Pain Efficacy of a Home-Based Low-Intensity Continuous Ultrasound Stimulator for Knee Arthritis: A Single-Arm, open-Label, Prospective Clinical Trial

1) Background: osteoarthritis (oA) is defined as a degenerative joint disease that mainly affects the bone. This study aims to evaluate the effect of low-intensity continuous ultrasound (LICUS) treatment on the knee of osteoarthritis patients through home-based intervention using the LICUS medical device. 2) Methods: The clinical trials were designed in a single-arm, open-label, and intervention study. Thirty-five participants, including those who dropped out (12%), were screened and enrolled. The patients received LICUS (1.1 MHz, 1.5 W/cm2, collimated beams) on the knee by the instructions of the investigator at home (5 min/session, 3 times/day, for four-weeks). outcome measures were assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) as a primary endpoint and the Western ontario and McMaster Universities osteoarthritis Index (WoMAC) as a secondary endpoint to evaluate pain relief and functional recovery of the knee between pre-treatment (baseline) and post-treatment (four-weeks). 3) Results: Knee pain scores measured using the VAS and WoMAC indices were significantly reduced after a four-week treatment with LICUS compared to baseline. Knee stiffness and functional capacity were significantly reduced after the LICUS application. In addition, there were no reports of adverse effects during the study period. 4) Conclusion: Long-term and home-based application of LICUS can be recommended as an alternative option for the treatment of oA patients, as evidenced by the effect of pain relief and knee function recovery.

Selenium Alleviates Carbohydrate Metabolism and Nutrient Composition in Arsenic Stressed Rice Plants

This study reported the influence of selenium(Se)on carbohydrate composition and some related enzymes and nutrient compositions of arsenic(As)stressed rice *** plants of cultivar PR126 were grown on soil amended with As in a range of 25-100μmol/kg with and without 0.5 or 1.0 mg/kg *** soluble sugars(TSS)and reducing sugars(RS)increased in leaves of As stressed plants at the tillering and grain filling stages whereas sucrose and starch contents showed the reverse *** supplementation to As stressed plants further increased TSS and RS,and enhanced sucrose phosphate synthase activity in rice leaves,thus improving sucrose content and the tolerance to As stress of the *** alone or in combination with As resulted in lower As accumulation in rice husk and grains,and the highest reduction was observed in Se applied at 1.0 mg/kg compared to the corresponding As treatments *** may limit the accumulations of Na,Mg,K,Ca,Fe,Zn and Mn in rice grains,which are essential for *** application of different combinations of As and Se protected the plants against As and increased the mineral content in rice *** of Se in As treated soil significantly alleviated As stress by enhancing grain yields compared to the corresponding As *** is concluded that Se induced amelioration of the toxic impact of As in rice either by modulating carbohydrate composition and/or nutrient uptake is one of the mechanisms to alleviate As stress in plants.

Detection and Classification of Potential Caves on the Flank of Elysium Mons,Mars

Martian caves have revived interest in the field of subsurface exploration because they are the potential destinations for future human habitats and astrobiological *** are many pits on Mars,but some of them look like collapsed cave *** special pits are formed by the collapse of surface materials into the subsurface void *** signature of life is probable in a subsurface cave on Mars as the subsurface environment can protect life from the harsh and dangerous radiation environment of the *** a cave,there may be an abundance of minerals,fluids,and other key ***,locating the access point of the subsurface cave is essential and crucial for formulating plans for robotic/human explorations of the Red Planet,*** have used remote sensing data from Mars Reconnaissance orbiter(MRo;NASA),Mars Global Surveyor(MGS;NASA),and Mars odyssey(NASA)for identifying,mapping,and classifying selected special pit candidates on the flank of Elysium Mons,Mars.A total of 32 special pit candidates has been identified and classified based upon morphology and geological *** of these,26 are newly discovered *** thermal behavior of 23 special pit candidates confirms that the special pits are radiating heat energy at nighttime,similar to potential ***,cave entrances have been detected in nine candidates using data from the Hi RISE camera onboard *** sites could be important destinations for future robotic/human exploration and the search for life on Mars.

The effect of pH on stability and thermal performance of graphene oxide and copper oxide hybrid nanofluids for heat transfer applications:Application of novel machine learning technique

This paper investigates the effects of pH on stability and thermal properties of copper oxide(Cuo),graphene oxide(Go),and their hybrid nanofluid(HNF)at different mixing ***,sol-gel and Hummer’s method was employed for the synthesis of Cuo and Go nanoparticles(NPs),and they are characterized with various *** effects of two different surfactants were analyzed on nanofluid’s(NF’s)stability at different pH *** properties like thermal conductivity(TC)and viscosity(VST)of NFs were measured at different volume concentration(0.1 vol%to 1.0 vol%)and temperature range of 30-60℃,*** TC and VST of Go/Cuo(50:50)HNF are higher than that of Go/Cuo(20:80).The figure of merit(FoM)is determined for the studied *** correlations were presented to calculate the TC as well as VST of *** modern novel machine learning-based ensemble approaches were employed for predictive model development for TC and VST of considered *** comparison of prognostic models with Taylor’s diagram revealed that Bayesian optimized support vector machine(BoASVM)was superior to Bayesian optimized boosted regression trees(BoA-BRT)for both TC and VST models.

In this paper,we study the hyperstability for the general linear equation f(ax+by)=Af(x)+Bf(y)in the setting of complete quasi-2-Banach *** first extend the main fixed point result of Brzdek and Ciepliński(Acta Mathematica Scientia,2018,38 B(2):377-390)to quasi-2-Banach spaces by defining an equivalent quasi-2-Banach *** we use this result to generalize the main results on the hyperstability for the general linear equation in quasi-2-Banach *** results improve and generalize many results of literature.
