This article describes recent advances in the capability of new satellite sensors for observing Tropical Cyclones(TC)fine structure,wind field,and temporal *** article is based on a World Meteorological Organization(WMO)report prepared for the 10th International Workshop on Tropical Cyclones(IWTC),held in Bali in December 2022,and its objective is to present updates in TC research and operation every four *** we focus on updates regarding the most recent space-based TC observations,and we cover new methodologies and techniques using polar orbiting sensors,such as C-band synthetic aperture radars(SARs),l-band and combined C/X-band radiometers,scatterometers,and microwave imagers/*** additionally address progress made with the new generation of geostationary and small satellites,and discuss future sensors planned to be launched in the next *** then briefly describe some examples on how the newest sensors are used in operations and data assimilation for TC forecasting and research,and conclude the article with a discussion on the remaining challenges of TC space-based observations and possible ways to address them in the near future.

Mastabol induced acute cholestasis: A case report

A 26-year-old male presented with three weeks of jaundice after the self-initiation of the injectable anabolic steroid, Mastabol [Dromastanolone Di-Propionate (17 beta-Hydroxy-2alpha-methyl-5alpha-androstan-3one propionate)]. He reported dark urine, light stools, and pruritus. He denied abdominal pain, intravenous drug use, intranasal cocaine, blood transfusions, newly placed tattoos, or sexually transmitted diseases. He used alcohol sparingly. Physical exam revealed jaundice with deep scleral icterus. The liver was palpable 2 cm below the right costal margin with no ascites. The peak bilirubin was 23.6 mg/dl, alkaline phosphatase was 441 units/l, and aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase were 70 units/l and 117 units/l respectively. A working diagnosis of acute intrahepatic cholestasis was made. liver biopsy revealed a centrilobular insult with neutrophilic infiltrates and Ito cell hyperplasia consistent with acute drug induced cholestasis. The patient' s clinical symptoms resolved and his liver enzymes, bilirubin, and alkaline phosphatase normalized. Anabolic steroids with 17 alpha carbon substitutions have been associated with a bland variety of cholestatic injury with little hepatocellular injury. Cholestasis, under these circumstances, may be secondary to the binding of drugs to canalicular membrane transporters, accumulation of toxic bile acids from canalicular pump failure, or genetic defects in canalicular transport proteins. Mastabol is an injectable, 17 beta hydroxyl compound with no alpha alkyl groups at the 17 carbon position. As such, it has been reported to have little potential toxic effects on the liver. This is the first known reported case of Mastabolinduced cholestatic liver injury. It highlights the need for physicians to consider such widely available substances when faced with hepatic injury of unclear etiology.

A modelling study for the integration of a PEMFC microCHP in domestic building services design

Fuel cell based micro-combined heat and power( CHP) units used for domestic applications can provide significant cost and environmental benefits for end users and contribute to the UK 's 2050 emissions target by reducing primary energy consumption in dwellings. lately there has been increased interest in the development of systematic methods for the design of such systems and their smoother integration with domestic building services. Several models in the literature,whether they use a simulation or an optimisation approach,ignore the dwelling side of the system and optimise the efficiency or delivered power of the unit. However the design of the building services is linked to the choice of heating plant and its characteristics. Adding the dwelling's energy demand and temperature constraints in a model canproduce more general results that can optimise the whole system,not only the micro-CHP unit. The fuel cell has various heat streams that can be harvested to satisfy heat demand in a dwelling and the design can vary depending on the proportion of heat needed from each heat stream to serve the energy demand. A mixed integer non-linear programming model( M INlP) that can handle multiple heat sources and demands is presented in this *** methodology utilises a process systems engineering approach. The model can provide a design that integrates the temperature and water flowconstraints of a dwelling's heating system with the heat streams within the fuel cell processes while optimising total CO2 emissions. The model is demonstrated through different case studies that attempt to capture the variability of the housing stock. The predicted CO2 emissions reduction compared to a conventionally designed building vary from 27%to 30%and the optimum capacity of the fuel cell ranges between 1. 9 kW and3. 6 kW. This research represents a significant step towards an integrated fuel cell micro-CHP and dwelling design.

睾丸扭转在25岁以下的男性中其发病率约为1/4 000,其高发人群为新生儿和进入青春期的青少年。睾丸扭转的误诊率为4%,非同期的双侧睾丸扭转被误诊的发病率没有报导。本文报道1例由于双侧睾丸扭转误诊后导致的睾丸功能衰竭、性腺功能低下及勃起功能障碍。患者在睾丸扭转10年后才因不育和勃起功能障碍就诊,精液分析检查为无精症,血清中的睾酮水平降低到去势的水平(0.14 nmol/l)。其不育为永久性,其勃起功能经睾酮替代和使用西地那非后得以恢复。

Ⅱ型糖尿病以氧化应激增加和内皮功能紊乱为特征。二者在动脉粥样硬化性疾病发生和发展中起重要作用。短期动脉注射维生素C能增加Ⅱ型糖尿病患者内皮依赖的血管舒张反应,提示内皮功能障碍继发于氧化应激增加,可能原因为活性氧族如过氧化物阴离子阻断内皮来源的NO。为了解口服抗氧化剂能否降低Ⅱ型糖尿病患者氧化应激及改善内皮功能,我们研究一种新的类维生素E的水溶性抗氧化剂raxofelast在糖尿病及正常人中的作用。检测血浆8-epi-PGF2α浓度表示氧化应激,输注乙酰胆碱后血管的反应性表示内皮功能。

The Other Wounded Heroes of The Sun Also Rises

Jake Barnes is not the only wounded character in The Sun Also Rises （1926）： All the major characters, except Bill, and several minor characters are also wounded. This paper examines how those wounded characters reflect on both Jake Barnes and Hemingway＇s philosophy that we are all wounded in life and must make choices that allow us to live as best we can without hurting others. By close reading, the author hopes to show how two characters, Belmonte and brett Ashley, may have been undervalued by critics, and to also show Hemingway＇s essential ambiguity in portraying human relationships, leaving final judgments up to his readers.
