As the population across the globe continues to dramatically increase,the prevalence of cognitive impairment and dementia will inevitably increase as well,placing increasing burden on families and health care *** advancements over the past decade provide potential benefit in not only relieving caregiver burden of caring for a loved one with dementia,but also enables individuals with dementia to age in *** devices have served to improve functioning,tracking and ***,smartphones,tablets and the ubiquitous world wide web have facilitated the dissemination of health information to previously hard to reach populations largely through use of various social media *** this review,we discuss the current and future uses of technology via devices and social media to promote healthy aging in individuals with dementia,and also limitations and challenges to consider in the future.

With the Food and Drug Administration designation in 2017 of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine(MDMA)as a breakthrough therapy in post-traumatic stress disorder and psilocybin in treatment-resistant depression,psychedelic drugs have continued to garner the attention of researchers and clinicians for their promise of unmatched,rapid improvement in a multitude of psychiatric *** psychedelic drugs including psilocybin,lysergic acid diethylamide,and ayahuasca,as well as non-classic drugs such as MDMA and ketamine,are currently being investigated for a potential therapeutic role in trauma,depressive disorders,and other ***,psilocybin and MDMA each have a functional profile well-suited for integration with *** present review focuses on psilocybin and MDMA in psychedelic-assisted therapy(PAT),as these studies compose most of the literature *** this review,we discuss the current and future uses of psychedelic drugs,with an emphasis on the role of MDMA and psilocybin in PAT in the setting of trauma and related comorbidities on the efficacy of psychedelic drugs across multiple psychiatric *** article concludes with thoughts for future research,such as incorporating wearables and standardization of symptom scales,therapy styles,and assessment of adverse drug reactions.

Social media has redesigned the landscape of human interaction,and data obtained through these platforms are promising for schizophrenia diagnosis and *** research shows mounting evidence that machine learning analysis of social media content is capable of not only differentiating schizophrenia patients from healthy controls,but also predicting conversion to psychosis and symptom *** platforms such as Horyzons show promise for improving social functioning and providing timely access to therapeutic *** media is also a considerable means to assess and lessen the stigma surrounding ***,the relevant literature pertaining to social media and its clinical applications in schizophrenia over the past five years are summarized,followed by a discussion centered on user feedback to highlight future *** media provides valuable contributions to a multifaceted digital phenotype that may improve schizophrenia care in the near future.

Association between recognizing dementia as a mental illness and dementia knowledge among elderly Chinese Americans

＜正＞Increases in ambient aerosol concentrations are associated with adverse health effects such as respiratory irritation and changes in pulmonary function. To test hypotheses regarding effects of atmospheric aerosols, it is essential to measure the atmospheric aerosol properties accurately and efficiently. Since atmospheric aerosols are contributed by multiple sources of aerosol with a wide range of particle diameters, it is important to measure atmospheric aerosols from a few nanometers to several microns in particle diameter. The Wide-Range Particle Spectrometer （WPSTM） is a recently introduced commercial aerosol instrument with the unique capability to measure size distributions of aerosols over a diameter range of 0.01 to 10 μm （Liu et al. 2005）. A Scanning Mobility Spectrometer （SMS） comprised of a Differential Mobility Analyzer （DMA） and a Condensation Particle Counter （CPC） is used to measure particles from 0.01 to 0.5 μm and a Laser Particle Spectrometer （LPS） is used to measure particles from 0.35 to 10 μm. These components are small enough to fit within a single portable cabinet （-25 kg） with all accompanying control hardware and electronics. No external pumps are required and power consumption is only 150 W. The WPS was tested in the field for semi-continuous atmospheric sampling during extended periods of time as a way to measure the time-evolution of the atmospheric aerosol size distribution in an urban setting. Results from these measurements show that the WPS works well in various ambient conditions with temperature ranging from 11 ℃ to 35 ℃ and relative humidity ranging from 10% to 70%. Detailed diurnal profiles and nucleation events of atmospheric aerosol size distributions were observed using the WPS in these measurements. With its relatively small size, light weight, low power consumption, and user friendliness, the WPS can perform unprecedented aerosol size distribution measurements in a wide particle diameter range （10 nm - 10,000 nm）. AIM: To investigate whether older Chinese Americans perceive dementia as a mental illness and the relationship between such perception and their general understanding of dementia remains unclear. Our study aims to understand this relationship and its future implication on improving dementia literacy among ethnic ***: Elderly Chinese American participants from the Greater Los Angeles were asked to complete an 11-item dementia questionnaire, following a community health seminar. Cross-sectional survey data was analyzed using standard statistical ***: The questionnaire received an 88.3% response rate. Among 316 responders, only 28.8%(n = 91) of elderly Chinese Americans identified dementia as a mental illness, and 71.2%(n = 225) did not recognize its mental disease origin. Furthermore, in comparison between these two groups, the first group demonstrated significantly higher level of baseline knowledge of the ***: This study reveals that only approximately 1 out of 4 older Chinese Americans recognized dementia as a mental illness, consistent with previous studies on Asian Americans. Our study however showed that when dementia was being perceived as a mental illness, such perception was associated with a higher level of baseline dementia understanding. The current study suggested the potential of improving older Chinese Americans dementia literacy by increasing awareness of its mental illness origin.
