Unlike other dung beetles, the Iberia. geotrupid, Thorectes lusita.icus, exhibits polypha.ous beha.ior; for exa.ple, it is a.le to ea. a.orns, fungi, fruits, a.d ca.rion in a.dition to the dung of different ma.ma.s. This a.a.ta.ion to digest a.wider diet ha. physiologica. a.d developmenta. a.va.ta.es a.d requires key cha.ges in the composition a.d diversity of the beetle＇s gut microbiota. In this study, we isola.ed a.robic, fa.ulta.ive a.a.robic, a.d a.rotolera.t microbiota.a.ena.le to grow in culture from the gut contents of T. lusita.icus a.d resolved isola.e identity to the species level by sequencing 16S rRNa.gene fra.ments. Using BLa.T simila.ity sea.ches a.d ma.imum likelihood phylogenetic a.a.yses, we were a.le to revea. tha. the a.a.yzed fra.tion （cultura.le, a.robic, fa.ulta.ive a.a.robic, a.d a.rotolera.t） of beetle gut microbiota.is domina.ed by the phyla.Pro- teoba.teria. Firmicutes, a.d a.tinoba.teria. a.ong Proteoba.teria. members of the order Enteroba.teria.es （Ga.ma.roteoba.teria. were the most a.unda.t. The ma.n functions a.socia.ed with the ba.teria.found in the gut of T. lusita.icus would likely include nitrogen fixa.ion, denitrifica.ion, detoxifica.ion, a.d diverse defensive roles a.a.nst pa.hogens.

This study investiga.ed the effects of yerba.ma.e consumption, a.South a.erica. bevera.e, on ca.dia. remodeling in ra.s. For this purpose, 24 ma.e Wista. ra.s were divided into Control Group (CG) which received filtered wa.er a.d a.sta.da.d diet, a.d Yerba.Ma.e Group (YM), 6 g of Ilex pa.a.ua.iensis in 100 ml wa.er a.d the sa.e diet, for 30 da.s. The YM group showed a.reduction in fina. body weight a.d food consumption without a.tering weight ga.n. Rega.ding ca.dia. remodeling, the YM group exhibited a.decrea.e in the right ventricle weight/fina. body weight ra.io, suggesting ca.dia. a.rophy, without a.fecting the a.ria.a.d left ventricle. There wa. no cha.ge in ca.diomyocyte a.ea.or nuclea. fra.ta. dimension in both groups. However, a.ima.s tha. consumed yerba.ma.e showed increa.ed colla.en deposition a.d a.sma.ler fra.ta. dimension in the left ventricle. The consumption of yerba.ma.e a. room tempera.ure for 30 da.s induced cha.ges in ca.dia. remodeling, a. evidenced by increa.ed colla.en deposition a.d a.tera.ions in fra.ta. dimension in the left ventricle.

a.M： TO study the implica.ion of prokineticin 1 （PKI/EGVEGF） a.d prokineticin 2 （PK2/13v8） in hepa.ocellula. ca.cinoma.a.giogenesis.METHODS： The gene induction of PK1/EG-VEGF a.d PK2/Bv8 wa. investiga.ed in 10 norma., 28 fibrotic a.d 28 tumora. livers by using rea. time PCR. Their expression wa. compa.ed to the expression of VEGF （a. a.giogenesis ma.ker）, vWF （a. endothelia. cell ma.ker） a.d to CD68 （a.monocyte/ma.ropha.e ma.ker）. Furthermore, the rnRNa.levels of PK1/EG-VEGF, PK2/Bv8, prokineticin receptor 1 a.d 2 were eva.ua.ed by rea. time PCR in isola.ed liver cell popula.ions. Fina.ly, PK2/Bv8 protein wa. detected in norma. liver pa.a.fin sections a.d in isola.ed liver cells by immunohistochernistry a.d immunocytochemistry.RESULTS： PK2/Bv8 mRNa.but not PK1/EG-VEGF wa. expressed in a.l types of norma. liver sa.ples exa.ined. In the context of liver tumor development, we reported tha. PK2/13v8 correla.es only with CD68 a.d showed a.significa.t decrea.e in expression a. the pa.hology evolves towa.ds ca.cer. Wherea., VEGF a.d vWF mRNa.were significa.tly upregula.ed in both fibrosis a.d HCC,a. expected. In a.dition, out of a.l isola.ed liver cells exa.ined, only Kupffer cells （liver resident ma.ropha.es） express significa.t levels of PK2/Bv8 a.d its receptors, prokineticin receptor 1 a.d 2.CONCLUSION： In norma. liver PK2/Bv8 a.d its receptors were specifica.ly expressed by Kupffer cells. PK2/Bv8 expression decrea.ed a. the liver evolves towa.ds ca.cer a.d did not correla.e with HCC a.giogenesis.

The objective of this review wa. to summa.ize the evidence concerning the benefit of va.icocele trea.ment to improve na.ura. fertility in subfertile ma.es. We a.so a.a.yzed the effect of va.icocele trea.ment on conventiona. semen pa.a.eters a.d sperm functiona. tests. a. electronic sea.ch to collect the da.a.wa. performed using the PubMed/MEDLINE da.a.a.es until July 2015. Da.a.pooled from a.va.iety of study designs indica.e tha. va.icocelectomy improves semen pa.a.eters in the ma.ority of the trea.ed men with clinica. va.icocele a.d a.norma. semen pa.a.eters rega.dless of the chosen surgica. method. Surgica. va.icocele repa.r wa. beneficia. not only for a.levia.ing oxida.ive stress-a.socia.ed infertility but a.so to improve sperm nuclea. DNa.integrity. However, given the low ma.nitude of the effect size in sperm DNa.integrity, further resea.ch is needed to elucida.e its clinica. significa.ce. Conflicting results on the effect of va.icocele trea.ment on na.ura. fertility seem to be due to heterogeneous study designs a.d, more importa.tly, pa.ient selection criteria. When these issues a.e controlled, current evidence indica.es tha. trea.ment of subclinica. va.icocele is not wa.ra.ted, a. it does not seem to improve fertility. On the contra.y, fa.r evidence indica.es tha. va.icocele trea.ment should be offered to infertile pa.ients with pa.pa.le va.icocele a.d a.norma. semen pa.a.eters. This evidence supports the current guidelines issued by the a.erica. Porta. hyperperfusion, venous pa.hology, a.d the a.teria. buffer response signif ica.tly contribute to clinica. a.d histopa.hologica. ma.ifesta.ions of SFSS. Here, we review the technica. a.pects of surgica. a.d ra.iologica. procedures developed to trea. SFSS in LRLT, a.ong with the pa.hophysiology of this condition.
