We present a dynamic model of a fish robot with a Non-uniform Flexible Tail （NFT）. We investigate the tendencies of the thrust and swimming speed when the input driving moment changes. Based on the proposed dynamic model of the NFT, we derive the thrust estimation, equation of motion, and performance evaluation of a fish robot with a NFT. By defining the optimal stiffness of the NFT in simulation, a fish robot prototype is then designed and fabricated. A series of experiments are performed to verify the proposed model. Experiment results are in good agreement with simulation data. The results show that the thrust and swimming speed of the fish robot are proportional to the amplitude of the driving moment. There are two resonant fre- quencies （f = 1.4 Hz and 2.2 Hz）, the maximum thrust and swimming speed （about 0.7 BL.s-1） are found to be around f = 1.4 Hz. The above results inidicate the proposed model is suitable for predicting the behavior, thrust and swimming speed of a fish robot with a NFT.

BACKGROUND Calcifying fibrous tumor (CFT) is a rare, benign soft tissue tumor usually occurring in children or young adults. Gastrohepatic ligament CFT with adhesion to the stomach is very rare. We present a case here. CASE SUMMARY A 25-year-old woman visited our hospital with abdominal pain. Computed tomography and endoscopy were performed, and a gastric submucosal tumor (SMT) with a size of 6.7 cm × 2.7 cm was detected, so endoscopic ultrasonography-guided fine needle biopsy was performed. The tumor was not diagnosed histologically, so surgical resection was planned and performed. The histopathologically confirmed mass size was 6.5 cm × 4.0 cm × 1.0 cm, and a calcified fibrous tumor that originated at the gastrohepatic ligament and adhered to the lesser curvature of the gastric antrum was identified. CONCLUSION Gastrohepatic ligament CFT is a very rare benign tumor. Since this disease may be confused with gastric SMT, the possibility of CFT should be kept in mind during clinical assessment of this disease.

Parkinson＇s disease （PD） is a well-known neurodegenerative disease caused by dopaminergic cell death in the nigrostriatal pathway. Recent studies have shown that acupuncture can be a potential therapy for the treatment of PD, but it is not clear which acupuncture points （acupoints） play major roles in reliving symptoms of PD. Yanglingquan （GB 34）, Zusanli （ST 36）, Fengfu （GV 16）, Taichong （LR 3）, Baihui （GV 20） and Dazhui （GV 14） acupoints have frequently been to investigate the effectiveness and action mechanism of acupuncture for treating PD, but it is not clear why they were selected. This review summarizes the current understanding of the acupoints for PD treatment based on Oriental medicine theories and on the accumulated findings from previous animal studies. The results of this study will be useful to development of a strategy for future research in this field.

Two sets of(Mg,Y)-doped BaTiO_(3)samples were prepared to investigate the effects of the core/shell volumetric ratio on the dielectric-temperature behavior of BaTiO3:one set with samples of the same grain size but different core sizes and the other with samples of the same core size but different shell *** microstructural variation of the samples was characterized and their dielectric properties were *** both sets of samples,the temperature stability of the dielectric properties was generally improved with a reduction of the volumetric shell ratio regardless of the grain and core *** existed,however,a limit of the reduction;for the studied range,shell thickness of one third of the core radius appeared to be an optimum thickness for the given amounts of *** was concluded that the volumetric shell ratio should be optimized so as not to exceed a specific limit,for our case two thirds of the grain volume,to secure temperature stability of the dielectric properties of BaTiO_(3).

Aim： To characterize the feasibility of the surgical replacement of the penile tunica albuginea （TA） and to evaluate the value of a porcine bladder acellular matrix （BAM） graft. Methods： Acellular matrices were constructed from pigs＇ bladders by cell lysis, and then examined by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. Expression levels of the mRNA of the vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） receptor, fibroblast growth factor （FGF）-1 receptor, neuregulin, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDNF） in the acellular matrix and submucosa of the pigs＇ bladders were determined through the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction （PCR）. A 5 mm× 5 mm square was excised from the penile TA of nine rabbits. The defective TA was then covered in porcine BAM. Equal numbers of animals were sacrificed and histochemically examined at 2, 4 and 6 months after implantation. Results： SEM of the BAM showed collagen fibers with many pores. VEGF receptor, FGF-1 receptor and neuregulin mRNA were expressed in the porcine BAM; BDNF mRNA was not detected. Two months after implantation, the graft sites exhibited excellent healing without contracture, and the fusion between the graft and the neighboring normal TA appeared to be well established. There were no significant histological differences between the implanted tunica and the normal control tunica at 6 months after implantation. Conclusion： The porcine BAM graft resulted in a structure which was sufficiently like that of the normal TA. This implantation might be considered applicable to the reconstruction of the TA in conditions such as trauma or Peyronie＇s disease.

In the past decade, researchers in the fields of energy production have concentrated on the improvement of new energy storage devices. Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) and faradaic supercapacitors(FSs) have attracted special attention as a result of the rapid development of new electrode nanomaterials, especially hybrid nanomaterials, which can meet the increasingly higher requirements for future energy, such as the capability to deliver high-power performance and an extremely long life cycle. In these hybrid nanostructures, a series of synergistic effects and unique properties arising from the combination of individual components are a major factor leading to improved charge/discharge capability, energy density, and system lifetime. This paper describes the most recent progress in the growth of hybrid electrode materials for LIBs and FSs systems, focusing on the combination of zero-dimensional(0 D), one-dimensional(1 D), two-dimensional(2 D), and three-dimensional(3 D) nanomaterials, respectively.

Pharmacology in the traditional medical curriculum has been treated as a discrete "preclinical" discipline identifying itself distinctly different from the other preclinical sciences or clinical subjects in knowledge base as well as learning/teaching instructions. It is usually run in series with other pre-clinical courses (eg, anatomy, biochemistry, physiology etc), but in parallel with other paraclinical courses such as pathology, microbiology and community medicine. Clinical pharmacology was only introduced relatively recently designed to overcome the perceived deficiency in "preclinical" pharmacology regarding its therapeutic relevance and application to medicine. In many universities, both preclinical and clinical pharmacology courses co-exist, usually independently offered by two separate, sometimes non-interacting Departments of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology. Clinical significance of CT-defined minimal ascites in patients with gastric cancer

AIM： To study the clinical significance of minimal ascites, which was only defined by the CT and whose nature was not determined preoperatively, in the relationship with the peritoneal carcinomatosis. METHODS： The medical records and the dynamic CT films of 118 patients with gastric cancer were reviewed. Factors associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis were analyzed in 40 patients who had CT-defined ascites of which the nature was surgically confirmed, RESULTS： Only 12.5-25% of the CT-defined minimal ascites, whose volume was estimated to be less than 50 mL, were associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis. When the estimated CT-defined ascitic volume was 50 mL or more, peritoneal carclnomatosis was identified in 75-100%. When CT-defined lymph node enlargements were not found beyond the regional gastric area, perigastric invasions were not suspected, and the size of tumor was less than 3 cm, peritoneal carcinomatosis seemed significantly less accompanied at the univariate analysis. However, except for the minimal volume of CT- defined ascites in comparison with the mild or more, other factors were not confirmed multivariately. CONCLUSION： In the patients with gastric cancer, CT- defined minimal ascites alone is rarely associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis, if it does not accompany other signs suggestive of malignant seeding. Therefore, consideration of active curative resection should not be hesitated, if CT-defined minimal ascites is the only delusive sign.

Tetrandrine (TET), a bis-benzylisoquinoline alkaloid purified and identified an active ingredient in a Chinese medicinal herb, Radix Stephanae tetrandrae, has been used traditionally for the treatment of congestive circulatory disorder and inflammatory diseases. TET, together with a few of its structural analogues, has long been demon-strated to have antihypertensive action in clinical as well as animal studies. Presumably, the primary anti-hyperten-sive action of TET is due to its vasodilatory properties. TET prevents or inhibits vascular contraction induced by membrane depolarization with KC1 or α-adrenoceptor activation with phenylephrine (PE). TET (30 μmol/L) also inhibits the release of endothelium-derived nitric oxide (NO) as well as NO production by inducible NO synthase. TET apparently inhibits multiple Ca2+ entry pathways as demonstrated in cell types lacking the L-type Ca2+ channels. In cardiac muscle cells, TET inhibits both L- and T-type Ca2+ channels.
