Additive manufacturing of NiTi lightweight porous structures bio-mimicking coral skeleton with enhanced mechanical properties and shape memory functions

Concerning the high demand for lightweight and multifunctional properties of engineering structures, the coral skeleton-inspired sheet-based(CSS) structure, which was a novel bio-mimicking coral skeleton wall-septa architecture with a unique ability to resist wave shocks was fabricated using NiTi alloy by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF) technology. The effects of laser energy density(LED) on surface morphologies, microstructures, phase transformation behavior, and mechanical properties of LPBFfabricated CSS structures were systematically investigated. The results indicated that the size deviation was predominantly governed by powder adhesion and step effect. NiTi CSS structures with LED of 71 J·mm~(-3)possessed superior compressive modulus(~400 MPa), ultimate strength(~13 MPa), and energy absorption efficiency(~69%). The compression fracture mechanism of the LPBF-fabricated NiTi CSS structures was revealed to be predominantly brittle fracture accompanied by ductile fracture. Furthermore, the Ni_4Ti_3 nanoprecipitates induced the precipitation strengthening effect, enabling better shape memory response at LED of 71 J·mm~(-3), with a recoverable strain of 3.63% and recovery ratio of 90.8%, after heating under a pre-strain of 4%. This study highlights the importance of a bionic design strategy for enhancing the mechanical properties of NiTi components and offers the possibility to tailor its functional properties.

Distinct but correct: generating diversified and entity-revised medical response

Medical dialogue generation(MDG) is applied for building medical dialogue systems for intelligent consultation. Such systems can communicate with patients in real time, thereby improving the efficiency of clinical diagnosis. However, predicting correct entities and correctly generating distinct responses remain a great challenge. Inspired by actual doctors’ responses to patients, we consider MDG a two-stage task: entity prediction and dialogue generation. For entity prediction, we design an ent-mac post pre-training strategy by leveraging external medical entity knowledge to enhance the pre-trained model. For dialogue generation, we propose an entity-aware fusion MDG method in which predicted entities are integrated into the dialogue generation model through different encoding fusion mechanisms, using information from different sources. Because the diverse beam search algorithm can produce responses with entities that deviate from the predicted entities, an entity-revised diverse beam search is proposed to correct the entities entailed in the generated responses and make the generated responses more distinct. The experimental results on the China Conference on Knowledge Graph and Semantic Computing 2021(A/B tests) and the International Conference on Learning Representations 2021(online test) datasets show that the proposed method outperforms several state-of-the-art methods, which demonstrates its practicability and effectiveness.

To achieve sustainable desalination and water purification,solar interface evaporation technology is an effective means due to its high energy *** photothermal conversion materials and surface design are crucial for the interfacial solar evaporation *** to design water transport routes and thermal insulating layers simultaneously is one of the major challenges to solar interface evaporation technology ***,this work reports an arch-shaped wood evaporator(pine@carbon black(CB)-metal-organic framework-801(MOF-801)-36%)for efficient,fast and continuous interfacial solar evaporation,which is composed of an arch-shaped wood substrate,MOF-801,and CB as a light absorption *** archshaped structure has a double-sided evaporation effect,which has a synergistic effect on augmenting solar evaporation *** addition,the in-situ growth of MOF-801 in pretreated wood microchannels renders the wood evaporator a significant function of reducing the equivalent enthalpy of evaporation due to the reduction of the hydrogen bonding density of water molecules as they pass through the wood *** best evaporation rate of the arch-shaped wood evaporator can reach 2.535 kg·m^(−2)·h^(−1),and the efficiency reaches 93.7%under the irradiation of 1 sun ***,it could be used for desalination and wastewater treatment to collect fresh water that meets drinking requirements set by the World Health Organization(WHO).This integrated evaporator provides an efficient way for commercial portable photothermal conversion and new ideas for advanced solar-driven water treatment technology.

Subcellular Cd accumulation characteristic in root cell wall of rice cultivars with different sensitivities to Cd stress in soil

The variations of grain cadmiun（Cd） concentrations, translocation factors（TFs） of Cd from roots to shoots/grains of six rice cultivars, characterized with different Cd-sensitivities in polluted soil were studied, the selected rice cultivars were Xiangzao 17（R1）, Jiayu 211（R2）, Xiangzao 42（R3）, Zhuliangyou 312（R4）, Zhuliangyou 611（R5）, and Jinyou 463（R6）, respectively. The Cd subcellular distribution and Cd binding characteristics on subcellular fractions of rice root cell wall（CW） were further investigated. The results showed that the rice grain Cd contents varied significantly, with a maximum variation of 47.0% among the cultivars, the largest grain Cd content was observed with cultivar R1（Cd-sensitivity cultivar） and the smallest with R5（Cd-tolerance cultivar）. The translocation factors of Cd from roots to shoots（TF_（shoot）） and roots to grains（TF_（grain）） varied greatly among the cultivars. In general, the TFgrain of the cultivars followed the order of R1〉R2〉R3〉R4〉 R6-R5. The Cd concentration（mg kg^（–1） FW） in the fraction of root CW, the fraction of cell wall removing pectin（CW-P） and the fraction of cell wall removing pectin and hemicellulose（CW-P-HC） of the cultivars generally followed the order of CW-P〉CW〉CWP-HC; the ratios of Cd concentration（mg kg–1 FW） in the fraction of CW-P to that of CW were mostly more than 1.10, while the ratios of Cd concentration in the fraction of CW-P-HC to that of CW were mostly less than 0.60, indicating that Cd was mainly stored in the hemicellulose of the root CW. The ratios of Cd of CW-P-HC to CW generally followed the descending order of R1~R2〉R3〉R4〉R5~R6 for the cultivars, which implied that hemicellulose is probably the main subcellular pool for transferring Cd into rice grain, and it restrains the translocation of Cd from shoot to the grain, especially for the Cd-tolerance cultivars（R5 and R6）, the compartmentation of more Cd in hemicellulose in root CW is probably one of the main mechanisms for Cd tolerance of rice culti

From concept to commercialization:A review of tubular solid oxide fuel cell technology
