An exploratory multinuclear magnetic resonance(MR)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)study was performed on lithium-ion battery cells with ^(7)Li,^(19)F,and ^(1)H measurements.A variable field superconducting magnet with a fixed frequency parallel-plate radiofrequency(RF)probe was employed in the *** magnetic field was changed to set the resonance frequency of each nucleus to the fixed RF probe frequency of 33.7 *** cartridge-like lithium-ion cells,with graphite anodes and LiNi_(0.5)Mn_(0.3)Co_(0.2)O_(2)(NMC)cathodes,were *** cell was pristine,and one was charged to a cell voltage of 4.2 *** results presented demonstrate the great potential of the variable field magnet approach in multinuclear measurement of lithium-ion *** methods open the door for developing faster and simpler methods for detecting,quantifying,and interpreting MR and MRI data from lithium-ion and other batteries.

As a precise and versatile tool for genome manipulation,the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9(Cas9)platform holds promise for modifying fish traits of *** the aim of reducing transgene introgression and controlling reproduction,upscaled disease resistance and reproductive intervention in catfish species have been studied to lower the potential environmental risks of the introgression of escapees as transgenic *** advantage of the CRISPR/Cas9-mediated system,we succeeded in integrating the cathelicidin gene(As-Cath)from an alligator(Alligator sinensis)into the target luteinizing hormone(lh)locus of channel catfish(Ictalurus punctatus)using two delivery systems assisted by double-stranded DNA(dsDNA)and single-stranded oligodeoxynucleotides(ssODNs),*** this study,high knock in(KI)efficiency(22.38%,64/286)but low ontarget events was achieved using the ssODN strategy,whereas adopting a dsDNA as the donor template led to an efficient on-target KI(10.80%,23/213).The on-target KI of As-Cath was instrumental in establishing the lh knockout(LH^(–)_As-Cath^(+))catfish line,which displayed heightened disease resistance and reduced fecundity compared with the wild-type(WT)sibling ***,administration of human chorionic gonadotropin(HCg)and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analogue(LHRHa)can restore the reproduction of the transgenic fish ***,we replaced the lh gene with an alligator cathelicidin transgene and then administered hormone therapy to move towards complete reproductive control of diseaseresistant transgenic catfish in an environmentally responsible *** strategy not only effectively improves consumer-valued traits but also guards against unwanted introgression,providing a breakthrough in aquaculture genetics to confine fish reproduction and prevent the establishment of transgenic or domestic genotypes in the natural environment.

A numerical optimization of high altitude testing facility for wind tunnel experiments

Abstract High altitude test facilities are required to test the high area ratio nozzles operating at the upper stages of rocket in the nozzle full flow conditions. It is typically achieved by creating the ambient pressure equal or less than the nozzle exit pressure. On average, air/gN2 is used as active gas for ejector system that is stored in the high pressure cylinders. The wind tunnel facilities are used for conducting aerodynamic simulation experiments at/under various flow velocities and operating conditions. However, constructing both of these facilities require more laboratory space and expensive instruments. Because of this demerit, a novel scheme is implemented for conducting wind tunnel experiments by using the existing infrastructure available in the high altitude testing （HAT） facility. This article presents the details about the methods implemented for suitably modifying the sub-scale HAT facility to conduct wind tunnel experiments. Hence, the design of nozzle for required area ratio A/A＊, realization of test section and the optimized configuration are focused in the present analysis. Specific insights into various rocket models including high thrust cryogenic engines and their holding mechanisms to conduct wind tunnel experiments in the HAT facility are analyzed. A detailed CFD analysis is done to propose this conversion without affecting the existing functional requirements of the HAT facility.

Treatment-induced apoptosis of cancer cells is one goal of cancer ***,more heat is generated by mitochondria during apoptosis,especially the uncoupled apoptotic state,^(1,2) compared to the resting *** this case study,we explore these thermal effects by longitudinally measuring temperature variations in a breast lesion of a pathological complete responder during neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC).Diffuse Optical Spectroscopic Imaging(DOSI)was employed to derive absolute deep tissue temperature using subtle spectral features of the water peak at 975 nm.^(3)A significant temperature increase was observed in time windows during the anthracycline and cyclophosphamide(AC)regimen but not in the paclitaxel and bevacizumab *** concentration changes generally did not follow temperature,suggesting the measured temperature increases were likely due to mitochondrial uncoupling rather than a direct vascular effect.A simultaneous increase of tissue oxygen saturation with temperature was observed,suggesting that oxidative stress also contributes to *** preliminary,this study indicates longitudinal DOSI tissue temperature monitoring provides information that can improve our understanding of the mechanisms of tissue response during NAC.

Experimental and numerical analysis of compressible two-phase flows in a shock tube

The comparative study on seven equation models with two different six equations modelfor compressible two-phase flow analysis is proposed. The seven equations model isderived for compressible two-phase flow that is in the nonconservation form. In thepresent work, two different six equations model are derived for two pressures, two velocities and single temperature with the derivation of the equation of state. The closingequation for one of the six equations model is energy conservation equation while anotherone is closed by entropy balance equation. The partial differential form of governingequations is hyperbolic and written in the conservative form. At this point, the set ofgoverning equations are derived based on the principle of extended *** method of solving single temperature from both six equation models are simple anddirect solution can be obtained. Numerical simulation has been tried using one of the sixequation models for air–water shock tube problems. Explicit fourth order Runge–Kuttascheme is used with Finite Volume Shock Capturing method for solving the governingequations numerically. The pressure, velocity and volume fraction variations are captured along the shock tube length through flow solver. Experimental work is carried outto magnify the initial stage of liquid injection into a gas. The outcome of six equationsmodel for compressible two-phase flow has revealed the multi-phase flow characteristicsthat are similar to the actual conditions.

A new genus of the deep-sea pontoniine shrimps,Bathymenes gen. nov.,is established for the 'Periclimenes alcocki species group' of the genus Periclimenes Costa,1844. The new genus is distinguished from other genera of the Pontoniinae by a combination of characters: the posteriormost dorsal rostral tooth remote from other teeth,situated in the epigastric position,cornea usually reduced,the propodus of second pereiopods covered with fine granules,the dactylus of the major second chela being generally flanged,the ambulatory pereiopods with the dactyli being biunguiculate and telson with more than two pairs of dorsolateral spines. The genus is mainly distributed in the tropical to warm-temperate Indo-West Pacific waters at depths greater than 200 m. Fifteen species previously recognized as belonging to the 'P.a lcocki species group' are now placed in Bathymenes gen. nov. A key for their identification and a checklist of congeneric species are provided.

Biomimetics has an immense potential to drive the next generation of technologies forward by propounding competent solutions from *** decades,the nonsmooth topography of most living creatures has been critical to their existence and *** to human-made smooth surfaces,when adapted for fluid flow applications,nonsmooth surfaces can enhance the overall aerodynamic performance by reducing the drag ***,the bioinspired scale structure of fish has been identified as a key biomimetic derivative for improving the aerodynamic efficiency in various cross-domain *** study investigates the aerodynamics of a fish scale array(FSA)NACA 0021 model at a specific Reynolds number(Re)of approximately 2.46×105 that is meant for laminar flow conditions using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)tools and a subsonic wind tunnel facility.A 3D printed biomimetic FSA film is developed and affixed on the NACA 0021 wing profile for the experimental investigation,followed by flow visualization through the smoke tunnel *** proved qualitatively under specific aerodynamic conditions,the creation of velocity streaks has a major role in the drag reduction *** obtain a clear perspective of flow across the overlapping fish scale structures,the results are focused on the central and overlapping regions of the FSA *** experiment has proved the existence of a combined formation of low and high velocity streaks in central and overlapping *** FSA 0021 model showed a maximum drag reduction of 9.57%,which was attributed to the streak formation phenomenon observed in the overlapping FSA configuration.

At the time of re-entry modules entering into the atmosphere from space,a small perturbation introduces dynamic oscillations on the vehicle because of their extreme traveling *** dynamic stability characteristics of re-entry modules at hypersonic Mach numbers is of considerable relevance to their initial *** the present paper,the dynamic stability of blunt cone model about 10◦is examined with wide range of design parameters such as nose bluntness,semi-vertex angle and center of rotation through theoretical and experimental *** approximations are made over a model based on the standard Newtonian *** are conducted at 0.25m hypersonic wind tunnel at M=8.3 and the following trends are observed from the experimental ***,the incremental higher nose bluntness,semi-vertex angle and center of rotation reduce the dynamic *** higher hypersonic Mach numbers(M>10),dynamic stability characteristics of the re-entry module are insensitive to the free stream Mach ***,it is observed that the dynamic stability is increased in proportion to the vibration amplitude at hypersonic speeds.

Bioinspired active camber morphing is an innovative solution for the aerodynamic performance enhancement of flight vehicles such as Micro Aerial Vehicles(MAVs)and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs).In the present article,a bio-inspired Fish Bone Active Camber(FishBAC)corrugated rib design concept with and without a spine for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)is *** wing model is composed of multiple corrugated ribs and a splitted spar for connecting each *** rib geometry is subjected to static structural analysis using ANSYS Finite Element Analysis(FEA)module under the unit load *** deformation modes are first extracted from the solution of the wind tunnel test and the elastically deformed NACA 4412 profile will be used to perform Fluid-Structure Interaction(FSI)studies as a partly coupled *** corrugated rib with spine design is a stable structure as inspired from nature species that can withstand elastic and inertial *** fluid dynamics(CFD)simulation is performed to compute the coefficient of lift(Cl),coefficient of drag(Cd)at different Angle of Attack(AoA)for a modified NACA 4412 airfoil and the pressure loads acting on the deformed shape is *** Cl obtained for the modified airfoil at lower AoA is about 60–80%higher and the maximum Cl(Clmax)is 62%higher than the baseline *** Cd of modified airfoil is reduced about 20%at the AoAα=3°as compared with the baseline *** proposed corrugated rib structure has been successfully 3D printed with Polylactic Acid plus(PLA+)material and the wind tunnel testing is done to validate the Cl,Cd values obtained through CFD simulations and the results are presented.
