Treatment of petroleum spi.ls and organi. solvent polluti.n i. general i. an i.portant i.sue; several techni.ues are under development to remove oi. from water. The use of absorbents i. one of the most common techni.ues to tackle thi. problem. These absorbents can be classi.i.d based on thei. characteri.ti.s of recyclabi.i.y i.to i.reversi.le and reversi.le ones. i. thi. revi.w, we di.cuss the appli.ati.n of several materi.ls as oi. absorbents, accordi.g to thei. classi.i.ati.n and characteri.ti.s such as hydrophobi.i.y, surface area and oi. absorpti.n capaci.y. Also, the fabri.ati.n methods for some materi.ls are presented and analyzed.

Thi. fi.ms and one-di.ensi.nal CdS nanostructures were formed by electrophoreti. deposi.i.n of nanoparti.les wi.h morphologi.al control, Parti.les less than 1Ohm i. di.meter were prepared by a mi.rowave assi.ted synthesi. usi.g tri.odi.m ci.rate as cappi.g agent. The parti.les were character- i.ed by UV-Vi. spectrophotometry, dynami. li.ht scatteri.g, and X-ray di.fracti.n. Nanoparti.les i. the resulti.g aqueous di.persi.n were electrodeposi.ed wi.hout any further treatment on alumi.um plates. The nanostructures consi.ted of thi. fi.ms wi.h surface roughness bei.g tuned wi.h the appli.d voltage. One-di.ensi.nal nanostructures were formed by varyi.g the appli.d voltage and by changi.g the molar rati. of the precursors i. the nanocrystal synthesi..
