This paper investigates the geochemistry of bulk rock and infers the petrogenesis of ultramafic rocks in the Boali Precambrian terrane in Mbi Valley,in the North of the Central African Republic(CAR).The studied rocks comprise coarse primary olivine and orthopyroxene relics(dominant phase),magnesio-hornblende,magnetite,and ***-rock analysis indicates low SiO_(2)(average of 43.14 wt%)and high MgO(19.84–26.98 wt%)contents and their Mg number(Mg#)ranges from 74 to ***(526–865 ppm),Cr(1500–3680 ppm)***(Na_(2)O-K_(2)O)-FeO-MgO)and ACM(Al_(2)O_(3)-CaO-MgO)ternary diagrams have revealed that the studied samples correspond to arc-related ultramafic ***-normalized REE plots display an increasing trend from La to Sm(CeN/SmN:0.74–1.81),weak negative to no Eu(Eu/Eu*=0.72–1.05)and strong negative Ce(Ce/Ce*=0.33–0.98)*** mantle normalized of multi-element diagrams exhibit LREE enrichment and large ion lithophile elements(LILE)relative to high field strength elements(HFSE),and notable negative anomalies in *** suggests the generation of the parent melt by slab dehydration and wedge melting *** addition,incompatible trace element composition and ratios assumed that the source magma had an enhanced mantle source associated with a prominent influence of continental *** of mantle wedge by plate-dehydrated,LILE-rich fluids and the incorporation of sediments derived from subduction explain the enhancement of the *** major and trace element compositions jointly with the tectonic reconstruction of this region and LA-ICP-MS U–Pb data on zircon constrain the emplacement age at ca.2099 Ma in a continental margin arc setting involving subduction of an oceanic plate beneath the continental lithosphere,dehydration of the slab and mantle wedge *** result intimate that the remnants of Paleoproterozoic oceanic crust or subduction event and subsequent basins closure extended from

Laparoscopic Pyelolithotomy: Initial Experience with 62 Patients

Objective: To evaluate the role of the laparoscopic approach in the management of pelvic calculi in a urology centre in Douala, Cameroon. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective study carried out from 2014 to 2019 involving 62 patients with calculi at the renal pelvis managed through laparoscopic pyelolithotomy. Results: We recruited 62 patients (38 men and 24 women) with a median age of 36 [25 - 48] years. Nephritic colic was the most frequently encountered presenting complaint (92% of cases). In 56.45% of cases, the stone was on the left side of the body. Twelve patients had kidney acute failure at the time of diagnosis. Five patients received antibiotics for urinary tract infections before the operation. Before surgery, eight double J stents were placed in 8 patients;in five because of urinary tract infection and in three because of nephritic colic. In all the cases, the definitive diagnosis was made using abdominal CT scans. The median size of the calculi was 22 [17 - 28] mm. Dilatation of the pyelocaliceal cavity was noticed in all the patients. The median surgery duration was 100 [90 - 120] minutes. Drainage of the urinary tract using a double J stent was performed in all the patients, whereas percutaneous drainage was performed only in 9.67% of cases. There was no case of conversion to open surgery. Control ultrasound performed one month after the removal of the double J stent did not reveal any residual stones in the pyelocaliceal cavities. Conclusion: Laparoscopic pyelolithotomy is a mini-invasive technique that is adequate for the management of voluminous pelvic calculi.

This article aims to popularize the methods for determining the vibratory damping ratio, to explain the various mathematical and physical theorems related to the establishment of literal expressions. Vibration damping is an essential parameter to reduce the dynamic responses of structures. The study aimed at its determination is necessary and essential for the safeguard of buildings and human lives during the earthquake. Among the main methods studied in this article, the free vibration attenuation method seems to be easy to implement but requires a state-of-the-art device to capture the responses. In addition to this device, the other methods require other equipment for the vibration of the system and the transformation of the responses in the frequency domain.

Impact of Organic Soil Amendments on the Physical Characteristics and Yield Components of Potato （Solanum tuberosurn L.） in the Highlands of Cameroon

A field experiment was conducted in the Western Highlands of Cameroon to study the effects of Calliandra calothyrsus, sterilized compost, non-sterilized compost and mineral fertilizers （NPK 11：11：22） on physical characteristics, yield components and late blight disease severity of potato （Solanum tuberosum）. A two factorial treatment combination made up of fertilization schemes and sanitary measures were laid out in a randomized complete block design （RCBD） with four replicates and 10 treatments. Data collected were subjected to a multivariate ANOVA and means separated with the Dunnett t-test with Calliandra calothyrsus considered as the main treatment. Mineral fertilizers and Calliandra calothyrsus significantly augmented stem diameter, plant height and plant vigor, total and marketable yields, despite the fact that late blight severity was high in the two treatments. The correlation matrix showed that total yield had significant and positive correlation with stem diameter （r = 0.74）, plant height （r = 0.61）, plant vigor （r = 0.61） and marketable yield （r = 0.99） and negative correlation （r = -37） with late blight severity. The increase observed is attributed to the nutrient contents of the treatments applied. Leafy prunings of C. calothyrsus increase soil organic matter which probably improves moisture retention and biological activity. The highest late blight severity recorded between the 45 and 60 coincides with active development of plant canopy which influences disease severity and create a canopy microclimate conducive to disease development. This study suggests that Calliandra calothyrsus has the potential of improving potato production provided appropriate fungicide is used.

Cosmetic Lifting Effect of a Formula Combining Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine, Ononis Spinosa and Glycerin as Shown by a New 2-D Imaging Method

Facial sagging is a major aging change that affects the overall shape of the face. Sagging can negatively impact self-perception and consequently quality of life. In order to fight against this aging sign, we developed a combination of three active ingredients: Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine (THPE), Ononis Spinosa extract and Glycerin. In a clinical study, we assessed the efficacy of this association on facial sagging and wrinkles, with a special focus on immediate and lasting effects. Thirty-nine women applied the tested product daily during an eight-week treatment period. Clinical grading by experts and a new, easy to operate, 2-D imaging method were performed at different time points. The 2-D imaging method measured the upper eyelid lifting effect. The results showed an immediate and significant improvement in sagging and wrinkle parameters;these benefits were still observed seven hours after the first application. Results also showed a significant long-term improvement. The lifting effect calculated from the 2-D pictures was 1.08 mm immediately after application;the same method showed a 1.80 mm lifting effect following the eight-week treatment period. These results suggest that a skin care product combining THPE, Ononis Spinosa and Glycerin properties may be used to reduce sagging as well as wrinkles with both immediate and long term benefits.

Growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) and its receptors have been implicated in the progression of various tumors such as those of the prostate. Treatment modalities for prostate cancer in a localized stage or when it is still castration-sensitive yield good results in most patients. However, such treatments are only palliative in the advanced stage. Therefore, new therapeutic targets like growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor (GHRH-R) and its splice variants should be found in order to get effective treatments for more aggressive stages in prostate cancer. This review talks about the GHRH-R and its splice variants, the signaling pathways induced by GHRH to produce cancer, the structure activity relationship of GHRH-R antagonists and the resume of some in vitro and in vivo studies on the role of GHRH-R antagonists in the treatment of prostate cancer.

A Placebo-Controlled Study Demonstrates the Long-Lasting Anti-Aging Benefits of a Cream Containing Retinol, DihydroxyMethylChromone (DMC) and Hyaluronic Acid

Retinol is an ingredient used in cosmetic products for reducing the appearance of the signs of aging and photo-damage. Currently, most of these products contain 0.1% of retinol. However, at this concentration, some irritation can occur. We have evaluated in vitro and in a clinical study the potential efficacy of a combination of actives to improve the facial skin aging signs while using low concentration of retinol. We demonstrated, in vitro, that a chromone derivative, 5,7-di-hydroxy-2-methyl chromone (DMC), is able to enhance the collagen synthesis in culture of normal human dermal fibroblasts. The enhancement of retinol anti-wrinkle efficacy by DMC was confirmed in a small scale clinical trial. Specifically, a product associating low concentration of retinol (0.04%) and DMC (0.1%) in combination with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid fragments (50,000 Dalton of average molecular weight) has been applied topically for 8 weeks. Clinical results show significant improvement of various signs of facial skin aging such as wrinkles, pigmentary spots, tone unevenness, dullness and the overall photo-damage score. Improvements were still visible 4 weeks after the cessation of the test product application. This study demonstrates that significant lasting improvement of facial skin aging can be obtained with well tolerated low concentration of retinol when adequately formulated with other anti-aging ingredients.
