Plants have evolved and diversified to reduce the damages imposed by in- fectious pathogens and herbivorous insects. Living in a sedentary lifestyle, plants are constantly adapting to their environment. They employ various strategies to increase per- formance and fitness. Thus, plants developed cost-effective strategies to defend against specific insects and pathogens. Plant defense, however, imposes selective pressure on in- sects and pathogens. This selective pressure provides incentives for pathogens and insects to diversify and develop strategies to counter plant defense. This results in an evolution- ary arms race among plants, pathogens and insects. The ever-changing adaptations and physiological alterations among these organisms make studying plant-vector-pathogen interactions a challenging and fascinating field. Studying plant defense and plant protec- tion requires knowledge of the relationship among organisms and the adaptive strategies each organism utilize. Therefore, this review focuses on the integral parts of plant-vector- pathogen interactions in order to understand the factors that affect plant defense and disease development. The review addresses plant-vector-pathogen co-evolution, plant defense strategies, specificity of plant defenses and plant-vector pathogen interactions. Improving the comprehension of these factors will provide a multi-dimensional perspective for the future research in pest and disease management.

Trilinolein is a triacylglycerol purified from a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine Panax notoginseng. Trilinolein has been reported to provide a number of beneficial effects including reducing thrombogenicity and arrhythmias and increasing erythrocyte deformability. Additionally, trilinolein has been reported to be an antioxidant, which can counteract free radical damage associated with atherogenesis, and myocardial damage seen with is-chaemia and reperfusion. These pharmacologic effects may explain the perceived benefits derived from treating circulatory disorders with the herb over the centuries.

A fundamental aspect of society is the exchange and discussion of opinions between individuals, occurring in situations as varied as company boardrooms, elementary school classrooms and online social media. After a very brief introduction to the established results of the most fundamental opinion dynamics models, which seek to mathematically capture observed social phenomena, a brief discussion follows on several recent themes pursued by the authors building on the fundamental ideas. In the first theme, we study the way an individual′s self-confidence can develop through contributing to discussions on a sequence of topics, reaching a consensus in each case,where the consensus value to some degree reflects the contribution of that individual to the conclusion. During this process, the individuals in the network and the way they interact can change. The second theme introduces a novel discrete-time model of opinion dynamics to study how discrepancies between an individual′s expressed and private opinions can arise due to stubbornness and a pressure to conform to a social norm. It is also shown that a few extremists can create "pluralistic ignorance", where people believe there is majority support for a position but in fact the position is privately rejected by the majority. Last, we consider a group of individuals discussing a collection of logically related topics. In particular, we identify that for topics whose logical interdependencies take on a cascade structure,disagreement in opinions can occur if individuals have competing and/or heterogeneous views on how the topics are related, i.e., the logical interdependence structure varies between individuals.

Natural gases containing sour components exhibit different gas compressibility factor （Z） behavior than do sweet gases. Therefore, a new accurate method should be developed to account for these differences. Several methods are available today for calculating the Z-factor from an equation of state. However, these equations are more complex than the foregoing correlations, involving a large number of parameters, which require more complicated and longer computations. The aim of this study is to develop a simplified calculation method for a rapid estimating Z-factor for sour natural gases containing as much as 90% total acid gas. In this article, two new correlations are first presented for calculating the pseudo- critical pressure and temperature of the gas mixture as a function of the gas specific gravity. Then, a simple correlation on the basis of the standard gas compressibility factor chart is introduced for a quick estimation of sweet gases＇ compressibility factor as a function of reduced pressure and temperature. Finally, a new corrective term related to the mole fractions of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide is developed.

The 90-kilo Dalton(kD) heat shock protein(Hsp90) is a ubiquitous,ATP-dependent molecular chaperone whose primary function is to ensure the proper folding of several hundred client protein *** many of these clients are overexpressed or become mutated during cancer progression,Hsp90 inhibition has been pursued as a potential strategy for cancer as one can target multiple oncoproteins and signaling pathways *** first discovered Hsp90 inhibitors,geldanamycin and radicicol,function by competitively binding to Hsp90’s N-terminal binding site and inhibiting its ATPase ***,most of these N-terminal inhibitors exhibited detrimental activities during clinical evaluation due to induction of the pro-survival heat shock response as well as poor selectivity amongst the four ***,alternative approaches to Hsp90 inhibition have been pursued and include C-terminal inhibition,isoform-selective inhibition,and the disruption of Hsp90 protein-protein *** the Hsp90 protein folding cycle requires the assembly of Hsp90 into a large heteroprotein complex,along with various co-chaperones and immunophilins,the development of small molecules that prevent assembly of the complex offers an alternative method of Hsp90 inhibition.

Evaluation of CRU TS, GPCC, AgMERRA, and AgCFSR meteorological datasets for estimating climate and crop variables: A case study of maize in Qazvin Province, Iran

In the past few decades,meteorological datasets from remote sensing techniques in agricultural and water resources management have been used by various researchers and *** on the literature,meteorological datasets are not more accurate than synoptic stations,but their various advantages,such as spatial coverage,time coverage,accessibility,and free use,have made these techniques superior,and sometimes we can use them instead of synoptic *** this study,we used four meteorological datasets,including Climatic Research Unit gridded Time Series(CRU TS),Global Precipitation Climatology Centre(GPCC),Agricultural National Aeronautics and Space Administration Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications(AgMERRA),Agricultural Climate Forecast System Reanalysis(AgCFSR),to estimate climate variables,i.e.,precipitation,maximum temperature,and minimum temperature,and crop variables,i.e.,reference evapotranspiration,irrigation requirement,biomass,and yield of maize,in Qazvin Province of Iran during *** first,data were gathered from the four meteorological datasets and synoptic station in this province,and climate variables were ***,after using the AquaCrop model to calculate the crop variables,we compared the results of the synoptic station and meteorological *** the four meteorological datasets showed strong performance for estimating climate *** and AgCFSR had more accurate estimations for precipitation and maximum ***,their normalized root mean square error was inferior to CRU for minimum ***,they were all very efficient for estimating the biomass and yield of maize in this *** reference evapotranspiration and irrigation requirement CRU TS and GPCC were the most efficient rather than AgMERRA and *** for the estimation of biomass and yield,all the four meteorological datasets were *** sum up,GPCC and AgCFSR were the two best datasets in thi

The homogenized response of metal matrix composites（MMC） is studied using strain gradient *** material model employed is a rate independent formulation of energetic strain gradient plasticity at the micro scale and conventional rate independent plasticity at the macro scale. Free energy inside the micro structure is included due to the elastic strains and plastic strain gradients. A unit cell containing a circular elastic fiber is analyzed under macroscopic simple shear in addition to transverse and longitudinal loading. The analyses are carried out under generalized plane strain condition. Micro-macro homogenization is performed observing the Hill-Mandel energy condition,and overall loading is considered such that the homogenized higher order terms vanish. The results highlight the intrinsic size-effects as well as the effect of fiber volume fraction on the overall response curves, plastic strain distributions and homogenized yield surfaces under different loading conditions. It is concluded that composites with smaller reinforcement size have larger initial yield surfaces and furthermore,they exhibit more kinematic hardening.

Real-time hybrid simulation is an attractive method to evaluate the response of structures under earthquake loads. The method is a variation of the pseudodynamic testing technique in which the experiment is executed in real time, thus allowing investigation of structural systems with rate-dependent components. Real-time hybrid simulation is challenging because it requires performance of all calculations, application of displacements, and acquisition of measured forces, within a very small increment of time. Furthermore, unless appropriate compensation for actuator dynamics is implemented, stability problems are likely to occur during the experiment. This paper presents an approach for real-time hybrid simulation in which compensation for actuator dynamics is implemented using a model-based feedforward compensator. The method is used to evaluate the response of a semi-active control of a structure employing an MR damper. Experimental results show good agreement with the predicted responses, demonstrating the effectiveness of the method for structural control performance assessment.
