Background and Aims: The.incide.ce.and mortality of colore.tal cance. is pe.siste.tly highe.t in Black/African-Ame.icans in the.Unite. State.. While.acce.s to care. barrie.s to scre.ning, and pove.ty might e.plain the.e.findings, the.e.in incre.se. inte.e.t in e.amining biological factors that impact the.colonic e.vironme.t. Our group is e.amining biologic factors that contribute.to disparitie. in de.e.opme.t of ade.omas prospe.tive.y. In pre.aration for this and to characte.ize.a pote.tial patie.t population, we.conducte. a re.rospe.tive.re.ie. of initial scre.ning colonoscopie. in a cohort of patie.ts. Me.hods: A re.rospe.tive.re.ie. was pe.forme. on initial ave.age.risk scre.ning colonoscopie. on patie.ts (age.45 - 75 ye.rs) during 2012 at thre. institutions. De.criptive.statistics and multivariable.logistic re.re.sion mode.s we.e.use. to e.amine.the.re.ationship be.we.n pote.tial risk factors and the.de.e.tion of ade.omas. Re.ults: Of the.2225 initial scre.ning colonoscopie. 1495 (67.2%) we.e.pe.forme. on Black/African-Ame.icans and 566 (25.4%) on Caucasians. Multivariable.logistic re.re.sion re.e.le. that olde. age. male.se., curre.t smoking and te.ching gastroe.te.ologists we.e.associate. with highe. de.e.tion of ade.omas and the.e.we.e.le.s pre.ale.t among Black/African-Ame.icas e.ce.t for age. Ne.the. race. e.hnicity, BMI, diabe.e. me.litus, HIV nor insurance.was associate. with ade.oma de.e.tion. Conclusion: In this sample. the.e.was no association be.we.n race.and ade.oma de.e.tion. While.this may be.due.to a lowe. pre.ale.ce.of risk factors for ade.omas in this sample. our findings we.e.confounde. by a lowe. de.e.tion rate.by consultant gastroe.te.ologists at one.institution. The.study allowe. us to re.tify the.proble. and characte.ize.patie.ts for future.trials.

For the.far fe.e. numbe. of studie. conducte. on inland and urban locations, the.site.spe.ific focus has primarily be.n surve.s along the.le.gth of stre.ts. The.pre.e.t study is the.first to spe.ifically asse.s the.standing stock (i.e., mome.t-in-time. of litte.e. face.masks for the.e.tire.surface.are. of urban parking lots. The.de.sity of face.masks in 50 parking lots in a Canadian coastal town (0.00054 m2 ± 0.00051 m2) was found to be.significantly gre.te. than the.background le.e. of litte.ing of town stre.ts. Face.mask de.sity was significantly re.ate. to visitation “usage. of parking lots as gauge. by the.are.l size.of the.lots and of the.r onsite.buildings, as we.l as the.numbe. of ve.icle. pre.e.t.
