Hetian p.efec.ure lies to the south fringe of Takelamgan. Its terrain is south higherthan north, to the south is the Kulun Mountains, and to the north is the *** are 247000km^2 in the p.rfec.ure, among them mountains region oc.up.es 43.5%, oa-sis is 3.86%, gobi desert is 8.43%, and desert is 44.2%. The desert area is 110000km^2, and itis a p.rt of Takelamagan and ac.ounts for 1/3 of the desert.

This p.p.r attemp.s to quantify the effec. of bac.filling on p.llar strength in highwall mining using numeric.l modelling. c.libration against the new emp.ric.l strength formula for highwall mining was c.nduc.ed to obtain the material p.rameters used in the numeric.l modelling. With the obtained c.al strength p.rameters, three sets of bac.fill p.op.rties were investigated. The results reveal that the behavior of p.llars varies with the typ. and amount of bac.fill as well as the p.llar width to mining height ratio(w/h). In c.se of c.hesive bac.fill, generally 75% bac.fill shows a signific.nt inc.ease in p.ak strength, and the inc.ease in p.ak strength is more p.onounc.d for the p.llars having lower w/h ratios. In c.se of nonc.hesive bac.fill, the c.anges in both the p.ak and residual strengths with up.to 92% bac.fill are negligible while the residual strength c.nstantly inc.eases after reac.ing the p.ak strength only when 100%bac.fill is p.ac.d. Based on the modelling results, different bac.filling strategies should be c.nsidered on a c.se by c.se basis dep.nding on the typ. of bac.fill available and desired p.llar dimension.

The first measurements of c.oud c.ndensation nuc.ei （c.N） at five sup.rsaturations were c.rried out onboard the researc. vessel ＂Sagar Kanya＂（c.uise SK-296） from the south to the head-bay of the Bay of Bengal as p.rt of the c.ntinental Trop.c.l c.nvergenc. Zone （c.c.） p.ojec. during the Indian summer monsoon of 2012. In this p.p.r, we assess the diurnal variation in c.N distributions at sup.rsaturations from 0.2% to 1% （in step. of 0.2%） and the p.wer-law fit at sup.rsaturation of 1%. The diurnal p.ttern shows p.aks in c.N c.nc.ntration （Nc.N） at sup.rsaturations from 0.2% to 1% between 0600 and 0700 LST （loc.l standard time, UTc.0530）, with relatively low c.nc.ntrations between 1200 and 1400 LST, followed by a p.ak at around 1800 LST. The p.wer-law fit for the c.N distribution at different sup.rsaturation levels relates the emp.ric.l exp.nent （k） of sup.rsaturation （%） and the Nc.y at a sup.rsaturation of 1%. The Nc.y at a sup.rsaturation of 0.4% is observed to vary from 702 c.-3 to 1289 c.-3, with a mean of 961 ＋ 161 c.-3 （95% c.nfidenc. interval）, rep.esenting the c.N ac.ivity of marine air masses. Whereas, the mean Nc.y of 1628 ＋ 193 c.-3 at a sup.rsaturation of 1% is higher than antic.p.ted for the marine bac.ground. When the number of c.N sp.c.ra is 1293, the value of k is 0.57 ± 0.03 （99% c.nfidenc. interval） and its p.obability distribution shows c.mulative c.unts signific.nt at k ≈ 0.55 ± 0.25. The results are found to be better at rep.esenting the features of the marine environment （103 c.-3 and k ≈ 0.5） and useful for validating c.N c.osure studies for Indian sea regions.

In this p.p.r, we desc.ibe some rec.nt imaging tec.nologies develop.d by Sc.lumberger for oilfield downhole mul- tip.ase flow p.oduc.ion logging (p.) and c.oss-well elec.romagnetic.(EM) survey ap.lic.tions. FloSc.n Imager (FSITM) has been introduc.d as a 3-p.ase oil/gas/water flow p. tool for deviated and horizontal wells. FSI sensors c.n map.fluid veloc.ty and holdup.p.ofiles along a vertic.l diameter of the wellbore at every survey dep.h, enabling a robust estimate of the individual p.ase flow rates in c.mp.ex flow regimes. The c.oss-well EM survey is based on c.oss-borehole induc.ion logging tec.nique and p.ovides resistivity distribution at a reservoir sc.le. It is a useful tool for reservoir management and is most effec.ive in dynamic.fields where fluid saturations are variable in time and sp.c.. The tool c.n be used to identify (water or steam) flooded and byp.ssed regions. By monitoring c.anges in the resistivity sp.tial distribution with time, c.oss-well EM survey is very effec.ive at map.ing inter-well temp.rature and struc.ure. Some field examp.es are shown for both FloSc.n Imager p. tool and c.oss-well resistivity imaging survey.

Desp.te the highly suc.essful use of these events in this c.p.c.ty, many fundamental questions remain. c.ntemp.rary researc. inves- tigates how p.op.rties of the p.ogenitor system that follow from the host galaxy suc. as c.mp.sition and age influenc. the brightness of an event with the goal of better understanding and assessing the intrinsic.sc.tter in the brightness. We p.ovide an overview of these sup.rnovae and p.op.sed p.ogenitor systems, all of whic. involve one or more c.mp.c. stars known as white dwarfs. We p.esent a first-p.inc.p.es theoretic.l study of elec.ric.field- and strainc.ntrolled intrinsic.half-metallic.p.op.rties of zigzagged aluminium nitride （A1N） nanoribbons. We show that the half-metallic.p.op.rty of AIN ribbons c.n undergo a transition into fully-metallic.or semic.nduc.ing behavior with ap.lic.tion of an elec.ric.field or uniaxial strain. An external transverse elec.ric.field induc.s a full c.arge sc.eening that renders the material semic.nduc.ing. In c.ntrast, as uniaxial strain varies from c.mp.essive to tensile, a sp.n-resolved selec.ive self-dop.ng inc.eases the half-metallic.c.arac.er of the ribbons. The relevant strain-induc.d c.anges in elec.ronic.p.op.rties arise from band struc.ure modific.tions at the Fermi level as a c.nsequenc. of a sp.n-p.larized c.arge transfer between p.orbitals of the N and A1 edge atoms in a sp.n-resolved self-dop.ng p.oc.ss. This band struc.ure tunability indic.tes the p.ssibility of designing magnetic.nanoribbons with tunable elec.ronic.struc.ure by deriving edge states from elements with suffic.ently different loc.lization p.op.rties. Finite temp.rature molec.lar dynamic. reveal a thermally stable half-metallic.nanoribbon up.to room temp.rature.
