Clinical efficacy of Baijin pills in the treatment of generalized tonicclonic seizure epilepsy with cognitive impairment

BACKGROUND The generalized tonic-clonic seizure(GTCS)is the most usual variety of epileptic *** is mainly characterized by strong body muscle rigidity,loss of consciousness,a disorder of plant neurofunction,and significant damage to cognitive *** effect of antiepileptic drugs on cognition should also be *** present,there is no effective treatment for patients with epilepsy,but traditional Chinese medicine has shown a significant effect on chronic disease with fewer harmful side effects and should,therefore,be considered for the therapy means of epilepsy with cognitive *** To investigate the clinical efficacy of Baijin pills for treating GTCS patients with cognitive *** This prospective study enrolled patients diagnosed with GTCS between January 2.2. and December 2.2. and separate them into two groups(experimental and control)using random number table *** control group was treated with sodium valproate,and the experimental group was Baijin pills and sodium valproate for three *** frequency and duration of each seizure,the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MoCA),and the Quality of Life Rating Scale(QOLIE-31)were recorded before and after *** There were 85 patients included(42.in the control group and 43 in the experimental group).After treatment,the seizure frequency in the experimental group was significantly reduced(P<0.05),and seizure duration was shortened(P<0.01).The total MoCA score in the experimental group significantly increased compared to before treatment(P<0.01),and the sub-item scores,except naming and abstract generalization ability,significantly increased(P<0.05),whereas the total MoCA score in the control group significantly decreased after treatment(P<0.05).The QOLIE-31 score of the experimental group increased significantly after treatment compared to before treatment(P<0.01).CONCLUSION Baijin pills have a good clinical effect on epilepsy with cognitive dysfunction.

Mechanical and damping performances of TPMS lattice metamaterials fabricated by laser powder bed fusion

Lattice metamaterials based on three-period minimum surface(TPMS)are an effective means to achieve lightweight and high-strength materials which are widely used in various fields such as aerospace and ***,its vibration and noise reduction,and damping properties have not been fully ***,in this study,the TPMS structures with parameterization were designed by the method of surface migration,and the TPMS structures with high forming quality was manufactured by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).The mechanical properties and energy absorption characteristics of the beam and TPMS structures were studied and compared by quasi-static *** modal shapes of the beam lattice structures and TPMS structures were obtained by the free modal analysis,and the damping properties of two structures were obtained by modal *** the two structures after heat treatment with the same porosity of 70%,the yield strength of the beam lattice structure reaches 40.76 MPa,elastic modulus is 2..38 GPa,the energy absorption value is 32.2. MJ·m^(-3),the damping ratio is 0.52..The yield strength,elastic modulus,energy absorption value,and damping ratio of the TPMS structure are 50.74 MPa,2..37 GPa,47.34 MJ·m^(-3),and 0.99%,*** results show that TPMS structures exhibit more excellent mechanical properties and energy absorption,better damping performance,and obvious advantages in structural load and vibration and noise reduction compared with the beam lattice structures under the same porosity.

Programmable repulsive potential for tight-binding from ChenM?bius inversion theorem

An accurate total energy calculation is essential in materials computation. To date, many tight-binding(TB) approaches based on parameterized hopping can produce electronic structures comparable to those obtained using first-principles ***, TB approaches still have limited applicability for determining material properties derived from the total energy. That is, the predictive power of the TB total energy is impaired by an inaccurate evaluation of the repulsive energy. The complexity associated with the parametrization of TB repulsive potentials is the weak link in this evaluation. In this study, we propose a new method for obtaining the pairwise TB repulsive potential for crystalline materials by employing the Chen-M?bius inversion theorem. We show that the TB-based phonon dispersions, calculated using the resulting repulsive potential, compare well with those obtained by first-principles calculations for various systems, including covalent and ionic bulk materials and twodimensional materials. The present approach only requires the first-principles total energy and TB electronic band energy as input and does not involve any parameters. This striking feature enables us to generate repulsive potentials programmatically.

Filling the gaps in icosahedral superatomic metal clusters

Chemically modified superatoms have emerged as promising candidates in the new periodic table, in which Au13and its doped M_nAu13-nhave been widely studied. However, their important counterpart, Ag13artificial element, has not yet been synthesized. In this work, we report the synthesis of Ag13nanoclusters using strong chelating ability and rigid ligands, that fills the gaps in the icosahedral superatomic metal clusters. After further doping Ag13template with different degrees of Au atoms, we gained insight into the evolution of their optical properties. Theoretical calculations show that the kernel metal doping can modulate the transition of the excited-state electronic structure, and the electron transfer process changes from local excitation（LE） to charge transfer（CT） to LE. This study not only enriches the families of artificial superatoms, but also contributes to the understanding of the electronic states of superatomic clusters.

Most animal-pollinated flowers offer nectar or pollen as a reward to their pollinators. A small fraction, however, have switched to other rewards, such as fatty oils offered in glandular hairs or just below the epidermis. This type of reward has evolved in some 150 genera in at least 11 families, including South American and African Orchidaceae [1,2.. Oiloffering flowers are exploited by a few hundred species of oil-collecting bees in temperate and tropical biomes on all continents except Antarctica [1,2.. Oil bees depend obligatorily on floral oil for cell lining and as larval food [3,4], which is why oil collecting usually is confined to female bees.
