Pakistan is facing the threat of Cotton Leaf Curl Virus(CLCuV)which is transmitted through whitefly to cotton *** mechanism of leaf epicuticular wax protects the plants from different pathogens including insect attack and disease *** of current study is the isolation and characterization of a wax related gene GaCyPI from Gossypium arboreum under CLCuV infection.A fragment of 475 bp was isolated from the total RNA and 3’and 5’RACE-PCR products were arranged by overlapping the extended sequences at both the *** protein sequence of GaCyPI showed homology with Cyclophilin cis-trans isomerase gene of Gossypium ramondii and Gossypium *** sequence alignment also revealed homology among the coding sequences of same *** protein comprised of 173 amino acids and ORF finder revealed the 69 bases upstream at 5’while 350 bp at 3’*** revealed that it belongs to Cyclophilin-type peptidyl prolyl cis/trans isomerase(PPIase)*** sites are visible at specific amino acid positions and 3D structure was stable in Ramachandran *** server showed protein residues have average 3D-1D score>=0.2 and Z-Score was−*** analysis revealed that *** is the closest species that shares the same ***,GaCyPI has strong role in plants’epicuticular wax and its genetic transformation may protect the cotton from whitefly which transmits CLCuV.

Salinity is one of the most serious growth limiting factor, therefore, no longer being ignored. Although, cotton is fairly salt tolerant;its sensitivity at crop stand and yield is affected. This study is planned to identify the growth, physiological and molecular parameters in local cotton varieties FDH 171 and FDH 786 under NaCl stress. There was 100% seed germination but hypocotyl length was reduced at increasing level of NaCl. Plant height, fresh and dry biomass were reduced as the plants were subjected to increased stress of NaCl. Stomatal conductance, transpiration and photosynthetic rate and ionic imbalance were found to be reduced under the gradual increase in NaCl stress and affected the plant’s overall physiological processes. PCR product of AtNHX3 has been identified in stressed and non-stressed plants. Thus, the genotypes FDH 171 & FDH 786 were found tolerant to adoption of salt stress and could be used as a source in crop improvement.

BACKGROUND Diarrhoea is a frequent symptom in children with cancer, and occurs due to a composite effect of underlying disease and immunosuppression consequent to therapy, malnutrition, and non-infective aetiologies such as mucositis. In a large proportion of cases, the aetiology of diarrhoea remains unknown but is often attributed to multiple pathogens including *** To identify and describe the pathogens causing diarrhoea in Bangladeshi children with *** Two cross-sectional pilot studies were conducted involving paediatric oncology patients with diarrhoea. Stool samples were collected from children who were hospitalised with or without being treated with chemotherapy during the study period, and had diarrhoea at any stage during their admission. In the first study,stool samples were tested by conventional microbiological methods and by polymerase chain reaction for parasites, and by immunoassays for Clostridium difficile. In the second study, conventional microbiology was conducted for bacteria and parasites including an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for Cryptosporidium antigen, and in a subset, immunoassays for Clostridium *** In the first study Giardia lamblia was detected in 68.5% of samples, Entamoeba histolytica in 13%, Cryptosporidium in 5.6%, non-toxigenic C. difficile in 22.4%, and other bacteria in 5.2%. In the second study, E. histolytica was detected in 10% of samples, Cryptosporidium in 4.3%, G. lamblia in 1.4%, C. difficile in 5.1%, and other bacteria in 5.7% of *** These pilot data suggest that parasites are important aetiologies of diarrhoea in Bangladeshi children with malignancy. A theoretical investigation of field components for transverse electric mode in the parallel-plate waveguides has been studied. In this analysis two different types of waveguide structures have been discussed, i.e., （a） normal good/perfect conducting parallel-plate waveguide filled with nonlinear left-handed material and （b） high-temperature-superconducting parallel-plate waveguide filled with nonlinear left-handed material. The dispersion relations of transverse electric mode have also been discussed for these two types of waveguide structures.

Plasma activated water(PAW)was prepared for 10 min to be applied one toﬁve times as a foliar spray to rice plants,to investigate plant growth,yield and the concentrations of total soluble protein and sugar in the rice grains *** results reveal that(1)the plant height,stem diameter,dry weight,chlorophyll and total carotene concentrations were improved by∼15%,∼25%,∼24%,∼47%and∼45%,respectively,with respect to control,(2)defense mechanisms of the plants treated with PAW were improved,(3)concentrations of total soluble protein and sugar were enhanced in the rice grains of PAW treated plants and(4)yield was increased by∼14%.

Resilience Analysis and Cascading Failure Modeling of Power Systems Under Extreme Temperatures

In this paper, we propose an AC power flow based cascading failure model that explicitly considers external weather conditions, extreme temperatures in particular, and evaluates the impact of extreme temperature on the initiation and propagation of cascading blackouts. Based on this model, resilience analysis of the power system is performed with extreme temperatures. Specifically, the changes of load and dynamic line rating are modeled due to temperature disturbance. The probabilities for transmission line and generator outages are evaluated, and the timing for each type of events is calculated to decide the actual event sequence. It should be emphasized that the correlated events, in the advent of external temperature changes, could contribute to voltage instability. Besides, we model undervoltage load shedding and operator re-dispatch as control strategies for preventing the propagation of cascading failures. The effectiveness of the proposed model is verified by simulation results on the RTS-96 3-area system. It is found that temperature disturbances can lead to correlated load change and line/generator tripping, which will greatly increase the risk of cascading and voltage instability. Critical temperature change, critical area with temperature disturbance, the identification of most vulnerable buses, and the comparison of different control strategies are also investigated.

In this study,ultrasonic field was applied during potassium hydroxide(KOH) pretreatment of wheat straw(WS).Three concentrations of KOH(2%,4%,and 6%) were tested during *** results showed that there was a significant influence of the ultrasonic assisted KOH pretreatment(KOH(Upt)) on physiochemical characteristics of WS during pretreatment as well as on digester *** pretreatment time was optimized to 36 h for all KOH *** highest total volatile fatty acid(TVFA) productions(3189 mg·L^-1) from 6%KOHupt samples were ***,the SEM analysis and FTIR observation revealed that KOH(Upt) effectively disrupted the physical morphology of WS and successful breaking of lignin and hemicellulose linkage between carboxyl ***,the highest biogasification(555 ml·(g VS(loaded))^-1) and biomethane productions(282 ml·(g VS(loaded))^-1) from 4%KOH(Upt) digesters,with 69% of biodegradability,indicated significant availability of organic matter from KOH(Upt).The R^2 values(0.993-0.998) in Modified Gompertz Model indicated that the model was feasible to predict methane yield for this ***,the Bo values for 4%KOH(Upt)(283.30±2.74 ml·(gVS(loaded))^-1) were also in agreement to the experimental methane *** results suggested that ultrasonic addition during KOH pretreatment of WS can effectively increase the organic yield during ***,the increase in methane production from 4% KOH(Upt) suggested that digester performance can be improved with lower KOH concentrations using this pretreatment.

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of heat treatment cycle on graphite phase formation on CK 45 steel. The presence of well distributed graphite in the matrix is responsible for the good mechanical and thermal properties of this kind of alloy. Such properties include excellent wear resistance, higher resistance to thermal shock, and higher resistance to oxidation at high temperature. A number of specimens were made up of appropriate design to provide the experimental materials. The transformation phase to a free carbon microstructure during graphitization under different conditions was then examined for the most successful experimental steels. Austenitising temperature of 920℃ and the following isothermal heat treatment of 750℃ at different holding times were used. Microstructures were examined by OM （optical microscopy） and SEM （scanning electron microscopy）. Furthermore, it was found that isothermal transformation at 750℃ for different soaking times produced a typical microstructure. Also, the amount of graphite increased with increasing isothermal heat treatment time. Heat treatment leading to supersaturation of iron with carbon was described and some of the consequences of the supersaturation were presented. Finally, the formation of the thermodynamically stable state of the graphite taken from the supersaturated solid solution was discussed.
