Glacial lake outburst floods(GLOFs)represent one of the most serious hazard and risk in deglaciating high mountain regions worldwide and the need for GLOF hazard and risk assessment is *** a consequence,numerous region-and nation-wide GLOF assessment studies have been published *** studies cover large areas and consider hundreds to thousands of lakes,prioritizing the hazard posed by ***,certain simplification is required for executing such studies,often resulting in neglecting qualitative characteristics which would need manual *** lake dam types(e.g.,bedrock-dammed,moraine-dammed)are often not distinguished,despite they control GLOF mechanism(dam overtopping/dam breach)and thus GLOF *** this study,we explore the potential of easily measurable quantitative characteristics and four ratios to approximate the lake dam *** dataset of 851 lakes of the Cordillera blanca suggests that while variances and means of these characteristics of individual lake types differ significantly(F-test,t-test),value distribution of different geometrical properties can’t be used for the originally proposed purpose along the *** only promising results are obtained for extreme values(selected bins)of the *** instance,the low width to length ratio indicates likely morainedammed lake while the high value of ratio indicating round-shape of the lake indicates increased likelihood of bedrock-dammed ***,we report a negative result of our experiment since there are negligible differences of relative frequencies in most of the bins along the spectra.

Real-time interventional MRI（I-MRI）would be very helpful to track the position of the surgical device during MR-guided *** would improve the patient ***,in deep brain stimulation（DBS）,the visualization of the surgical procedure in real-time using I-MRI could improve the accuracy of the electrode ***,the reconstruction of interventional images using high undersampling rate and fast reconstruction speed for real-time imaging pose a great *** proposed a feature-based convolutional neural network（FbCNN）for reconstructing for reconstructing interventional images from golden-angle radially sampled data,based on recent advances in deep learning（DL）.The reconstruction is composed of two steps: 1)reconstruction of the interventional feature;2)feature refinement and *** showed that the interventional feature can be reconstructed with a cascade CNN,using an undersampling of only 5 radially sampled *** obtained a final interventional image from a refined feature and a fully sampled reference *** was compared with traditional reconstruction techniques and recent DL-based method,and it was shown that only FbCNN could reconstruct the interventional feature and the final interventional ***,FbCNN demonstrated that had the potential in real-time I-MRI applications with a reconstruction time of ～500ms per frame and an acceleration factor of ～80.

In educational environments an improvement in the quality of interior lighting has a direct benefit in increasing productivity and alertness of students and teachers, as well as very important implications for the energy efficiency of the education facilities but when a replacement with different lighting is analyzed, research may be tarnished by users’ pre-formed opinions, influenced by manufacturers and advertising. Consequently, it is necessary to understand the users’ point of view, even before of being subjected to any change in the lighting *** on the Kansei Engineering framework, the general objective of this paper is to evaluate and compare the subjective evaluation of students’ pre-formed opinions to lighting provided by two types of lamps (fluorescent and LED). The subjective assessment of 427 university students has been compared over four years. The results show significant differences in students’ subjective evaluation. This finding highlights the existence of symbolic or functional attributes of the usefulness perceived by the student that could influence on investigations in which different types of lighting are compared.

Abiotic stresses such as drought, cold, and high salinity are among the most adverse factors that affect plant growth and yield in the field. MicroRNAs are small RNA molecules that regulate gene expression in a sequence-specific manner and play an important role in plant stress response. Identifying abiotic stress-associated microRNAs and understanding their function will help develop new strategies for improvement of plant stress tolerance. Here we highlight recent advances in our understanding of abiotic stress-associated miRNAs in various plants, with focus on their discovery, expression analysis, and evolution.

Aim: To develop an HPLC method to quantify midazolam in a new oral formulation for pediatric use. Methods: The stability of the new formulation was evaluated at different storage conditions and a preliminary assay of relative bioavailability was carried out in healthy volunteers. Results: The method of quantification was linear in the range of 5 to 60 μg·mL-1. The midazolam amount in the formulation remained stable for 90 days at 4 and 40℃ (in the dark) while at 25℃ was stable only for 14 days (exposed to light). Discussion: The relative bioavailability assay suggests that our preparation of midazolam in white chocolate reaches plasma levels similar to those induced by the apple juice formulation. Conclusion: This new white chocolate formulation masks the unpleasing flavour and has a more attractive presentation to the paediatric patient, which may be useful for children sedation and to ease its management by health carers.

AIM:To evaluate the effect of lid scrubbing using a gel combining different natural extracts on ocular signs and symptoms of dry eye ***:A retrospective study was performed on 19 dry eye patients(51.1±16.0y).Non-invasive tear break-up time,tear meniscus height,meibomian gland loss,lipid layer thickness,conjunctival redness,corneal staining,ocular surface disease index(OSDI),and ocular pain intensity were measured before(baseline),1wk,and 2mo after lid scrubbing with a gel containing different natural extracts(okra extract,aloe vera leaf juice,hydrolysed soy protein,caffeine,citrus unshiu peel extract,and raspberry seed oil).RESULTS:Compared with the baseline,there was a statistically significant improvement in both first(P=0.048)and average(P=0.026)non-invasive tear break-up time 2mo after treatment,as well as in corneal staining(P=0.043,0.012),OSDI(Pch is the reason why this therapeutic procedure is proposed as an alternative for dry eye ***,it is not possible to attribute this beneficial effect solely to the presence of the natural extracts in the gel,primarily due to the absence of a negative control group.

The island rule entails a modification of the body size of insular mammals,a character related with numerous biological and ecological *** the Miocene to human colonization(Holocene),Mediterranean and Canary Islands were unaltered natural ecosystems,with paleofaunas formed with endemic giant rodents among other *** aim is to create methods to estimate the body masses of fossil island rodents and address the nature of ecological pressures driving the island *** created regression equations based on extant ro-dent data and used these to estimate the body masses of the extinct *** results show strong correlations between teeth,cranial and postcranial measurements and body mass,except for the length of the long bones,the transversal diameter of the distal tibia and the anteroposterior diameter of the proximal tibia,where the equa-tions were less *** use of equations obtained from a more homogeneous group(suborder and family)is preferable when analyzing the area of the first *** new regressions were applied to estimate the body masses of some Mediterranean and Canarian fossil rodents(Canariomys,*** 1.5 kg and *** 1 kg;Hypnomys,*** 230 g and *** 200 g;and Muscardinus cyclopeus 100 g).Our results indi-cate that under absence of predation,resource availability(island area)is the key factor that determines the size of the Canariomys ***,under presence of specialized predators(birds of prey),body size evolution is less pronounced(Hypnomys sp.).
