Hydrophobic modification of SAPO-34 membranes for improvement of stability under wet condition

SAPO-34 zeolite membranes show high efficiency for CO2/CH4 separation but suffer from the reduction of separation performance when exposed to humid *** this work,n-dodecyltrimethoxysilane(DTMS)was used to modify the hollow fibers supported SAPO-34 membranes to increase the external surface hydrophobicity and thus sustain their performance under moisture *** modified membranes were fully *** separation performance was extensively investigated in both dry and wet gaseous systems and compared with the un-modified *** un-modified SAPO-34 membrane exhibited a high separation selectivity of 160 and CO2 permeance of 1.18×10-6 mol·m-2·s-1·Pa-1 for separation of dry CO2/CH4 at 298 ***,its separation selectivity declined to 0.9 and the CO2 permeance was only about 1.7×10-8 mol·m-2·s-1·Pa-1 for wet CO2/CH4 at same *** temperature(e.g.353 K)could reduce the effect of moisture to improve SAPO-34 separation selectivity,but further increasing temperature(e.g.373 K)led to decrease in CO2/CH4 separation selectivity.A significant decrease of selectivity was observed at higher pressure *** modified SAPO-34 membrane showed decreased CO2 permeance but increased separation selectivity for dry CO2/CH4 gas mixture,and super performance for wet CO2/CH4 gas mixture due to the improved hydrophobicity of membrane surface.A separation selectivity of 65 and CO2 permeance of 4.73×10-8 mol·m-2·s-1·Pa-1 for wet CO2/CH4 mixture can be observed at 353 K with a pressure drop of 0.4 ***,the modified membrane exhibited stable separation performance during the 120-hour test for wet CO2/CH4 mixture at 353 *** hydrophobic modification paves a way for SAPO-34 membranes in real applications.

Non-coding RNAs （ncRNAs） are critical regulators of gene expression in essentially all life forms. Long ncRNAs （IncRNAs） and microRNAs （miRNAs） are two important RNA classes possessing regulatory functions. Up to date, many primate-specific ncRNAs have been identified and investigated. Their expression specificity to primate lineage suggests primate-specific roles. It is thus critical to elucidate the biological significance of primate or even human-specific ncRNAs, and to develop potential ncRNA-based therapeutics. Here, we have summarized the studies regard- ing regulatory roles of some key primate-specific lncRNAs and miRNAs.

Improved Speech Emotion Recognition Focusing on High-Level Data Representations and Swift Feature Extraction Calculation

The performance of a speech emotion recognition(SER)system is heavily influenced by the efficacy of its feature extraction *** study was designed to advance the field of SER by optimizing feature extraction tech-niques,specifically through the incorporation of high-resolution Mel-spectrograms and the expedited calculation of Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients(MFCC).This initiative aimed to refine the system’s accuracy by identifying and mitigating the shortcomings commonly found in current ***,the primary objective was to elevate both the intricacy and effectiveness of our SER model,with a focus on augmenting its proficiency in the accurate identification of emotions in spoken *** research employed a dual-strategy approach for feature ***,a rapid computation technique for MFCC was implemented and integrated with a Bi-LSTM layer to optimize the encoding of MFCC ***,a pretrained ResNet model was utilized in conjunction with feature Stats pooling and dense layers for the effective encoding of Mel-spectrogram *** two sets of features underwent separate processing before being combined in a Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)outfitted with a dense layer,with the aim of enhancing their representational *** model was rigorously evaluated using two prominent databases:CMU-MOSEI and *** findings include an accuracy rate of 93.2%on the CMU-MOSEI database and 95.3%on the RAVDESS *** exceptional performance underscores the efficacy of this innovative approach,which not only meets but also exceeds the accuracy benchmarks established by traditional models in the field of speech emotion recognition.

Mechanical behavior of Cu-Zr bulk metallic glasses (BMGs): A molecular dynamics approach

In the present work, three-dimensional molecular dynamics simulation is carried out to elucidate the nanoinden- tation behaviors of CuZr Bulk metallic glasses （BMGs）. The substrate indenter system is modeled using hybrid interatomic potentials including both many-body Finnis Sinclair （FS） and two-body Morse potentials. A spherical rigid indenter （diameter= 60 A（1 A = 10 ^-10 m）） is employed to simulate the indentation process. Three samples of BMGs including Cu25Zr75, CusoZr50, and Cu75Zr25 are designed and the metallic glasses are formed by rapid cooling from the melt state at about 2000 K. The radial distribution functions are analyzed to reveal the dynamical evolution of the structure of the atoms with different compositions and different cooling rates. The mechanical behavior can be well understood in terms of load-depth curves and Hardness-depth curves during the nanoindentation process. Our results indicate a positive linear relationship between the hardness and the Cu concentration of the BMG sample. To reveal the importance of cooling rate provided during the processing of BMGs, we investigate the indentation behaviors of CusoZr50 at three different quenching rates. Nanoindentation results and radial distribution function （RDF） curves at room temperature indicate that a sample can be made harder and more stable by slowing down the quenching rate.

Financial frictions and the cash flow – external financing sensitivity: evidence from a panel of Pakistani firms

This paper uses a large panel of Pakistani non-financial firms over the period 2000-2013 to examine the role of financial constraints in establishing the relationship between cash flow and external *** results reveal that there exists a negative and significant relationship between external financing and cash *** finding of the substitutionary relation between internal funds availability and external financing has been viewed as evidence supporting the pecking order theory of capital ***,we show that this negative relationship is weak in case of financially constrained *** also analyze how credit multiplier affects external financing decisions of financially constrained and unconstrained *** results show that for financially unconstrained firms,the negative sensitively of external financing increases with asset ***,for financially constrained firms,the negative sensitivity of external financing to cash flow either decreases or turns positive as the tangibility of assets *** finding implies that financially constrained firms benefit more from investing in tangible assets because such assets not only help relax financial constraints but also having a potential to be a direct source of funds in periods of negative cash flow shocks.

Partial characterization of superoxide dismutase activity in the Barber pole worm-Haemonchus contortus infecting Capra hircus and abomasal tissue extracts

Objective:To determine the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) in the male and female haematophagous caprine worms,Haemonchus contortus infecting Capra hircus,and their E/S products and also to analyse the effect of Haemonchus infection on the level of host ***:The SOD activity was analysed by using the pyrogallol autoxidation assay and non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis followed by specific enzyme staining by riboflavin-nitroblue tetrazolium ***:The adult females were found to have higher enzyme activity than the male *** amount of SOD activity was also detected in the worm culture medium and female worms secreted more SOD in comparison to the male *** SOD activity was negatively correlated to the worm *** significant decrease in SOD activity(P<0.05) was observed in the heavily infected host tissue in comparison to the control non-infected host *** profile of the crude extracts of both the sexes revealed polymorphism and a fast migrating activity band being characteristic of E/S *** SOD activities were found highly sensitive to potassium cyanide indicating the Cu/Zn form of ***:Haemonchus contortus is a key model parasite for drug and vaccine *** presences of SOD activity in appreciable amount in the parasite as well as its E/S products indicate that it has a well-developed active antioxidant system to protect itself from the host immune *** could be the target for vaccine development which is the need of the hour as mass drug administration for parasite control has resulted in anthelmintic resistance across the globe and threatens the viability of sheep and goat industry in many regions of the *** infection with Haemonchus causes a drastic reduction in SOD activity of the host tissue thus effecting its protective *** characteristic SOD band was found in the females which was not present in any other preparations and thus could b

CNN-based segmentation frameworks for structural component and earthquake damage determinations using UAV images

Buildings undergo various kinds of structural damage during earthquakes,and damage detection and functional assessment of these structures in the aftermath of the events have been challenging *** these circumstances,computer vision techniques offer a promising solution by automating the inspection *** study presents an effective methodology for automatic structural components and damage detection using unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)images of damaged *** types of neural network architectures are considered for appropriate feature extractions in different task *** feature pyramid network(FPN)is employed for crack,spall,rebar,and component damage segmentation,while the UNet++network is utilized for the damage *** network training and validation,a total of 3805 original images of size 1920×1080 pixels are processed by the proposed method and reduced the image *** the FPN,the achieved highest intersection over unions(IoUs)were 0.59,0.93,0.42,and 0.99 for crack,spall,rebar,and components,*** predicted labels were found in close agreement with the ***,the UNet++recognized the semantic information and damage state with an IoU of *** demonstrated the applicability of the proposed method for automated post-earthquake building inspection process accurately without information loss from the original images.
