Morgellon. disease (MD) is a multi-system disorder characterized by multicolor filamen.s extrudin. out of the skin.alon. with an.array of dermatologic an. n.uropsychiatric symptoms. It was previously termed Delusion.l parasitosis. However, published scien.ific data foun. the association.of MD symptoms with the systemic man.festation. of Lyme disease, caused by Borrelia spirochete. In.a retrospective study of 122 MD patien.s, skin.specimen. were examin.d an. 96% of them showed Borrelia spirochete in.their histology sample. Hen.e, this association.suggests that spirochete in.ection.could be a possible cause of chron.c illn.ss in.MD patien.s, an. this rejected the physician.s perception.that MD lesion. might be self-in.licted. A cohort study reported tick-born. co-in.ection. amon. MD patien.s, which could also be an.etiological factor for dermopathy in.MD patien.s. Some literature also discussed n.uropsychiatric man.festation. like cogn.tive impairmen., demen.ia an.iety, depression. paran.ia, an. sen.ory hallucin.tion. in.Lyme disease an. associated tick-born. in.ection. The objectives of this review are to iden.ify the differen.es in.the past an. curren. perception.regardin. the pathogen.sis of MD an. determin. the association. of spirochetal an. tick-born. diseases with MD an. psychiatric illn.sses. More than.50 n.w research articles an. case reports were reviewed an. on.y 31 articles were shortlisted an. used as referen.es. This review has a detailed discussion.on.Morgellon. disease an. its association.with Spirochete in.ection.

Piscin. mycobacteriosis is a fatal fish illn.ss that affects a variety of species globally. It affects over 200 species of freshwater an. marin. fish. Several species of Mycobacterium are respon.ible amon. them Mycobacterium marin.m is the commen.. It also affects human. when.exposed to con.amin.ted water. In.fishes, the symptoms in.lude eroded fin., body surface coated with heavy mucus, chan.in. pigmen.ation. swellin. of abdomen. ulcerative dermal n.crosis, an. scale loss. In.human., the in.ection.is classified in.o three clin.cal groups. Type I is a self-limitin., verruca lesion. Type II is sin.le or n.merous subcutan.ous gran.lomas in.the presen.e or absen.e of ulceration. Type III is deep in.ection. of the ten.syn.vium, bon.s, bursa, or join.s, resultin. in.ten.syn.vitis, osteomyelitis, an. septic arthritis. The diagn.sis is made by Ziehl-n.elsen.acid-fast stain.n., culture, biochemical reaction. an. PCR bein. the most reliable approach. Piscin. mycobacteriosis is treated by an.ibiotics an. vaccin.tion.has been.con.idered for its lon.-term preven.ion.in.order to reduce morbidity an. mortality. Morgellon. disease (MD) is a filamen.ous dermopathy in.which lesion. with stran.e filamen.ous in.lusion. appear out of n.where. Furthermore, formication.may accompan. dermopathy. The iden.ification.of Borrelia spirochetes directly in.Morgellon. disease patien. specimen.is con.tan. an. repeatable when.sen.itive an. precise detection.techn.ques are utilized. It has been.diagn.sed by microscopy, histology an. molecular diagn.stic techn.ques which are highly sen.itive an. specific. Morgellon. disease is still a myth therefore its treatmen. is evolvin., up to date it has been.treated symptomatically.

Brain.rd Diarrhea is a syn.rome of acute on.et of watery, n.n.bloody diarrhea that lasts for a duration.of 4 weeks or more. The in.ex case of Brain.rd Diarrhea was recorded in.1983, in.the first such outbreak in.Brain.rd, Min.esota. In.1989, a prohibited in.asive species n.med Zebra Mussels (Dreissen. polymorpha) were foun. in.the great lakes of the Un.ted States. The 7 recorded outbreaks of Brain.rd diarrhea were correlated with the location.an. time of zebra mussel in.estation.. The first outbreak that occurred due to con.umption.of raw milk took place in.Min.esota which is n.ar the waters in.ested by zebra mussels. All other outbreaks were related to con.umption.of con.amin.ted un.hlorin.ted water occurred in.region. n.t directly close to the in.ested rivers. However, sin.e in.estation. are thought to occur due to human.activity, un.ocumen.ed in.estation. faraway are still possible. Eviden.e shows min.r correlation. between.Brain.rd Diarrhea outbreaks an. Zebra Mussel in.estation.. However, n.n. of the facts are stron. en.ugh to establish or den. a sign.fican. correlation.or causation. Further cohort studies an. research n.ed to be don. on.the recen. discoveries of Zebra Mussel in.estation. an. n.w Brain.rd diarrhea outbreaks. The primary search en.in. used to gather in.ormation.for this review was Scien.eDirect an. PubMed. More than.35 articles an. case reports were reviewed an. on.y 20 were shortlisted an. used as referen.es. n.n. of the studies in.luded were restricted to study design. but studies with less than.10 participan.s/patien.s were excluded from the review.
