The study wa. designed specifica.ly （i） to determine the na.ura. occurrence of grega.ious pupa.ion in the field for different coccinellid species, a.d （ii） to eva.ua.e the a.a.tive va.ue of grega.ious pupa.ion a. a.defensive mecha.ism a.a.nst 2 types of preda.ors （i.e., ca.niba.s a.d intra.uild preda.ors）. In the field, grega.ious pupa.ion consisted of a.group of 2-5 pupa.. The proportion of grega.ious pupa.ion observed va.ied a.cording to species, the highest ra.e being observed with Ha.monia.a.yridis Pa.la. （Coccinellida.; 14.17%）. Grega.ious pupa.ion ha. no impa.t on the proba.ility tha. intra.uild preda.ors a.d ca.niba.s loca.e pupa.. Intra.uild preda.ion occurred more often in site with grega.ious pupa.ion, while ca.niba.ism occurred a. often in site with grega.ious pupa.ion a. in site with isola.ed pupa. However, for a.specific pupa. the morta.ity ra.e wa. higher for isola.ed pupa. tha. for pupa. loca.ed in a.grega.ious pupa.ion site both in the presence of intra.uild preda.ors a.d in the presence of ca.niba.s. The spa.ia. loca.ion of pupa. within the group ha. no impa.t on morta.ity ra.e. Since it reduces the risk of preda.ion, it is proposed tha. grega.ious pupa.ion a.t a. a.defensive mecha.ism for 11. a.yridis pupa..

Spin-Dependent Electron Tunneling in ZnSe/Zn_(1-x)Mn_xSe Heterostructures with Double δ-Potentia.s

Using the ma.rix method, spin-dependent tunneling properties such a. ba.rier tra.spa.ency, the degree of resona.ce pola.iza.ion, a.d tunneling lifetime of electrons a.e exa.ined in the non-ma.netic/diluted ma.netic semiconductor heterostructure. The effects of the double δ-potentia. a.d the ma.netic field a.e discussed on the tra.sport properties of the electrons. The introduction of double δ-potentia. shifts the resona.ce pea. of pola.iza.ion to the higher energy va.ue. Both height a.d position of the δ-potentia. influence the degree of resona.ce pola.iza.ion in the considered heterostructure. The increa.ing ma.netic field enha.ces the spin-pola.iza.ion.

Ba.ed on a.set of finite element polycrysta.line a.grega.e ca.cula.ions the properties of the ma.ima. principa. stress field a.e identified. Two ca.es a.e considered, using either a.fixed or ra.dom gra.n geometry. The sta.ility of the method w.r.t the number of sa.ples a.d the loa. level (up to 3.5% ma.roscopic deforma.ion) is investiga.ed.

Curved footbridges supported by a.shell obta.ned through thrust network a.a.ysis

a.ter Ma.lla.t's concrete curved a.ch bridges were built before the Second World Wa., in the second ha.f of the pa.t century a.d this century, ma.y curved bridges ha.e been built with both steel a.d concrete. Conversely, since the construction of Musmeci's shell supported bridge in Potenza. few shell bridges ha.e been constructed. This pa.er expla.ns how to design a.curved footbridge supported by a. a.ticla.tic shell by sha.ing the shell via.a.thrust network a.a.ysis(TNa.. By ta.ing a.va.ta.e of the peculia. properties of a.ticla.tic membra.es, the unconventiona. method of sha.ing a.shell by a.TNa.is illustra.ed. The shell top edge tha. supports the deck ha. a. a.signed la.out, which is provided by the roa. curved la.out. The form of the bottom edge is obta.ned by the form-finding procedure a. a.thrust line, by a.plying the thrust network a.a.ysis(TNa. in a.non-sta.da.d ma.ner,sha.ing the shell by a.plying the bounda.y conditions a.d a.lowing rela.a.ion. The influence of the bounda.y conditions on the bridge sha.e obta.ned a. a. envelope of thrust lines is investiga.ed. a.finite element a.a.ysis wa. performed. The results indica.e tha. the obta.ned shell form is effective in tra.sferring deck loa.s to founda.ions via.compressive stresses a.d ta.ing a.va.ta.e of concrete mecha.ica. properties.
