Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells derivedexosomes on VEGF-A in hypoxic-induced mice retinal astrocytes and mice model of retinopathy of prematurity

Cationic engineered nanodiamonds for efficient antibacterial surface with strong wear resistance

The spread of diseases caused by bacterial adhesion and immobilization in public places constitutes a serious threat to public *** of bacteria spread by the construction of an antibacterial surface takes precedence over post-infection ***,we demonstrate an effective antibacterial surface with strong wear resistance by constructing cationic engineered nanodiamonds(C-NDs).The C-NDs with positive surface potentials interact effectively with bacteria through electrostatic interactions,where the C-NDs act on the phospholipid bilayer and lead to bacterial membrane collapse and rupture through hydrogen bonding and residual surface oxygen-containing reactive *** this case,bactericidal rate of 99.99%and bacterial biofilm inhibition rate of more than 80%can be achieved with the C-NDs concentration of 1 mg/*** addition,the C-NDs show outstanding antibacterial stability,retaining over 87%of the antibacterial effect after stimulation by adverse environments of heat,acid,and external ***,an antibacterial surface with high wear resistance obtained by integrating C-NDs with commercial plastics has been *** antibacterial surface with a mass fraction of 1 wt.%C-NDs improved abrasion resistance by 3981 times,with 99%killing of adherent *** work provides an effective strategy for highly efficient antibacterial wear-resistant surface,showing great practical applications in public health environments.

Abnormal Systemic and Ocular Responses to the Valsalva Manoeuvre in Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma:A Case for Autonomic Failure?

Objective This study aimed to examine the association of primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG)with autonomic dysfunction by assessing the differences in systemic and ocular responses to an autonomic provocation test,the Valsalva manoeuvre(VM),between POAG patients and normal *** Forty POAG and forty control subjects were subjected to the *** and ocular parameters were measured at baseline,phase 2,and phase 4 of the VM(VM2 and VM4),where VM2 and VM4 are sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous activation states,*** rate variability was used to assess the autonomic nervous activity,among which the high-frequency component(HF)and the low-frequency(LF)/HF ratio were used as indices of parasympathetic and sympathetic activation,*** POAG patients demonstrated higher sympathetic activation(LF/HF ratio median:2.17 vs.1.53,P=0.000)than controls at baseline and exhibited attenuated sympathetic and parasympathetic responses(a smaller change in LF/HF and HF values)during the VM than *** VM,the intraocular pressure(IOP),mean blood pressure(MAP),mean ocular perfusion pressure(MOPP),and the Schlemm’s canal area(SCAR)increased from baseline to VM2 and then decreased from VM2 to VM4 in both the POAG and control groups(all Pbove,the fluctuations in IOP,MAP,and MOPP were more pronounced in POAG than in controls(all P<0.05),while the changes in amplitudes of SCAR were smaller in POAG(P<0.05).Furthermore,from VM2 to VM4,the choroid thickness(ChT)in the POAG group was significantly decreased,while it was unchanged in normal subjects(P=0.258).A regression analysis showed a significant correlation of the baseline LF/HF with IOP change values(ΔIOP)from baseline to VM2 in POAG(R^(2)=0.147,P=0.014).Conclusion Patients with POAG showed more pronounced fluctuations in IOP,MAP,MOPP and ChT during the VM than *** reactions could be associated with autonomic dysfunction in POAG.

Tumor hypoxia severely limits the therapeutic efficacy of photodynamic therapy(PDT) for solid tumors,which is highly dependent on tissue oxygen *** this study,we developed a platinum(Ⅱ)-acetylide-based metallacycle compound bearing six 1,4-dimethylnaphthalenes(DMN) groups,and controlled the photodynamic and photothermal effects of the compound by adjusting the power of 730 nm laser to achieve reversible sensitization,storage and release of 1~O_(2) within a single *** compound formed nanoparticles by self-assembly and exhibited good water solubility and *** laser irradiation,the strong spin-orbit coupling of platinum atoms in the metallacycle facilitated 1~O_(2) *** produced 1~O_(2) was captured by the DMN carriers and transported into the hypoxic tumor,where 1~O_(2) release was triggered owing to the good photothermal effect of the extended conjugation of the *** therapy,the metallacycle serving as a photosensitizer,1~O_(2) carrier,and photothermal reagent,achieved the synergistic therapy of PDT/PTT,demonstrating the versatility of the *** study proposes a new strategy to develop phototherapy agents that are suitable for hypoxic tumors.

BACKGROUND HeartModel(HM)is a fully automated adaptive quantification software that can quickly quantify left heart volume and left ventricular *** study used HM to quantify the left ventricular end-diastolic(LVEDV)and end-systolic volumes(LVESV)of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM),coronary artery heart disease with segmental wall motion abnormality,and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM)to determine whether there were differences in the feasibility,accuracy,and repeatability of measuring the LVEDV,LVESV,LV ejection fraction(LVEF)and left atrial end-systolic volume(LAESV)and to compare these measurements with those obtained with traditional twodimensional(2D)and three-dimensional(3D)*** To evaluate the application value of HM in quantifying left heart chamber volume and LVEF in clinical *** A total of 150 subjects who underwent 2D and 3D echocardiography were divided into 4 groups:(1)42 patients with normal heart shape and function(control group,Group A);(2)35 patients with DCM(Group B);(3)41 patients with LV remodeling after acute myocardial infarction(Group C);and(4)32 patients with HCM(Group D).The LVEDV,LVESV,LVEF and LAESV obtained by HM with(HM-RE)and without regional endocardial border editing(HM-NE)were compared with those measured by traditional 2D/3D echocardiographic methods to assess the correlation,consistency,and repeatability of all ***(1)The parameters measured by HM were significantly different among the groups(P<0.05 for all).Compared with Groups A,C,and D,Group B had higher LVEDV and LVESV(P<0.05 for all)and lower LVEF(P<0.05 for all);(2)HM-NE overestimated LVEDV,LVESV,and LAESV with wide biases and underestimated LVEF with a small bias;contour adjustment reduced the biases and limits of agreement(bias:LVEDV,28.17 mL,LVESV,14.92 mL,LAESV,8.18 mL,LVEF,-0.04%).The correlations between HM-RE and advanced cardiac 3D quantification(3DQA)(r_(s)=0.91-0.95,P<0.05 for all)were higher than those between HM-NE(

In relation to the Shifu Road Station project on Line 4 of the Shenyang Metro in China,a small-pipe roof-beam method for constructing subway stations is ***,a numerical simulation was performed to optimize the supporting parameters of the proposed method and determine the design ***,the deformation of the pipe roof and surface settlement during the construction process were ***,the surface settlement attributed to the excavation was studied through field monitoring,and the proposed method was compared with other *** results show that an increase in the pipe-roof spacing has little effect on the surface settlement and piperoof *** bearing capacity of the pipe roof can be efficiently utilized once the flexural stiffness reaches 2EI,and the flexural stiffness is not the dominant factor controlling the *** essential stages in controlling surface settlement are the excavations of the transverse pilot tunnels and the soil between *** final settlement value of the ground was 24.1 mm,resulting in a reduction in the construction period by at least five months while satisfying the control requirements.

Nitro-oleic acid ameliorates erectile dysfunction in a streptozotocin-induced rat model of diabetes by inhibiting oxidative stress and apoptosis and activating the NO/cGMP pathway

The major vascular complications associated with diabetes make the management of diabetic mellitus erectile dysfunction(DMED)a challenging *** factors contributing to DMED include oxidative stress,nitric oxide(NO)/cyclic guanosine monophosphate(cGMP)pathway activation,and apoptosis,while nitro-oleic acid(NO,-OA)has been shown to be beneficial in treating these aspects of this ***,herein,investigated the effects and possible mechanisms of NO,-OA on erectile function as assessed in a streptozotocin-induced rat model of *** results revealed that the erectile function of DMED rats was significantly impaired compared with that of the control ***,in response to 4 weeks of NO,-OA treatment,there was an improvement in erectile *** expression of oxidative stress-related indicators was significantly increased and the NO/cGMP pathway was impaired in the DMED *** expression of proapoptotic factors was increased,while that of antiapoptotic factors was decreased in the DMED ***,the cell morphology in the cavernous tissue of the DMED group also changed ***,-OA treatment significantly reversed all these changes observed in the DMED *** conclusion,NO,-OA treatment partially improved erectile function in DMED rats through mechanisms that included inhibition of oxidative stress,activation of the NO/cGMP pathway,and a reduction in apoptosis.

Black hole evaporation and its remnants with the generalized uncertainty principle including a linear term

In recent years,researchers have investigated the evaporation of Schwarzschild black holes using various forms of the generalized uncertainty principle(GUP),metric quantum correction,and noncommutative geometry,***,there are differences between the GUP correction and the other two methods in terms of describing the later stages of black hole ***,some studies argue that the GUP with a negative parameter cannot effectively correct black hole evaporation,while others contend that the positivity or negativity of the GUP parameters should not affect the correction *** the above into consideration,we reconsider black hole evaporation with the generalized uncertainty principle including a linear term(LGUP),and examine the case of negative *** results indicate that the evaporation behavior of both Schwarzschild black holes and Reissner–Nordstr?m black holes,under LGUP correction,is consistent with the results of metric quantum correction and non-commutative ***,the negative parameter LGUP can also effectively correct for black hole evaporation.

Phosphorescent carbon nanodots(CNDs)have generated enormous interest recently,and the CND phosphorescence is usually located in the visible region,while ultraviolet(UV)phosphorescent CNDs have not been reported thus ***,the UV phosphorescence of CNDs was achieved by decreasing conjugation size and in-situ spatial confinement in a NaCNO *** electron transition from the P_(x) to the sp^(2) orbit of the N atoms within the CNDs can generate one-unit orbital angular momentum,providing a driving force for the triplet excitons population of the *** confinement caused by the NaCNO crystal reduces the energy dissipation paths of the generated triplet *** further tailoring the size of the CNDs,the phosphorescence wavelength can be tuned to 348 nm,and the room temperature lifetime of the CNDs can reach 15.8 *** a demonstration,the UV phosphorescent CNDs were used for inactivating gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria through the emission of their high-energy photons over a long duration,and the resulting antibacterial efficiency reached over 99.9%.This work provides a rational design strategy for UV phosphorescent CNDs and demonstrates their novel antibacterial applications.
