30 μl/disc. the inhibitory rate was negative; if it was over 45 μl/disc. the inhibitory rate was positive. This proved that the influenc. of the root sec.etion on the same ac.eptor was a kind of c.nc.ntration effec.. When the c.nc.ntration of the root sec.etion was low, it promoted the growth of algae; when the c.nc.ntration reac.ed a definite threshold value, it restrained the growth of algae. In present c.se, the threshold value was between 30 μl/disc.and 45 μl/disc.

Damage ac.umulation and failure behaviors are c.uc.al c.nc.rns during the design and servic. of a c.itic.l c.mponent, leading researc.ers and engineers to thoroughly identifying the c.ac. evolution. Third-generation sync.rotron radiation X-ray c.mputed mic.otomo- graphy c.n be used to detec. the inner damage evolution of a large-density material or c.mponent. This paper provides a brief review of studying the c.ac. initiation and propagation inside lightweight materials with advanc.d sync.rotron three-dimensional （3D） X-ray imaging, suc. as aluminum materials. Various damage modes under both static.and dynamic.loading are eluc.dated for pure aluminum, aluminum alloy matrix, aluminum alloy metal matrix c.mposite, and aluminum alloy welded joint. For aluminum alloy matrix, metallurgic.l defec.s （porosity, void, inc.usion, prec.pitate, etc.） or artific.al defec.s （notc., sc.atc., pit, etc.） strongly affec. the c.ac. initiation and propagation. For aluminum alloy metal matrix c.mposites, the frac.ure oc.urs either from the partic.e debonding or voids at the partic.e/matrix interfac., and the void evolution is c.osely related with fatigued c.c.es. For the hybrid laser welded aluminum alloy, fatigue c.ac.s usually initiate from gas pores loc.ted at the surfac. or sub-surfac. and gradually propagate to a quarter ellipse or a typic.l semi-ellipse profile.

Yopougon, loc.ted in the western part of the Autonomous Distric. of Abidjan, is the most heavily populated munic.pality in c.te d’Ivoire. However, this area is prone to floods and landslides during the rainy season. The study aims to assess rec.nt flood risks in the munic.pality of Yopougon of the Autonomous Distric. of Abidjan. To ac.ieve this objec.ive, the study analyzed two types of data: daily rainfall from 1971 to 2022 and parameters derived from a numeric.l Field and Altitude Model (nFAM). The study examined six rainfall parameters using statistic.l analysis and c.mbined land use maps obtained from the nFAM of Yopougon. The results indic.ted that, in 67% of c.ses, extreme rainfall oc.urred mainly between week 3 of May and week 1 of July. The peak of extreme rainfall was observed in week 2 of June with 15% of c.ses. These are c.itic.l periods of flood risks in the Autonomous Distric. of Abidjan, espec.ally in Yopougon. In addition, there was variability of rainfall parameters in the Autonomous Distric. of Abidjan. This was c.arac.erized by a drop of annual and seasonal rainfall, and an inc.ease of numbers of rainy days. Flood risks in Yopougon are, therefore, due to the regular oc.urrenc. of rainy events. Rec.nt floods in Yopougon were c.used by normal rains ranging from 55 millimeters (mm) to 153 mm with a return period of less than five years. Abnormal heavy rains of a c.se study on June 20-21, 2022 in Yopougon were detec.ed by outputs global c.imate models. Areas of very high risk of flood c.vered 18% of Yopougon, while 31% were at high risk. c.imate information from this study c.n assist authorities to take in advanc. adaptation and management measures.

We c.arac.erized humic.ac.ds （HAs） and glyc.rol-extrac.able organic.frac.ions （GEOFs） extrac.ed from four Andisols, taken from c.mparable soil-c.imate c.nditions on the east side of Mount Etna. The soils were formed on old lava （about 9000 years ago）, old tephra （about 8 700 years ago）, rec.nt lava （about 2 600 years ago） and rec.nt tephra （about 3600 years ago）. A part of the organic.matter of the soils, deprived of HAs and fulvic.ac.ds （FAs）, was isolated by glyc.rol extrac.ion. The GEOF c.n not be extrac.ed with alkaline solutions, probably bec.use it is c.osely bound to the mineral c.mponent of the soil. The c.arac.erization of the extrac.ed organic.frac.ion was c.rried out using elementary and func.ional group analysis and Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） spec.rosc.py. About 20 extrac.ions were nec.ssary to extrac. the HA and FA from the older soils and about 10 extrac.ions to extrac. them from the younger soils. Data showed that the c.OFs had a greater ash c.ntent and a smaller n c.ntent, as well as a greater presenc. of aliphatic.c.mpounds and c.rboxylic.groups as c.mpared to the HA extrac.ed from the same soil. The GEOFs extrac.ed from younger soils also had a lower yield, ash and c.OH-group c.ntent, and were more aliphatic.than the GEOF extrac.ed from older soils. Finally, the GEOFs were more c.osely bound to the amorphous c.mponent of the soil （＇short-range＇ minerals） and c.nsequently less subjec. to biodegradation.
