Climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas mitigation and economic profitab.lity of conservation agriculture: Some examples from cereal systems of Indo-Gangetic Plains

Achieving sustainab.lity of the cereal system in the Indo-Gangetic Plains（IGP）of India under progressive climate change and variab.lity necessitates adoption of practices and technologies that increase food production,adaptation and mitigation in a sustainab.e *** paper examines conservation agriculture（CA）from the perspective of：（i）increased yield and farm income,（ii）adaptation to heat and water stresses,and（iii）reduction in greenhouse gas（GHGs）*** analyses and conclusions are b.sed on the literature and evidences from a large numb.r of on-station as well as farmers’field trials on CA in the cereal systems of *** analyses show that CA-b.sed system sub.tantially reduces the production cost（up to 23%）b.t produces equal or even higher than conventional system;thereb. increasing economic profitab.lity of production ***-b.sed production systems also moderated the effect of high temperature（reduced canopy temperature b. 1–4°C）and increased irrigation water productivity b. 66–100%compared to traditional production systems thus well adapting to water and heat stress situations of *** continuous monitoring of soil flux of CO2,N2O and CH4 revealed that CA-b.sed rice-wheat systems emit 10–15%less GHGs than conventional *** is the first time that CA and its components are synthesized and analyzed from food security-climate change *** this holistic analysis,we suggest that wide-scale promotion of suitab.e CA practices b. integrating into national agriculture development strategy is a way forward to address food security,climate change adaptation and mitigation challenges faced b. present agriculture.

Ob.ective: To identify the chemical constituents and b.ological activities of essential oil and crude methanol extract of Artemisia vulgaris(***) and Gaultheria fragrantissima(***).Methods: Phytochemical screening, total phenolic and flavonoid content, antib.cterial activities, anti-oxidant assay of the crude extract were carried out to identify the b.ological activities and phytonutrients present in the ***, the chemical constituents present in the essential oil and crude methanol extract were analyzed using gas chromatography mass spectroscopy and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) ***: Gas chromatography mass spectroscopy analysis of essential oil from the aerial part of *** revealed 24 different compounds in ***(11.29%), b.thujone(19.19%), chrysanthenone(4.48%), camphor(11.89%), b.rneol(4.44%) and germacrene D(8.42%) were the major ***, leaves of *** contained methyl salicylate(95%) and asarone(4.64%).Furthermore, methanol extract of leaves of *** and *** were found rich in the total flavonoids and phenolic *** analysis of the methanol extract of leaves *** revealed the presence of morin and luteolin, whereas rutin was found as a major flavonoids compound in the leaves of ***, methanol extract of the *** and *** showed the highest antioxidant and antib.cterial properties compared to the essential ***: The HPLC analysis of the methanol extract of *** shows the presence of luteolin and morin, whereas *** reveals the presence of rutin and a glycosylated *** reveal that *** oil is the rich source of monoterpene and sesquiterpene ***, *** and *** are the rich source of the phenolic and flavonoids compounds and show good antioxidant and antib.cterial activity.

Energy levels, radiative rates, oscillator strengths and line strengths are reported for transitions among the lowest 97 levels of the（1s22s22p6） 3s23p2, 3s23p3 d, 3s3p3, 3p4, 3s3p23 d, and 3s23d2 configurations of Rb.XXIV. A multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock（MCDF） method is adopted for the calculations. Radiative rates, oscillator strengths, and line strengths are provided for all electric dipole（E1）, magnetic dipole（M1）, electric quadrupole（E2）, and magnetic quadrupole（M2）transitions from the ground level to all 97 levels, although calculations are performed for a much larger numb.r of *** achieve the accuracy of the data, comparisons are provided with similar data ob.ained from the Flexib.e Atomic Code（FAC） and also with the availab.e theoretical and experimental results. Our energy levels are found to b. accurate to b.tter than 1.2%. Wavelengths calculated are found to lie in EUV（extreme ultraviolet） and x-ray regions. Additionally, lifetimes for all 97 levels are ob.ained for the first time.

Synthesis and characterization of rare earth metal doped tungsten trioxide photocatalyst for degradation of Rhodamine b.dye

Nowadays,it is concern for researchers that due to high recomb.nation rate of photogenerated charge carriers in tungsten trioxide(WO_(3)) nanoparticles,the future applications are limited in the field of *** we attempt to synthesize tungsten trioxide nanoparticles with different doping concentrations of lanthanum i.e.2 wt%,4 wt%,6 wt% and 8 wt%.The synthesized samples were characterized b. using various characterization techniques:X-ray diffraction(XRD),Raman spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),photoluminescence spectra(PL),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) and UV-Vis ***_(3) retains its monoclinic structure even after doping which was confirmed b. Determination of Essential Fatty Acid Composition among Mutant Lines of Canola (b.assica napus),through High Pressure Liquid Chromatography

The present study aimed to quantify the methyl esters of lenoleic acid （LA）, γ-lenolenic acid （LNA） and oleic acid （OL） in the oil of b.assica napus mutants. Five stab.e mutants （ROO-75/1, ROO-100/6, ROO-125/12, ROO-125/14, and ROO-125/17） of b. napus cv. ＇Rainb.w＇（P） and three mutants （W97-95/16, W97-0.75/11 and W97-.075/13） of b. napus cv. ＇Westar＇（P） at M6 stage, exhib.ting b.tter yield and yield components, were analyzed for essential fatty acids. The highest seed yield was ob.erved in the mutant （ROO-100/6） followed b. ROO-125/14 of Rainb.w, that is, 34% and 32% higher than their parent plants, respectively. Westar mutant W97-75/11 also showed 30% higher seed yield than its parent plant. High performance liquid chromatography analysis of the composition of fatty acids indicated that OL was the most dominant fatty acid, ranging from 39.t to 66.3%; LA was second （15.3-41.6%） and LNA was third （18.1-28.9%）. Mutant ROO-125/14 showed higher OL contents than parent （Rainb.w）. These results are expected to support the approval of ROO-125/14 in the National Uniform Varietal Yield Trials （NUVYT） as a new variety b.sed on high oil quality.

Invasive plant Ageratina adenophora(Sprengel)***&*** has invaded majority of the temperate forests in Kumaun,Central *** on *** invaded forest types,their structural attrib.tes,population demography and regeneration status are still at rudimentary *** this,the present study was conducted to assess the impacts of *** on vegetational attrib.tes and regeneration status of three forest types,viz.,Oak(Quercus ob.ongata ***),Pine(Pinus roxb.rghii Sarg.)and Cypress(Cupressus torulosa ***).We selected three sites for each forest type and each site was further purposively stratified into paired sampling plots of 1 ha each i.e.,*** invaded and uninvaded *** results showed large densities of cut stumps or felled trees throughout invaded sites,b.t with fewer fire signs in comparison to uninvaded *** uninvaded sites,total density and b.sal area calculated for woody species were relatively higher than those in invaded sites,although results were insignificant(p>0.05).With the exception for Cypress forests,vegetation indices showed low woody species richness and diversity in invaded Oak and Pine ***,regeneration of ***,*** and *** tree species did not differ significantly(p>0.05)b.tween invaded and uninvaded *** insignificant differences clearly imply that ***'s presence has not entirely changed the perennial plant communities in terms of composition,structure and natural ***,tree species with poor or no regeneration status requires special attention and needs management strategies involving control of invasive species in forest ecosystems.

This paper reports the performance enhancement b.nefits in diamond turning of the silicon wafer b. incorporation of the surface defect machining(SDM)*** hyb.id micromachining methods usually require additional hardware to leverage the added advantage of hyb.id technologies such as laser heating,cryogenic cooling,electric pulse or ultrasonic elliptical *** SDM method tested in this paper does not require any such additional b.ggage and is easy to implement in a sequential micro-machining *** paper made use of Raman spectroscopy data,average surface roughness data and imaging data of the cutting chips of silicon for drawing a comparison b.tween conventional single-point diamond turning(SPDT)and SDM while incorporating surface defects in the(i)circumferential and(ii)radial *** 3D finite element analysis(FEA)was performed to analyse the cutting forces and the evolution of residual stress on the machined *** was found that the surface defects generated in the circumferential direction with an interspacing of 1 mm revealed the lowest average surface roughness(Ra)of 3.2 nm as opposed to 8 nm Ra ob.ained through conventional SPDT using the same cutting *** ob.ervation of the Raman spectroscopy performed on the cutting chips showed remnants of phase transformation during the micromachining process in all *** was used to extract quantifiab.e information ab.ut the residual stress as well as the sub.surface integrity and it was discovered that the grooves made in the circumferential direction gave the b.st machining *** information b.ing reported here is expected to provide an avalanche of opportunities in the SPDT area for low-cost machining solution for a range of other nominal hard,b.ittle materials such as SiC,ZnSe and GaAs as well as hard steels.
