Effects of an Urban Park and Residential Area on the Atmospheric CO_2 Concentration and Flux in Seoul,Korea

The CO2 concentrations and fluxes over an urban forest site （Namsan） and an urban residential region （Boramae） in Seoul, Korea, during the non-growing season （2 4 March 2011）, the growing season （10-12 June 2011）, and the late-growing season （22-24 September 2011） were analyzed. The CO2 concentrations of two sites showed nearly the same diurnal variation, with a maximum value occurring during the night and a minimum value occurring during daytime, as well as the same seasonal variation, with a maximum value during the non-growing season （early spring） and a minimum value during the growing season （summer）. The CO2 flux over the urban forest did not show any typical diurnal variation during the non-growing season, but did show diurnal variation with a small positive value during the night and a large negative value during daytime in the growing and late-growing seasons due to photosynthesis in the urban forest. The CO2 flux over the urban residential region showed a positive daily mean value for all periods, with large values during the non-growing season and small values during the growing season, and it also showed diurnal variation with two maxima at 0600-1000 LST and 1800-2400 LST, and two minima at 0300-0600 LST and 1100-1500 LST, and was strongly correlated with the use of liquefied natural gas for cooking and heating by surrounding houses.

In the era of miniaturization,the one-dimensional nanostructures presented numerous possibilities to realize operational nanosensors and devices by tuning their electrical transport *** size reduction,the physical properties of materials become extremely challenging to characterize and understand due to the complex interplay among structures,surface properties,strain effects,distribution of grains,and their internal coupling *** this report,we demonstrate the fabrication of a single metal-carbon composite nanowire inside a diamondanvil-cell and examine the in situ pressure-driven electrical transport *** nanowire manifests a rapid and reversible pressure dependence of the strong nonlinear electrical conductivity with significant zero-bias differential conduction revealing a quantum tunneling dominant carrier transport *** fully rationalize our observations on the basis of a metal-carbon framework in a highly compressed nanowire corroborating a quantum-tunneling boundary,in addition to a classical percolation boundary that exists beyond the percolation *** structural phase progressions were monitored to evidence the pressure-induced shape reconstruction of the metallic grains and modification of their intergrain interactions for successful explanation of the electrical transport *** pronounced sensitivity of electrical conductivity to an external pressure stimulus provides a rationale to design low-dimensional advanced pressure sensing devices.

Femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy （FSRS）, using an overlapping pair of narrow band Raman pump and broadband probe pulses with heterodyne detection along the probe pulse direction, is a new nonlinear spectroscopic technique to record vibrational spectra of even highly fluorescent molecules and to study vibrational dynamics on excited electronic states of molecules, as in photoisomerization. FSRS is described by diagrammatic third-order perturbation theory with wave packet analysis. The phase matching condition gives rise to forty-eight terms for FSRS, but the resonant condition reduces it to just eight terms, which can be depicted by Feynman dual time-line diagrams, or closed time path loop diagrams, or the complementary four-wave mixing energy level diagrams. The eight terms fall into four sets-SRS（I）, SRS（Ⅱ）, IRS（I）, IRS（Ⅱ）-where SRS stands for stimulated Raman scattering and IRS stands for inverse Raman scattering. The SRS（I） set can also account for spontaneous Raman scattering, but the remaining SRS（Ⅱ）, IRS（I） and IRS（Ⅱ） terms are only present in stimulated scattering with the presence of a probe field. The SRS（I） set accounts for the Stokes Raman lines while the IRS（I） term accounts for the anti-Stokes lines, relative to the Raman pump frequency, in the FSRS spectrum. The remaining SRS（Ⅱ） and IRS（Ⅱ） terms give rise to broad baselines. Using a harmonic oscillator model, analytic results are obtained for the four-time correlation functions in the third-order polarizations. The issue of high time and high frequency resolution in time-resolved FSRS spectra is discussed. Calculations are made with the theory to compare with experimental results for：（a） resonance FSRS of fluorescent Rhodamine 6G and （b） 2D-FSRS from a coherent vibrational state that has been prepared by an impulsive, off-resonant pump pulse on CDCl3. The effects of microstructure of aluminum substrate on regular nanopore arrangement in anodic alumina layer were investigated. The dissimilar microstructure and texture on aluminum sheets were prepared by various cold rollings and heat treatments, and anodic alumina nanoporous layers were fabricated by two step anodizing method at 40 V in oxalic acid solution. For the aluminum sheets with similar surface texture and annealing condition except purity, the regularity of the nanopore arrangement on the anodic alumina layer increased with purity of aluminum substrate. The difference of surface texture on AI sheets is not critical parameter for formation of ordered nanopore array compared with purity and heat treatment of substrate aluminum. The investigation suggested that the purity and reasonable annealing temperature of aluminum substrate are very important process to obtain the highly-ordered nanopore array on anodic alumina layer.

BACKGROUND Adrenal myelolipoma is a rare,benign,non-functioning mass that occurs in the adrenal *** is composed of an admixture of hematopoietic elements and mature adipose tissue,similar to bone *** at large sizes,adrenal myelolipomas are usually asymptomatic and often incidentally found by ultrasonography or computed tomography(CT)*** paper describes an unusual case of adrenal myelolipoma presenting as flank *** SUMMARY A 50-year-old male with severe right flank pain underwent a CT scan revealing a huge mass extending into the suprarenal *** mass showed a fat component with retroperitoneal *** tumor was treated laparoscopically,and pathologic examination revealed features of myelolipoma originating from the adrenal *** Adrenal myelolipomas are generally asymptomatic and can be treated ***,rupture and hemorrhage of the tumor can cause symptoms requiring surgical removal.

With the growing demand for faster and more powerful computing,effective heat dissipation is essential to ensure the longevity,reliability,and high performance of electronic *** the field of modern electronic packaging materials,there is a great need for graphitic material-loaded polymeric composites(GPCs)with excellent thermal ***,the enhancement efficiency of GPCs is hindered by the agglomeration of fillers and the interfacial thermal resistance caused by the lack of continuous thermally conductive pathways between the filler and *** the interfaces between filler and matrix is of great importance in optimizing the performances of ***,we fabricated graphite nanofibers(GNF)-loaded nanocomposites using acid-functionalized GNF(AGNF)and acidtetraethylenepentamine-functionalized(TGNF)as a filler and epoxy resin as a matrix with different GNF loading contents to explore the interfacial properties of the *** optimal GNF loading for AGNF was 0.5 wt.%,while the TGNF showed 0.75 wt.%.The highest thermal conductivity(0.51 W m^(−1) K^(−1))and fracture toughness(25.8 MPa m^(1/2))values were found in the TGNF-loaded nanocomposites with a fraction of 0.75 wt.%,representing enhancements of∼145%and∼400%,respectively,compared to those of neat *** experimental data presented herein demonstrate that the interfacial properties play a significant role in enhancing the thermal and mechanical performances of the *** present approach is expected to serve as a valuable tool in the design of conductive polymeric nanocomposites for further practical applications,such as thermal interface materials and packaging of high-power electric devices.

Based on the time-dependent theory, an analysis of the distinction between resonance Raman (RR) and resonance fluorescence (RF) with pulse excitation was presented. The real population of the intermediate state gives two optical components-the independent time evolution of intermediate ket and bra states generates RR while RF originates from the phase coherent between ket and bra states. In cw limit, the transition probability of spontaneous emission with pulse excitation can be reduced to the classical theory.

Electroacupuncture on PC6 Prevents Opioid-Induced Nausea and Vomiting after Laparoscopic Surgery

Objective： To investigate the treatment time dependence of electroacupuncture （EA） on Neiguan （PC6） for preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting （PONV）. Methods： One hundred and seventy-eight patients, who had received intravenous patient-controlled analgesia （PCA） with Fentanyl, were assigned randomly to three groups using random numbers： a pre-operative EA group （PrEA）, a post-operative EA group （PoEA）, and a non-acupuncture control group （NC）. An anesthetist evaluated the incidence and severity of nausea and vomiting for 48 h after surgery blindly. The main outcomes were severity and freguency of PONV, which were measured with a self-reported questionnaire and a confirmation from the anesthetist. The data were analyzed with ANOVA and Z-test. Results： The incidence of nausea and vomiting was significantly lower in the PrEA group than the NC group during 48 h after surgery （P〈0.01, P〈0.05）. The incidence of vomiting was also significantly lower in the PrEA group than the PoEA group （P〈0.05）. The PoEA subjects evidenced no significant differences compared with the NC subjects in terms of the incidence of nausea and vomiting （P〈0.05）. The severity of nausea was significantly lower in the PrEA group than in the NC and PoEA groups （P〈0.05）. Conclusions： EA on PC6 is effective in the prevention of PONV, and pre-operative acupuncture is more effective than post-operative acupuncture.

Stud welding for fixation of cryogenic insulation of membrane tanks in LNG ship building

The support plates including all of the inner hulls such as E grade steel, weld seams and SUS304L were considered to establish the optimal stud welding condition in LNG ship building. The stainless steel plate was especially applied to the bracket on the liquid dome. The polished and etched surfaces of the welded stud and support plate were examined if the bead was properly formed. With the micrographic examination, the fusion boundary of metal weld zone formed by stud welding was analyzed to optimize the welding parameters. And also the analysis of the unacceptable welding faults such as cold and hot weld were performed. The mechanical tests such as tensile tests and bending tests were carried out to reveal any abnormal variation in the relationship of process parameters and the strength.
