Cardiovascular health awareness,risk perception,behavioural intention and INtERHEARt risk stratification among middle-aged adults in malaysia

Objective:to investigate the interrelationship between cardiovascular health awareness,risk perception,behavioural intention,and INtERHEARt risk stratification in a middle-aged adult population in ***:A cross-sectional survey with convenience sampling was conducted during November 2022 and January *** completed validated questionnaires assessing cardiovascular health awareness,risk perception of cardiovascular diseases,behavioural intention towards adopting healthy habits,and INtERHEARt risk stratification score(IHRS)based on established risk factors.A total of 602 respondents were included in the final *** were analysed with independent t-test/one-way ANOVA or mann-Whitney/Kruskal-Wallis to test the differences,Pearson correlation or linear regression test to analyze the association of independent and dependent ***:there was a significant positive correlation between medical knowledge related to cardiovascular disease(CVD)and knowledge related to CVD risk prevention,risk perception,behavioural intention and IHRS(Ption).Notably,individuals with higher IHRS tended to have lower knowledge related to CVD and CVD risk prevention,risk perception,and behavioural ***,laborers,active/former smokers,individuals with lower household income and educational levels,those involved in occupations not related to the healthcare sector,and those who did not receive the CVD health brochure or are unaware of health self-assessment tools are likely to have lower levels of knowledge,risk perception,and poorer behavioural intention regarding cardiovascular health(Ptional level,smoking status,awareness about CVD poster,self-assessment tools were repeatedly significantly associated with knowledge related to CVD and CVD risk prevention,risk perception,behavioral intention and/or IHRS(Pthese findings underscore the importance of promoting car

Aim: to provide a practical action plan for effective infection control of norovirus outbreak in acute paediatric wards. methods: We report the infection control measures that were implemented to terminate and to prevent nosocomial spread of norovirus gastroenteritis in an open- designed paediatric ward. Results: Nine children, one visitor, and one medical student were affected in a norovirus gastroenteritis outbreak in an acute paediatric ward. Vomiting was the main presenting symptom. the outbreak was rapidly terminated three days after implementation of stringent infection control measures and there was no second wave of attack. these measures included strict contact precautions, prompt isolation and cohorting of symptomatic patients, vigorous environmental cleansing with concentrated disinfectant (hypochlorite solution 1000 ppm), meticulous handling of waste products, and efficient contact tracing of exposed patients, family members, and medical students. Conclusion: Prompt implementation of stringent infection control measures and contact tracing can rapidly terminate the norovirus outbreak and prevent a second wave of infection. Children with unexplained vomiting and those with contact history of gastroenteritis should be properly triaged, isolated, and investigated for possible infective causes, including norovirus- induced gastroenteritis.

High black carbon and ozone concentrations during pollution transport in the Himalayas: Five years of continuous observations at NCO-P global GAW station

to study the influence of polluted air-mass transport carrying ozone （O3） and black carbon （BC） in the high Himalayas, since march 2006 the Nepal Climate Observatory at Pyramid （NCO-P） GAW-WmO global station （Nepal, 5079 m a.s.l.） is operative. During the first 5-year measurements, the O3 and BC concentrations have shown a mean value of 48 ± 12 ppb （± standard deviation） and 208 ± 374 ng/m3, respectively. Both O3 and BC showed well defined seasonal cycles with maxima during pre-monsoon （O3 ： 61.3 ± 7.7 ppbV; BC： 444 ± 433 ng/m3） and minima during the summer monsoon （O3 ： 40.1 ± 12.4 ppbV; BC： 64 ± 101 ng/m3）. the analysis of the days characterised by the presence of a significant BC increase with respect to the typical seasonal cycle identified 156 days affected by ＂acute＂ pollution events, corresponding to 9.1% of the entire data-set. Such events mostly occur in the pre-monsoon period, when the O3 diurnal variability is strongly related to the transport of polluted air-mass rich on BC. On average, these ＂acute＂ pollution events were characterised by dramatic increases of BC （352%） and O3 （29%） levels compared with the remaining days.

Detection of the Severity of Brain Injury in Head trauma Patients Using Biochemical Blood markers and Its Correlation with Glasgow Coma Scale

Head trauma is one of common injury related mortality and morbidity. Blood biomarkers are valuable tools for the identification and characterization of initial injury and secondary pathological processes for traumatic brain injury (tBI). this study evaluated the performance of a recently developed visfatin and its correlation with other blood circulating biomarkers that reflect specific pathological mechanisms including neuro inflammatory, neuron injury and oxidative damage in moderate to severe tBI patients. Peripheral blood was taken from tBI patients (n = 78) at hospital admission, maximum 6 hours post-injury. Severity and neurological outcome were assessed using the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and blood level of: visfatin, neuron specific enolase (NSE), malondialdehyde (mDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH). Concentrations of visfatin (28 ± 1.68 μg/L, 25 ± 2.09 μg/L) was significantly higher (p moderate groups of tBI patients respectively compared to control group (7.62 ± 0.87 μg/L), NSE concentrations also were significantly higher (p th groups of tBI patients (20.47 ± 3 ng/ml, 13.49 ± 2.66 ng/ml) compared to control group (4.3 ± 0.52 ng/ml), mDA was significantly elevated (p tBI patients group (6.88 ± 0.58 μmol/L) compared to control group (5.12 ± 0.76 μmol/L), while SOD (245.12 ± 24.2 U/L, 276.097 ± 30.8 U/L) and GSH (112.07 ± 2.09 μmol/L, 119.26 ± 2.7 μmol/L) were highly significantly decreased (p tBI patients compared to control group (304.17 ± 27.17 U/L and 151.64 ± 9.9 μmol/L) respectively. Visfatin was positively correlated with NSE and mDA, while there was negative correlation with SOD and GSH. In conclusion blood level of visfatin in correlation with other blood biomarkers can be used for prediction of severity of tBI cases.

AIm:to provide a comprehensive and more representative national data on the disease,especially on treatment options and outcomes,and to determine access of retinoblastoma patients from Luzon,Visayas and mindanao to eye care,and determine if access is associated with delay in consultation,staging and ***:Cohort study of retinoblastoma patients seen in eleven institutions located in the three major areas of the Philippines namely Luzon,Vizayas and mindanao from ***:totally 636 patients,involving 821 eyes,were ***(57%)were from Luzon and were seen in institutions in Luzon(72%).Annually,58±10 new cases were seen with 71%having unilateral *** delay of consultation remained long at 9(3,17)mo,longest in patients with unilateral disease(Pthose from the Visayas(Pthe International Retinoblastoma Staging System,only 35%of patients had Stage 1 while 47%already had extraocular *** was the most common treatment received by 484 patients while intravenous chemotherapy was received by *** were 250(39%)patients alive,195(31%)dead,85(13%)abandoned,17(3%)refused and 89(14%)with no ***:this study presents the largest cohort of retinoblastoma patients in the Philippines in terms of patients’and participating institutions’number and geographical location and type of institution(private and public).It also presents more comprehensive data on the treatments used and outcomes(survival,globe salvage,and vision retention rates).Delay in consultation was still long among patients leading to advanced disease stage and lower survival *** increasing capacity to diagnose and manage retinoblastoma in the country,the delay of consultation remains long primarily due to accessibility issues to eye care institutions especially in the Visayas and financial *** delay was still significant that overall survival rate remain low.

thin-wall structures of ti-6A1-4V were fabricated by low-power pulsed laser directed energy deposition. During deposition, consistent with prior reports, columnar grains were observed which grew from the bottom toward the top of melt pool tail. this resulted in a microstructure mainly composed of long and thin prior epitaxial β columnar grains (average width ^200μm). A periodic pattern in epitaxial growth of grains was observed, which was shown to depend upon laser traverse direction. Utilizing this, a novel means was proposed to determine accurately the fusion boundary of each deposited layer by inspection of the periodic wave patterns. As a result it was applied to investigate the influence of thermal cycling on microstructure evolution. Results showed that acicular martensite,α' phase, and a small amount of Widmanstatten, a laths, gradually converted to elongated acicular a and a large fraction of Widmanstatten a laths under layer-wise thermal cycling. tensile tests showed that the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and elongation of ti-6Al-4V thin wall in the build direction were 9.1 %, 17.3% and 42% higher respectively than those typically observed in forged solids of the same alloy. It also showed the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the transverse tensile samples both were 13.3% higher than those from the build direction due to the strengthening effect of a large number of vertical β grain boundaries, but the elongation was 69.7% lower than that of the build direction due to the uneven grain deformation of β grains.

Radiological features of traumatic vertebral endplate fracture:an analysis of 194 cases with 263 vertebral fractures

Background:the importance of identifying osteoporotic vertebral endplate or/and cortex fracture(ECF),which primarily includes endplate fracture(EPF)and vertebral anterior cortex buckling,has been ***,some old traumatic ECFs with healing process in the elderly may be mistaken as *** study analyzes the radiological features of traumatic ***:this was a retrospective analysis of 194 spine trauma patients with 263 vertebral fractures(mean age:42.11±9.82 years,118 males and 76 females).All patients had traumatic EPF identified by X-ray/Ct/***:the involved vertebra was mostly L1(29.7%),followed by t12 and *** EPFs involved both superior and inferior endplates(12.6%),only 1.9%involved inferior endplate alone,with the majority involved superior *** each endplate was divided into five segments of equal lengths(from anterior to posterior:a1,a2,m,p2,p1),the most depressed point of superior EPFs was mostly at segment-a2(approximately 45%),followed by segment-a1(approximately 20%)or segment-m(approximately 20%),and very rarely at *** upper 1/3 of anterior vertebral wall was more likely to fracture,followed by middle 1/3 of anterior *** posterior vertebral wall fracture,68.5%broke the bony wall surrounding the basivertebral vain.58.6%,30.0%,and 11.4%of vertebral fractures had1/3 vertebral body height *** the extent of vertebral height loss increased,the chance of having both superior and inferior EPFs also increased;however,the chance of having inferior EPF alone did not ***:traumatic EPF features are characterized,which may help the differentiation of traumatic and osteoporotic EPFs.
