Sharing roosts but not ectoparasites:high host-specificity in bat flies and wing mites of Miniopterus schreibersii and Rhinolophus ferrumequinum(Mammalia:Chiroptera)

Schreiber’s bent-winged bat Miniopterus schreibersii and the greater horseshoe bat Rhinolophus ferrumequinum are widespread and common cavernicolous species across southern Europe that host numerous specialized ectoparasite *** objective of this study was to characterize the species assemblage,genetic diversity,and host specificity of bat flies(Nycteribiidae,Diptera)and wing mites(Spinturnicidae,Acari)found on these bat hosts in Serbia and Bosnia and ***,while bat flies lay puparia on the cave walls and can thus be transmitted indirectly,wing mites require direct body contact for *** identification and sequencing of a 710-bp fragment of cytochrome oxidase I gene of 207 bat flies yielded 4 species,3 on *** and 1 on *** of a 460-bp small subunit ribosomal RNA fragment,in all 190 collected wing mites revealed 2 species,1 per *** no case was a parasite associated with 1 host found on the other *** and genetic diversity of flies were higher in ***,likely reflecting their host’s larger colony sizes and migratory *** species of both hosts showed similarly low diversity,likely due to their faster life history and lower winter *** findings highlight a remarkably high host-specificity and segregation of ectoparasite species despite direct contact among their hosts in the roost,suggesting a defined host preference in the investigated ectoparasite ***,the differences in ectoparasite genetic diversity exemplify the interplay between host and parasite life histories in shaping parasite population genetic structure.

Psychiatric comorbidity in the treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease

Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, commonly known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), draw attention from specialists of various disorders, including gastroenterology, psychiatry, and radiology. The involvement of a cortical influence in the brain-gut axis as well as the interaction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the peripheral nervous system provide an initial explanation of the psychological symptoms associated with IBD. The involvement of structures the limbic system, such as the anterior cingulate cortex, the prefrontal cortex, and the amygdala, paves the way for the discovery of the mechanisms underlying depression depression, anxiety, alexithymia, personality traits, and other psychological impairments following the onset of IBD. Psychiatric therapy in IBD patients is almost as important as the gastroenterological approach and consists of pharmacological treatment and psychotherapy. Neither of the available psychiatric treatment methods is considered the golden standard because both methods have side effects, and psychotropic medication can provoke the worsening of IBD symptoms. Thus, both approaches must be applied with awareness of the possibility of side effects. We suggest that psychiatrists and gastroenterologists work together to reach a consensus on IBD therapy to ensure success and to reduce side effects and relapse to the lowest possible rates.

Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)-based computation offloading is a promising application paradigm for serving large numbers of users with various delay and energy *** this paper,we propose a flexible MECbased requirement-adaptive partial offloading model to accommodate each user's specific preference regarding delay and energy *** address the dimensional differences between time and energy,we introduce two normalized parameters and then derive the computational overhead of processing *** from existing works,this paper considers practical variations in the user request patterns,and exploits a flexible partial offloading mode to minimize computation overheads subject to tolerable delay,task workload and power *** the resulting problem is non-convex,we decouple it into two convex subproblems and present an iterative algorithm to obtain a feasible offloading *** experiments show that our proposed scheme achieves a significant improvement in computation overheads compared with existing schemes.

A rare case of enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma presenting as acute renal failure

Enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma （EATCL） is a high grade, pleomorphic peripheral T-cell lymphoma usually with cytotoxic phenotypes. We describe a first case of patient with EATCL that is remarkable for its fulminant course and invasion of both kidneys manifested as acute renal failure. The patient was a 23 year old woman with a long history of celiac disease. She was presented with acute renal failure and enlarged mononuclear infiltrated kidneys. Diagnosis of tubuloi-nterstitial nephritis and polyserositis was confirmed with consecutive pulse doses of steroid therapy. After reco-very, she had disseminated disease two months later. Magnetic resonance imaging showed thickened intestine wall, extremely augmented kidneys, enlarged intra-abdominal lymph nodes with extra-luminal compression of common bile duct. Laparotomy with mesenterial adipous tissue and lymph glands biopsy was done. Consecutive pathophysiological and immunohistochemical analyses confirmed the diagnosis of EATCL： CD45RO＋, CD43＋, CD3＋. The revision of renal pathophysiology sub-stantiated the diagnosis. The patient received chemotherapy, but unfortunately she died manifesting signs of pulmonary embolism caused by tumor cells.

High-Performance Beamformer and Low-Complexity Detector for DF-Based Full-Duplex MIMO Relaying Networks

In this paper, we consider a *** *** ***(MIMO) relaying network with the ***(DF) protocol. Due to the *** transmissions, the *** from the relay transmitter to the relay receiver degrades the system performance. We thus propose an iterative beamforming structure(IBS) to mitigate the ***. In this method, the receive beamforming at the relay is optimized to maximize the ***(***), while the transmit beamforming at the relay is optimized to maximize the ***(***). To further improve the performance, the receive and transmit beamforming matrices are optimized between *** and *** in an iterative manner. Furthermore, in the presence of the residual ***, a *** ***(WF) maximum likelihood(ML) detector is proposed. In this detector, a WF is designed to transform a colored *** to a white noise, while the singular value decomposition is used to convert coupled spatial subchannels to parallelindependent ones. From simulations, we find that the proposed IBS performs much better than the existing schemes. Also, the proposed *** detector significantly reduces the complexity of the conventional ML(CML) detector from exponential time(an exponential function of the number of the source transmit antennas) to polynomial one while achieving a slightly better BER performance than the CML due to interference whitening.

Depression and anxiety levels in therapy-nave patients with inflammatory bowel disease and cancer of the colon

AIM: To assess whether depression and anxiety are more expressed in patients with the first episode of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) than in individuals with newly discovered cancer of the colon (CCa). METHODS: A total of 32 patients with IBD including 13 males and 19 females, aged 27 to 74, and 30 patients with CCa including 20 males and 10 females, aged 39-78, underwent a structured interview, which comprised Hamilton’s Depression Rating Inventory, Hamilton’s Anxiety Rating Inventory and Paykel’s Stressful Events Rating Scale. RESULTS: Patients of the IBD group expressed both depression and anxiety. Depressive mood, sense of guilt, psychomotor retardation and somatic anxiety were also more pronounced in IBD patients. The discriminant function analysis revealed the total depressive score was of high importance for the classification of a newly diagnosed patient into one of the groups. CONCLUSION: Newly diagnosed patients with IBD have higher levels of depression and anxiety. Moreover, a psychiatrist in the treatment team is advisable from the beginning.

In multiple sclerosis(MS),human endogenous retrovirus W family(HERV-W)envelope protein,pHERV-W ENV,limits remyelination and induces microglia-mediated *** better understand its role,we examined the soluble pHERV-W antigen from MS brain lesions detected by specific ***-chemical and antigenic characteristics confirmed differences between pHERV-W ENV and ***-W ENV monomers and trimers remained associated with membranes,while hexamers self-assembled from monomers into a soluble macrostructure involving sulfatides in MS *** hexamers are stabilized by internal hydrophobic bonds and external hydrophilic ***-W studies in MS also suggest that this diffusible antigen may correspond to a previously described highmolecular-weight neurotoxic factor secreted by MS B-cells and thus represents a major agonist in MS *** methods are now needed to identify encoding HERV provirus(es)in affected cells *** properties and origin of MS brain pHERV-W ENV soluble antigen will allow a better understanding of the role of HERVs in MS *** present results anyhow pave the way to an accurate detection of the different forms of pHERV-W ENV antigen with appropriate conditions that remained unseen until now.
