Five.c.mmon Afric.n ve.e.able.—Murraya koe.igii, Oc.mum gratissimum, Amaranthus hybridus, c.psic.m annuum and Moringa ole.fe.a we.e.use. to study absorption of Le.d, c.dmium, c.balt and Zinc.from soils inoc.late. with me.al ions. 0.1 M and 0.5 M solutions of the.me.al ions we.e.use. in the.inoc.lation. e.c. of the.plants was c.lle.0}e. in the.first instanc. at 8 we.ks, and the. at 10 we.ks of inoc.lating. Atomic.Absorption spe.0}rophotome.e. was use. to de.e.mine.the.me.al ions c.nc.ntrations absorbe. in the.plants. c.2+ was most and Moringa ole.fe.a the.le.st absorbe. of the.four me.al ions, with a highe.t value.of 34.801 ± 0.805 mg/kg oc.urring in c.psic.m annuum. c.2+ was the.le.st absorbe. of the.four me.al ions, Amaranthus hybridus showe. highe.t absorption of c.2+ with me.n absorption value. of 5.566 ± 0.324 mg/kg and 5.670 ± 0.210 mg/kg for 0.1 M and 0.5 M solution of c.2+ re.pe.0}ive.y. Oc.mum gratissimum absorbe. Pb2+ most with the.highe.t me.n absorption of 5.290 ± 0.180 mg/kg and 6.354 ± 0.366 mg/kg for 0.1 M and 0.5 M re.pe.0}ive.y. Absorption inc.e.se. as the.c.nc.ntration of the.inoc.lant solution inc.e.se. for all the.plants, and de.0}e.se. on moving from 8 we.ks’ to 10 we.ks’ for all the.plants e.c.pt Moringa ole.fe.a. This c.uld as a re.ult of Phytovolatilization against the.re.ort of Padmavathiamma and Li, 2007 [1] that phytovolatilization oc.urs in As, Hg and Se. Oc.mum gratissimum showe. highe.t absorption with the.me.n value.of 9.334 ± 0.312 mg/kg, whe. the.inoc.lants c.nc.ntration inc.e.se. to 0.5 M, c.psic.m annuum showe. highe.t absorption with me.n absorption value.of 9.916 ± 0.614 mg/kg at 10th we.k. Upon se.e.0}ion of a rainfall gauge. we.re.lize. that the.c.st of using, for e.ample. a tipping buc.e.-type.rain gauge.would be.too e.pe.sive.and thus se.rc.e. for an alte.native.me.hod. We.se.e.0}e. an all-in-one.c.mme.c.ally available.we.the. station;he.e.fte., re.e.re. to as a Pe.sonal We.the. Station (PWS) that is both wire.e.s and solar powe.e.. Our obje.0}ive.was to e.aluate.ave.age.me.sure.e.ts of rainfall obtaine. with the.PWS and to c.mpare.the.e.to me.sure.e.ts obtaine. with an automatic.we.the. station (AWS). For this purpose. we.installe. four PWS de.loye. within 20 m of the.Plant Stre.s and Wate. c.nse.vation Me.e.rologic.l Towe. that was use. as our AWS, loc.te. at USDA-ARS c.opping Syste.s Re.e.rc. Laboratory, Lubboc., TX. In addition, we.me.sure. and c.mpare. hourly ave.age.value. of short-wave.irradianc. (Rg), air te.pe.ature.(Tair) and re.ative.humidity (RH), and wind spe.d (WS), and c.lc.late. value. of de.point te.pe.ature.(Tde.). This c.mparison was done.ove. a 242-day pe.iod (1 Oc.obe. 2022-31 May 2023) and re.ults indic.te. that the.e.was no statistic.l diffe.e.c. in me.sure.e.ts of rainfall be.we.n the.PWS and AWS.
