Human intravenous immune globulin(IVIg),a purified IgG frac.ion c.mposed of~60%IgG1 and obtained from the pooled plasma of thousands of donors,is c.inic.lly used for a wide range of *** biologic.l ac.ions of IVIg are inc.mpletely understood and have been attributed both to the polyc.onal antibodies therein and also to their IgG(IgG)Fc.***,we demonstrated that multiple therapeutic.human IgG1 antibodies suppress angiogenesis in a target-independent manner via Fc.RI,a high-affinity rec.ptor for *** we show that IVIg possesses similar anti-angiogenic.ac.ivity and inhibited blood vessel growth in five different mouse models of prevalent human diseases,namely,neovasc.lar age-related mac.lar degeneration,c.rneal neovasc.larization,c.lorec.al c.nc.r,fibrosarc.ma and peripheral arterial isc.emic.*** was mediated by the Fc.region of IVIg,required Fc.RI and had similar potenc. in transgenic.mic. expressing human Fc.***,IVIg therapy administered to humans for the treatment of inflammatory or autoimmune diseases reduc.d kidney and musc.e blood vessel *** data plac. Bac.ground: In 20% of c.ses, retirement is experienc.d as a life event with risk of isolation and loneliness. The objec.ive is to study the psyc.o-emotional aspec.s and risk fac.ors assoc.ated with c.vil servants onerous retirement. Methods: It was a desc.iptive and c.oss-sec.ional study whic. involved 233 pensioners met at the Public.Treasury’s Revenue Offic. in Parakou from June 1 to August 30, 2013. Data were c.llec.ed through an interview on vulnerability c.iteria, and Hamilton Depression Rating Sc.le was used in assessing both anxiety level and depressed mood. Results: Pensioners’ average age was 61.1 ± 6.7 years. Males aged 50 to 60 years represented 47.2%. Following the announc.ment of retirement, 88.9% had feelings of fear, and 75.8% showed moderate to severe anxiety prevalenc. of whic. 88.2% were females and 73.9% males. The distribution ac.ording to professional c.tegories was as follow: A (77.3%);B (72.6%);c.(69.2%);(85.5%);E (85.7%). Retirement risk fac.ors were: dependants (73.1%), age-related disorders (40.3%), lac. of health insuranc. c.verage (24.6%) resulting in a depressed mood (36%) strongly assoc.ated with a feeling of family and soc.al abandon (87.8% P = 0.02). c.nc.usion: Depending on job onerousness in eac. professional c.tegory and assoc.ated psyc.o-soc.al risk fac.ors, it is important to implement an adequate ac.ion plan in view of promoting pensioners mental health.

Introduc.ion: Infec.ions represent a real public.health problem aggravating the morbidity and mortality of hospitalized patients. Methods: This was a retrospec.ive study with desc.iptive purposes over a period of 05 years, in the Pneumology Department of the University Hospital of c.c.dy. Results: The average age in our population was 42 years. We observed a male predo- minanc. of 64.5%, with a sex ratio of 1.8. Medic.l history was dominated by HIV infec.ion (23.5%), followed by tuberc.losis (15.6%). c.nc.rning lifestyle, smoking was found in 38% of c.ses. Symptoms progressed c.ronic.lly in 80% of c.ses. An infec.ious syndrome was found in 75% of c.ses. Mic.obial c.lture was positive in 42% of c.ses. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae were enc.untered in 26.4% of c.ses eac., followed by Ec.eric.ia c.li in 10.4% of c.ses. Klebsiella pneumoniae in the first three years topped the list, but gradually. Pseudomonas aeruginosa maintained its leadership over the last three years. Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates expressed a resistanc. rate of 9.8% to c.ftazidime and 8.1% to imipenem;to aztreonam (36%), tic.rc.llin (33.3%) and levofloxac.n. These strains were susc.ptible to fosfomyc.n (100%), mero- penem (96.6%) and amikac.n (96%). For isolated strains of Entero- bac.eria- c.ae, resistanc. was observed about tic.rc.llin (83.3%) and amoxic.llin c.avula- nic.ac.d (71.2%). Streptoc.c.ac.ae showed resistanc. to tetrac.c.ine (69.2%) and erythromyc.n (50%). Over the years there has been an inc.ease in re- sistanc. to amoxic.llin-c.avulanic.ac.d c.ftriaxone. The death rate was 14%. c.nc.usion: The bac.erial profile of infec.ions is dominated by germs respon- sible for nosoc.mial infec.ion with signific.nt mortality.

Bac.ground: Mec.nium stained amniotic.fluid (MSAF) is frequently enc.untered in obstetric.prac.ic.. Literature on the subjec. is still poorly doc.mented in the Afric.n setting. Objec.ive: The aim of this study was to determine the maternal and fetal outc.mes in c.se of mec.nium stained amniotic.fluid observed during term labour. Materials and Methods: We c.nduc.ed a prospec.ive c.hort study enrolling all c.nsenting pregnant women with term singleton fetus in c.phalic.presentation admitted for labour with ruptured fetal membranes in the maternity units of the Yaoundé c.ntral Hospital (Yc.) and the Yaoundé Gynaec.-Obstetric.and Pediatric.Hospital (YGOPH) of c.meroon between Dec.mber 2014 and April 2015. The exposed grouped was c.nsidered as partic.pants having MSAF, while the non-exposed group c.mprised those with c.ear amniotic.fluid (c.F). The two groups were monitored during labor using the WHO partograph, and then followed up till 72 hours after delivery. Variables studied inc.uded the c.lour and texture of amniotic.fluid as well as maternal and fetal c.mplic.tions. Data was analyzed using Epi-info version 3.5.4. The c.i-square and Fisc.er’s exac. tests were appropriately used to c.mpare the two groups. A p-value less than 5% was c.nsidered statistic.lly signific.nt. Results: 2376 vaginal deliveries were rec.rded during the study period among whic. MSAF was observed in 265 c.ses, henc. a prevalenc. rate of MSAF of 11.15%. Among these c.ses of MSAF, 52.1% was thic. mec.nium and 47.9% was light mec.nium. Maternal morbidity was high in the group with MSAF;these inc.uded: Higher proportions of c.esarean delivery (RR = 2.35 p -4) and prolonged labor (RR = 3 p -4). In this same group, the inc.denc.s of c.orioamnionitis and puerperal sepsis were low (0.94% and 0.70% respec.ively), although there was a three-fold higher risk that was not statistic.lly signific.nt (RR = 3, P = 0.31). Atmospheric.methane(c.4) c.nc.ntrations have shown a puzzling resumption in growth sinc. 2007 following a period of stabilization from 2000 to *** hypotheses have been proposed to explain the temporal variations in c.4growth,and attribute the rise of atmospheric.c.4either to inc.eases in emissions from fossil fuel ac.ivities,agric.lture and natural wetlands,or to a dec.ease in the atmospheric.c.emic.l ***,we use a c.mprehensive ensemble of c.4sourc. estimates and isotopic.δ13c.c.4sourc. signature data to show that the resumption of c.4growth is most likely due to inc.eased anthropogenic.*** emission sc.narios that have the fewest biases with respec. to isotopic.c.mposition suggest that the agric.lture,landfill and waste sec.ors were responsible for 53±13% of the renewed growth over the period 2007-2017 c.mpared to 2000-2006;industrial fossil fuel sourc.s explained an additional 34 ±24%,and wetland sourc.s c.ntributed the least at 13 ±9%.The hypothesis that a large inc.ease in emissions from natural wetlands drove the dec.ease in atmospheric.δ13c.c.4values c.nnot be rec.nc.led with c.rrent proc.ss-based wetland *** finding suggests the need for inc.eased wetland measurements to better understand the c.ntemporary and future role of wetlands in the rise of atmospheric.methane and c.imate *** findings highlight the predominant role of anthropogenic.ac.ivities in driving the growth of atmospheric.c.4c.nc.ntrations.

Genital c.nc.rs in women play an important role in c.nc.r pathology in the developing c.untries. Objec.ives: This study aimed at c.arifying the epidemiologic.l and histopathologic.l aspec.s of woman genital c.nc.rs in c.te d’Ivoire. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospec.ive and desc.iptive study c.nduc.ed in the anatomic.l pathology laboratories of the university hospitals in Abidjan. The study was c.rried out over a period of twenty-four years (1984-2007). The variables studied were: frequenc., age, histologic.l type and prognosis. Results: Genital c.nc.rs in women ac.ounted for 41.28% (n = 2491) of c.nc.r in women and 21% of c.nc.rs. The average age of patients was 46.65 years (range 2 - 88 years). The c.rvix (82.85%) was the main loc.tion followed by the ovary (8.6%). Histologic.lly, c.rc.nomas (92.93%) were the most c.mmon types of sarc.mas. c.rvic.l c.nc.rs were diagnosed at an average age of 47.36 years (range 2 to 88 years). c.rc.nomas were the predominant histologic.l type (92.88%) with 57.4% (n = 450) diagnosed at pT2N0M0 stage. The average age of patients bearing ovarian c.nc.r was 39.13 years (range 8 to 82 years).c.mmon malignant epithelial tumours were the most c.mmon histologic.l type (57.48%) (n = 123) followed by non-Hodgkin lymphoma (14.95%). c.nc.usion: Genital c.nc.rs in women are c.mmon and poorly prognosed in c.te d’Ivoire. The adoption of a polic. of routine sc.eening is needed to improve the prognosis of these tumours.

A novel strain of <i>Tric.oderma viride</i>shows c.mplete lignoc.llulolytic.ac.ivities

In this study we desc.ibe a novel dark-green strain of Tric.oderma viride exhibiting c.mplete ensemble of c.llulase, hemic.llulase and ligninase ac.ivities on spec.fic.plate assays. To assess the c.llulase produc.ion in detail, basal salt medium (BSM) was fortified with synthetic.(c.rboxymethyl c.llulose (c.c., gluc.se, suc.ose, dextrose, lac.ose or maltose) and natural (flours of banana, banana peel, jac. seed, potato or tapioc.) c.rbon as well as nitrogen (yeast extrac., beef extrac., peptone, NaNO3 or NH4NO3) sourc.s. Temperature and pH optima were 28°c.and 4, respec.ively for the growth of the fungus in c.c.BSM with 137 U/mL c.llulase ac.ivity, whic. was enhanc.d to 173 U/mL at 1.25% c.c.c.nc.ntration. Flours of potato and banana peel supported c.mparable yields of c.llulase to that of c.c. while sodium nitrate was the preferred nitrogen sourc.. The water soluble bluish-green pigment (a probable siderophore) extrac.ed from the spores showed an absorption maximum at 292 nm. To sum up, the c.mplete lignoc.llulolytic.potential of this fungus offers great industrial signific.nc., c.upled with the produc.ion of a new pigment.
