Ultrathin curved PdNiRu nanosheets as bifunctional catalysts for oxygen reduction and ethylene glycol oxidation

Pd-based metallic nanosheets with advanced physicochemical properties have been widely prepared and employed in various electrocatalytic ***,few concerns were focused on their multiple performances in different ***,highly curved and ultrathin PdNiRu nanosheets(NSs)are developed by facile wet-chemistry strategy and exhibit excellent electrocatalytic performance toward both oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and ethylene glycol oxidation reaction(EGOR).Owing to the synergistically structural(e.g.,ultrathin,curved,defects/steps-rich)and compositional(ternary alloy)advantages,PdNiRu NSs exhibited enhanced ORR and EGOR specific/mass activities and better stability/durability than control *** specific activity(5.52 mA·cm^(−2))and mass activity(1.13 A·mg_(Pd)^(−1))of the PdNiRu NSs in ORR are 4.8 and 3.4 times as the ones of commercial Pt/C,*** mass activity of PdNiRu NSs(3.86 A·mg_(Pd)^(−1))in EGOR is 2.6 times as commercial Pd/C(1.51 A·mg_(Pd)^(−1)).This study is helpful for the development of desired electrocatalysts with multi-functional application in practical fuel cells.

Layered Potassium Titanium Niobate/Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanocomposite as a Potassium‑Ion Battery Anode

With graphite currently leading as the most viable anode for potassium-ion batteries(KIBs),other materials have been left relatively *** metal oxides are among these,with many positive attributes such as synthetic maturity,longterm cycling stability and fast redox ***,to address this research deficiency we report herein a layered potassium titanium niobate KTiNbo5(KTNO)and its rGO nanocomposite(KTNO/rGO)synthesised via solvothermal methods as a high-performance anode for *** effective distribution across the electrically conductive rGO,the electrochemical performance of the KTNO nanoparticles was *** potassium storage performance of the KTNO/rGO was demonstrated by its first charge capacity of 128.1 mAh g^(−1) and reversible capacity of 97.5 mAh g^(−1) after 500 cycles at 20 mA g^(−1),retaining 76.1%of the initial capacity,with an exceptional rate performance of 54.2 mAh g^(−1)at 1 A g^(−1).Furthermore,to investigate the attributes of KTNO in-situ XRD was performed,indicating a low-strain ***-situ X-ray photoelectron spectra further investigated the mechanism of charge storage,with the titanium showing greater redox reversibility than the *** work suggests this lowstrain nature is a highly advantageous property and well worth regarding KTNO as a promising anode for future high-performance KIBs.

Effect of Y,Al Co‑Doping on Hydrogen Storage Properties of La–Mg–Ni‑Based Alloys

La–Mg–Ni-based hydrogen storage alloys have excellent hydrogen storage *** work reports the hydrogen storage performance of a series of A_(2)B_(7)-type La_(0.96)Mg_(0.04)N_(i3.34)Al_(0.13)alloy and La_(0.96-x)Y_(x)Mg_(0.04)Ni_(3.47–0.6x)Al_(0.6x)(x=0,0.22,0.33,0.44)alloys,and explores the effect of Y and Al element combined substitution on the microstructure and hydrogen storage performance of A_(2)B_(7)-type La–Mg–Ni-based *** alloys are composed of Ce_(2)Ni_(7)phase and LaNi_(5)*** the increase of x,the cell volume of Ce_(2)Ni_(7)phase decreases,while that of LaNi_(5)phase increases,indicating that Y atom mainly enters Ce_(2)Ni_(7)phase and Al atom mainly enters LaNi_(5)*** appropriate amount of co-substitution increases the hydrogen storage capacity and reduces the hydrogen absorption/desorption plateau pressure hysteresis of the *** x=0.44,the hydrogen storage capacity of the alloy is 1.449 wt%,and the hysteresis coefficient is *** cell volume of Ce_(2)Ni_(7)phase and LaNi_(5)phase expands to different degrees after 20 absorption/desorption *** the increase of x,the volume expansion rate decreases,and the cycle capacity retention rate also gradually *** is related to the amorphization of Ce_(2)Ni_(7)*** x=0.22,the capacity retention rate of the alloy is 91.4%.

Exploring charge and spin fluctuations in infinite-layer cuprate SrCuO_(2)from a phonon perspective

The infinite-layer cuprate ACu O_(2)(A=Ca,Sr,Ba)possesses the simplest crystal structure among numerous cuprate superconductors and can serve as a prototypical system to explore the unconventional *** on the first-principles electronic structure calculations,we have studied the electronic and magnetic properties of the infinite-layer cuprate SrCuO_(2)from a phonon *** find that interesting fluctuations of charges,electrical dipoles,and local magnetic moments can be induced by the atomic displacements of phonon modes in SrCuO_(2)upon the hole *** all optical phonon modes of SrCuO_(2)in the antiferromagnetic Néel state,only the A_(1g)mode that involves the full-breathing O vibrations along the Cu-O bonds can cause significant fluctuations of local magnetic moments on O atoms and dramatic charge redistributions between Cu and O ***,due to the atomic displacements of the A_(1g)mode,both the charge fluctuations on Cu and the electrical dipoles on O show a dome-like evolution with increasing hole doping,quite similar to the experimentally observed behavior of the superconducting T_(c);in comparison,the fluctuations of local magnetic moments on O display a monotonic enhancement along with the hole *** analyses indicate that around the optimal doping,there exists a large softening in the frequency of the A_(1g)phonon mode and a van Hove singularity in the electronic structure close to the Fermi level,suggesting potential electron-phonon *** work reveals the important role of the full-breathing O phonon mode playing in the infinite-layer SrCuO_(2),which may provide new insights in understanding the cuprate superconductivity.

The synthesis of mesoporous zeolite-anchored atomically dispersed metal catalysts(ADCs)is a considerable challenge in chemistry and materials *** we report the synthesis of atomically dispersed cationic nickel-confined mesoporous ZSM-48(ANMZ-48)by in situ hydrothermal reaction employing a designed tri-functional metal complex template,by which the triquaternary ammonium groups in the hydrophilic region direct the formation of ZSM-48 zeolite;the aromatic groups in the hydrophobic tail generate the mesopores through π-π stacking;and the complexes formed by nickel ions coordinated with terpyridyl groups generate atomically dispersed Ni2+confined in zeolite frameworks due to the strong sintering resistance generated by the strong coordination *** ANMZ-48 is consisting of stacking of sheet-like ZSM-48 domains connected by multiply crystal twinning sharing the common(011)plane,generating abundant of imbedded mesopores with the uniform thickness of~2.4 nm and with the width of 10-50 *** excellent catalytic activity and stability of ANMZ-48 were also reflected in the dry reforming of methane(DRM)reaction.

Early-stage latent thermal failure of single-crystal Ni-rich layered cathode

High nickel content worsens the thermal stability of layered cathodes for lithium-ion batteries,raising safety concerns for their *** understanding the thermal failure process can offer valuable guidance for material optimization on thermal stability and new opportunities in monitoring battery thermal runaway(TR).Herein,this work comprehensively investigates the thermal failure process of a single-crystal nickel-rich layered cathode and finds that the latent thermal failure starts at∼120℃far below the TR temperature(225℃).During this stage of heat accumulation,sequential structure transition is revealed by atomic resolution electron microscopy,which follows the layered→cation mixing layered→LiMn_(2)O_(4)-type spinel→disordered spinel→rock *** progression occurs as a result of the continuous migration and densification of transition metal *** transition generates gaseous oxygen,initially confined within the isolated closed pores,thereby not showing any thermal failure phenomena at the *** temperature leads to pore growth and coalescence,and eventually to the formation of open pores,causing oxygen gas release and weight loss,which are the typical TR *** highlight that latent thermal instability occurs before the macro-level TR,suggesting that suppressing phase transitions caused by early thermal instability is a crucial direction for material *** findings can also be used for early warning of battery thermal runaway.

Differences in leaf cuticular wax induced by whole-genome duplication in autotetraploid sour jujube

Drought-resistant plants exhibit strong water retention *** this regard,the autotetraploid sour jujube leaves exhibit better water retention than diploid *** comparisons and physiological comparisons of diploid and autotetraploid leaves showed that the autotetraploid leaves had thicker leaf cuticles and more leaf wax accumulation than the diploid leaves,which could reduce cuticle permeability and improve the drought tolerance of *** this study,the cuticular wax crystalloids on the adaxial and abaxial sides of young and mature jujube leaves were observed in the two ploidy types,and unique cuticular wax crystalloids covering a large area of the cuticle on autotetraploid sour jujube leaves may provide an advantage in reducing leaf non-stomata transpiration and improving plant drought *** on the transcriptome,115 differentially expressed genes between diploids and autotetraploids were further analyzed and found to be involved in the accumulation of cuticular wax components,including terpenoids,fatty acids,and lipids,as well as ABC transporter and wax biosynthetic ***,14 genes differentially expressed between glossy autotetraploid leaves and nonglossy diploid leaves,such as LOC107414787,LOC107411574 and LOC107413721,were screened as candidate genes by qRT-PCR *** findings provided insights into how polyploidization improved drought tolerance.

Layer Hall effect induced by hidden Berry curvature in antiferromagnetic insulators

The layer Hall effect describes electrons spontaneously deflected to opposite sides at different layers, which has been experimentally reported in the MnBi2Te4thin films under perpendicular electric fields. Here, we reveal a universal origin of the layer Hall effect in terms of the so-called hidden Berry curvature, as well as material design principles. Hence, it gives rise to zero Berry curvature in momentum space but non-zero layer-locked hidden Berry curvature in real space. We show that, compared to that of a trivial insulator, the layer Hall effect is significantly enhanced in antiferromagnetic topological insulators. Our universal picture provides a paradigm for revealing the hidden physics as a result of the interplay between the global and local symmetries, and can be generalized in various scenarios.

Grid-based recommendation algorithms view users and items as abstract nodes,and the information utilised by the algorithm is hidden in the selection relationships between users and *** these relationships can be easily handled,much useful information is overlooked,resulting in a less accurate recommendation *** aim of this paper is to propose improvements on the standard substance diffusion algorithm,taking into account the influence of the user’s rating on the recommended item,adding a moderating factor,and optimising the initial resource allocation vector and resource transfer matrix in the recommendation *** average ranking score evaluation index is introduced to quantify user satisfaction with the recommendation *** are conducted on the MovieLens training dataset,and the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms classical collaborative filtering systems and network structure based recommendation systems in terms of recommendation accuracy and hit rate.
