Introduction The bench press is commonly used to measure upper-body *** much emphasis has been placed on the upper-body,little is known about how the lower-body can play a role in bench press ***-drive is a technique that includes flexing the knee so the feet line up posterior to the knee joint,while simultaneously contracting the knee extensors isometrically during the *** purpose of this study was to compare strength characteristics of lifters in a standard bench press versus a leg-drive bench press over the course of 5-weeks of *** Twenty-three recreationally active males(age:22.4±2.1 years,height:175.0±5.9 cm,mass:78.4±9.5 kg)were randomized into a standard bench or leg-drive bench press *** performed four sets to failure,two times per week for five *** of interests were training volume and 1-repetition maximum(1Rm)*** training volume,a 2×5(group×week)repeated measures analysis of variance(RmANOVA)was *** the 1Rm’s,a 2×2×2(group×press type×time)RmANOVA was used.A priori alpha levels were set to *** Over time,both groups showed an approximate 6%increase in 1Rm *** volume for week 4 was 5.6%less than week 5,but was not different from weeks 1 through *** between-group differences were observed for 1Rm strength or training *** This results of this work indicates that 5 weeks of leg-drive training is effective in increasing 1Rm strength,but was not more effective than standard bench press ***,lifters should choose either lifting style based on personal preference.

BACKGROUND There is concern regarding potential long-term cardiotoxicity with systemic distribution of metals in total joint arthroplasty(TJA)*** To determine the association of commonly used implant metals with echocardiographic measures in TJA *** The study comprised 110 TJA patients who had a recent history of high chromium,cobalt or titanium *** underwent two-dimensional,three-dimensional,Doppler and speckle-strain transthoracic echocardiography and a blood draw to measure metal *** and sex-adjusted linear and logistic regression models were used to examine the association of metal concentrations(exposure)with echocardiographic measures(outcome).RESULTS Higher cobalt concentrations were associated with increased left ventricular end-diastolic volume(estimate 5.09;95%CI:0.02-10.17)as well as left atrial and right ventricular dilation,particularly in men but no changes in cardiac *** titanium concentrations were associated with a reduction in left ventricle global longitudinal strain(estimate 0.38;95%CI:0.70 to 0.06)and cardiac index(estimate 0.08;95%CI,-0.15 to-0.01).CONCLUSION Elevated cobalt and titanium concentrations may be associated with structural and functional cardiac changes in some *** studies are warranted to better understand the systemic effects of metals in TJA patients.

An analysis of air pollution associated with the 2023 sand and dust storms over China:Aerosol properties and Pm_(10) variability

Every spring,a large part of China is confronted with sand and dust storms(SDS)–mainly originating in the Gobi(including Chinese and mongolian Gobi)and Taklamakan *** march-April 2023,most of northern,northwestern and northeastern China was struck by three sandstorms that affected an area with more than 500 million *** this study,aerosol optical,microphysical and radiative properties were studied during these SDS events using an integrated approach that combines satellite,terrestrial and re-analysis *** results showed that dusty conditions were observed in most areas north of the Yangtze River(Chang Jiang)with daily average Pm_(10)concentrations exceeding 1000 lg/m^(3) in many *** aerosol optical depth(AOD)at 550 nm during three SDS events exceeded a value of 1 throughout nearly the entire northern part of the *** AERONET data obtained from the AOE_Baotou site showed a significant increase in total AOD and a corresponding decrease in AE during the *** single scattering albedo(SSA),asymmetry parameter(ASY),real refractive index(RRI)and imaginary refractive index(IRI)values indicate an abundance of scattering coarse-mode *** radiative forcing(ARF)at top of the atmosphere and at the earth’s surface was nearly always negative during the period and ranged from48.5 to+2.7 Wm^(-2)and from180.8 to66.6 Wm^(-2),resulting in high positive ARF values at ATm(from+63.8 to+132.3 Wm^(-2)).Each of these affects the heating of the atmosphere and cooling on the earth’s *** atmospheric heating rates ranged from 1.8 to 3.7 K day*** formation of these SDS mainly resulted from the passage of cold fronts associated with low pressure systems in the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts,creating conditions for dust to rise into the atmosphere and move further downwind.

For the applications of the frequency comb in microresonators,it is essential to obtain a fully frequency-stabilized microcomb laser *** this study,we present a system for generating a fully atom-referenced stabilized soliton *** pump light around 1560.48 nm is locked to an ultra-low-expansion(ULE)*** pump light is then frequency-doubled and referenced to the atomic transition *** repetition rate of the soliton microcomb is injection-locked to an atomic-clockstabilized radio frequency(RF)source,leading to mHz stabilization at 1 *** a result,all comb lines have been frequencystabilized based on the atomic reference and the ULE cavity,achieving a very high precision of approximately 18 Hz at 1 s,corresponding to the frequency stability of 9.5×10^(-14).Our approach provides a fully stabilized microcomb experiment scheme with no requirement of f-2f technique,which could be easily implemented and generalized to various photonic platforms,thus paving the way towards the ultraprecise optical sources for high precision spectroscopy.

在电子扫描显微镜下观察了穇属(Eleusine Gaertn.)9种植物颖果的微形态特征。结果表明,穇属颖果有卵形、披针形和矩圆形3种腹面形状,压扁方式有背腹压扁及两侧压扁,腹面形态有平腹面和凹腹面两种,胚比为0.29～0.58,种脐比为0.10～0.24,颖果纹饰有2种,包括疣突状一级纹饰和疣突规则排列构成的复合网状(二级)纹饰,表面小孔平均直径0.57～1.31μm,分布密度为30～200个(100μm-2)。穇属植物的颖果腹面形状、纹饰、表面小孔直径及平均密度等性状,可为种类鉴定及种间关系分析提供有价值的证据。穇属颖果腹面形态呈平腹面或凹腹面,颖果体积相对小,生活周期相对缩短,这可能是与东非季节性干旱气候相适应的。

Caffeine Increases Rate of Torque Development Without Affecting maximal Torque

Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of caffeine on peak torque(PT),rate of torque development(RTD),and muscle activation in college-age *** Fifteen men(23.3±2.2 years,177.6±8.7 cm,90.3±19.1 kg)volunteered to participate in this *** each of two test sessions,maximal leg extension PT and RTD were determined and electromyographic(EmG)and mechano-myographic(mmG)signals were collected to examine electrical and mechanical aspects of muscle activation,*** also performed the Wingate Anaerobic Test(WAnT)for the determination of peak power(PP),mean power(mP),and fatigue percentage(FP).For the first test session,participants were randomly assigned to ingest either a caffein-ated drink(6 mg/kg)or a placebo 1 h prior to *** second test session was identical to the first,but the drink not previously administered was ingested prior to *** The results indicated there were no significant effects of caffeine on PT,PP,mP,FP,or EmG and mmG ***,RTD was positively affected by caffeine(856.4±246.4 Nm/s)compared to the placebo condition(710.9±267.9 Nm/s).Conclusions These results suggest that caffeine can be an effective aid for sport activities requiring maximal rates of force or torque development during very short time periods.

Consensus-based dispatch optimization of a microgrid considering meta-heuristic-based demand response scheduling and network packet loss characterization

The uncertainty inherent in power load forecasts represents a major factor in the mismatches between supply and demand in renewables-rich electricity networks, which consequently increases the energy bills and curtailed generation. As the transition to a power grid founded on the so-called grid-of-grids becomes more evident, the need for distributed control algorithms capable of handling computationally challenging problems in the energy sector does so as well. In this light, the consensus-based distributed algorithm has recently been shown to provide an effective platform for solving the complex energy management problem in microgrids. more specifically, in a microgrid context, the consensus-based distributed algorithm requires reliable information exchange with customers to achieve convergence. However, packet losses remain an important issue, which can potentially result in the failure of the overall system. In this setting, this paper introduces a novel method to effectively characterize such packet losses during information exchange between the customers and the microgrid operator, whilst solving the microgrid scheduling optimization problem for a multi-agent-based microgrid. more specifically, the proposed framework leverages the virulence optimization algorithm and the earth-worm optimization algorithm to optimally shift the energy consumption during peak periods to lower-priced off-peak hours. The effectiveness of the proposed method in minimizing the overall active power mismatches in the presence of packet losses has also been demonstrated based on benchmarking the results against the business-as-usual iterative scheduling algorithm. Also, the robustness of the overall meta-heuristic- and multi-agent-based method in producing optimal results is confirmed based on comparing the results obtained by several well-established meta-heuristic optimization algorithms, including the binary particle swarm optimization, the genetic algorithm, and the cuckoo search op
