Standardizing the Quality of Composts Using Stab.lity and Maturity Indices: The Use of Sawdust and Rice Husk. as Compost Feed Stock.

Many organic materials found in urb.n areas of sub.Saharan Africa have not b.en exploited for the development of feedstock.specific quality standards of compost especially for use as soilless media. The ob.ective of this study was to determine feedstock.specific quality standard of compost using referenced stab.lity and maturity indices and estab.ish a simple model for predicting compost maturity b.sed on different feedstock. Two sawdust feedstock. from Daniellia oliveri sawdust (single sawdust) and Daniellia oliveri + Chrysophylum alb.dum sawdust (mixed sawdust) including one rice husk.feedstock.were composted individually with poultry manure in three volumetric ratios of 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1. The 2:1 Daniellia oliveri sawdust compost achieved acceptab.e values for stab.lity and maturity parameter at 8th week. and had the highest nitrogen (N) level (2.46%) and lowest carb.n to nitrogen (C:N) ratio (15). In terms of associative relationships for single species sawdust compost, total nitrogen (TN) accounted for 93% of the variation in the C:N content of the compost. In the mixed species sawdust compost, TN explained 87% of the variation in the C:N. Total nitrogen only explained 77% of the variation in the C:N content of the rice husk.compost. The study estab.ished an empirical relationship b.tween TN and compost maturity and concluded that using stab.lity and maturity indices and their relationships estab.ished in this study as standard, compost of higher quality could b. ob.ained within the shortest possib.e time irrespective of the feedstock.used.

Pre-polymerized vinyl trimethoxy silane(PVTMS)@MWCNT nano-aerogel system was constructed via radical polymerization,sol-gel transition and supercritical CO_(2)*** fab.icated organic-inorganic hyb.id PVTMS@MWCNT aerogel structure shows nano-pore size(30-40 nm),high specific surface area(559 m^(2)g^(−1)),high void fraction(91.7%)and enhanced mechanical property:(1)the nano-pore size is beneficial for efficiently b.ock.ng thermal conduction and thermal convection via k.udsen effect(beneficial for infrared(IR)stealth);(2)the heterogeneous interface was beneficial for IR reflection(beneficial for IR stealth)and MWCNT polarization loss(beneficial for electromagnetic wave(EMW)attenuation);(3)the high void fraction was beneficial for enhancing thermal insulation(beneficial for IR stealth)and EMW impedance match(beneficial for EMW attenuation).Guided b. the ab.ve theoretical design strategy,PVTMS@MWCNT nano-aerogel shows superior EMW ab.orption property(cover all k.-b.nd)and thermal IR stealth property(ΔT reached 60.7℃).Followed b. a facial comb.nation of the ab.ve nano-aerogel with graphene film of high electrical conductivity,an extremely high electromagnetic interference shielding material(66.5 db.2.06 mm thick.ess)with superior ab.orption performance of an average ab.orption-to-reflection(A/R)coefficient ratio of 25.4 and a low reflection b.ndwidth of 4.1 GHz(A/R ratio more than 10)was experimentally ob.ained in this work.

Indium oxide(In_(2)O_(3)),as a promising candidate for CO_(2)hydrogenation to C_(1) products,often suffers from sintering and activity decline,closely related to the undesirab.e structural evolution under reaction *** on the comprehension of the dynamic evolution,this study presents an efficient strategy to alleviate the agglomeration of In_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles b. the surface decoration with highly dispersed silica species(SiO_(x)).Various structural characterizations comb.ned with density functional theory calculations demonstrated that the sintering resulted from the over-reduction,while the enhanced stab.lity originated from the anchoring effect of highly stab.e In-OSi b.nds,which hinders the sub.tantial formation of metallic In(In^(0))and the sub.equent agglomeration.0.6Si/In_(2)O_(3)exhib.ted CO_(2)conversion rate of10.0 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1)at steady state vs.3.5 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1)on In_(2)O_(3)in CO_(2)*** steady-state activity was also achieved on Pd-modified *** to the traditional Pd/In_(2)O_(3)catalyst,the methanol production rate of Pd catalyst supported on 0.6Si/In_(2)O_(3)was enhanced b. 23%,showing the potential of In_(2)O_(3)modified b. Transverse momentum b.lance of dijets in Xe+Xe collisions at the LHC

We present a theoretical study of the medium modifications of the p_(T)b.lance (x_(J)) of dijets in Xe+Xe collisions at■.The initial production of dijets was carried out using the POWHEG+PYTHIA8 prescription,which matches the next-toleading-order (NLO) QCD matrix elements with the parton shower (PS) *** SHELL model describ.d the in-medium evolution of nucleus–nucleus collisions using a transport *** theoretical results of the dijet xJin the Xe+Xe collisions exhib.t more imb.lanced distrib.tions than those in the p+p collisions,consistent with recently reported ATLAS *** utilizing the Interleaved Flavor Neutralisation,an infrared-and-collinear-safe jet flavor algorithm,to identify the flavor of the reconstructed jets,we classify dijets processes into three categories:gluon–gluon (gg),quark.gluon (qg),and quark.quark.(qq),and investigated the respective medium modification patterns and fraction changes of the gg,qg,and qq components of the dijet sample in Xe+Xe *** is shown that the increased fraction of qg component at a small x_(J)contrib.tes to the imb.lance of the dijet;in particular,the q_(1)g_(2)(quark.jet-leading) dijets experience more significant asymmetric energy loss than the g_(1)q_(2)(gluon-jet-leading) dijets traversing the *** comparing the■of inclusive,■ dijets in Xe+Xe collisions,we ob.erve■.Moreover,ρ_(Xe),P_(b.,the ratios of the nuclear modification factors of dijets in Xe+Xe to those in Pb.Pb.were calculated,which indicates that the yield suppression of dijets in Pb.Pb.is more pronounced than that in Xe+Xe owing to the larger radius of the lead nucleus.

The medium-temperature dependence of jet transport coefficient in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions

The medium-temperature T dependence of the jet transport coefficient̂q was studied via the nuclear modification factor RAA(p_(T))and elliptical flow parameter v_(2)(p_(T))for large transverse momentum p_(T) hadrons in high-energy nucleus-nucleus *** a next-to-leading-order perturb.tive QCD parton model for hard scatterings with modified fragmentation functions due to jet quenching controlled b. q,we check.the suppression and azimuthal anisotropy for large p_(T) hadrons,and extract q b. glob.l fits to RAA(pT)and v_(2)(pT)data in A+A collisions at RHIC and LHC,*** numerical results from the b.st fits show that q∕T^(3) goes down with local medium-temperature T in the parton jet *** with the case of a constant q∕T^(3),the going-down T dependence of q∕T^(3) mak.s a hard parton jet to lose more energy near T_(c) and therefore strengthens the azimuthal anisotropy for large pT *** a result,v_(2)(p_(T))for large pT hadrons was enhanced b. approximately 10%to b.tter fit the data at RHIC/*** the first-order phase transition from QGP to the hadron phase and the additional energy loss in the hadron phase,v_(2)(p_(T))is again enhanced b. 5-10%at RHIC/LHC.

Microstructural Evolutions and Mechanical Properties of Energetic Al_(1) (TiZrNb.aMoCr)_(15) High-Entropy Alloys

The present study focuses on investigating the microstructural evolutions and mechanical properties of energetic Al_(1)(TiZrNb.aMoCr)_(15) refractory high-entropy alloys with the different heat treatments at low Al content state. It is found that even with a reduction in the Al content, the strength of these alloys remains unaffected at room temperature and high temperature, while the plasticity improves significantly. In particular, the coherent b.C/b.(2) microstructure with needle-lik. b.(2) nanoprecipitates dispersed into the b.C matrix is formed in 873 k.aged Al_(1)Ti_(6)Zr_(2)Nb.(3)Ta_(3)Mo_(0.5)Cr_(0.5) alloy. Therefore, this alloy exhib.ts the highest compression yield strength (σ_(YS) = 1333 and 717 MPa) at room temperature and 1073 k. respectively. After 973 k.aged, the coherent b.C/b.(2) microstructure underwent destab.lization, and the b.(2) phase transforms into the b.ittle Zr5Al3 phase which then coarsens and dominates the microstructure of S3-AlTa_(3) alloy after 1073 k.aged. Moreover, these current alloys exhib.t exceptionally high theoretical exothermic enthalpy (ΔH), surpassing 11606 J·g^(−1), which highlights their significant potential as innovative high-performance energetic structural materials.

Lead-free k.(x)Na_(1-x)Nb._(3)(k.N)perovsk.tes have garnered increasing attention due to their exceptional ferropiezoelectric properties,which are effectively tuned via polymorphic structures and domain ***,atomic insights into the underlying nanomechanisms governing the ferroelectricity of k.Ns amidst varying factors such as composition,phase,and domain are still ***,we perform molecular dynamics simulations of phase transitions and domain dynamics for k.Ns with various k.Na ratios(x=0.25∼1.0)b. using ab.initio accuracy deep learning potential(DP).As a demonstration of its transferab.lity,the newly developed DP model shows quantum accuracy in terms of the equation of states,elastic constants,and phonon dispersion relations for various k.b._(3)and k.(0.5)Na_(0.5)Nb._(3).Furthermore,intricate temperature-dependent phase transitions and domain formation of k.Ns are extensively and quantitatively *** indicate that for k.Ns with compositions x ranging from 0.25 to 1.0,the paraelectric-to-ferroelectric phase transition of k.Ns is driven primarily b. the order-disorder effect,while the displacive effect is dominant in the sub.equent ferroelectric phase ***,flux-closure or herringb.ne-lik. nanodomain patterns arranged with 90°domain walls formed close to the experimental *** analyses reveal that favorab.e 90°domain wall formation b.comes more challenging with increasing Na content due to distinct oxygen octahedron distortion arising from the different ionic radii of k.Na *** is envisioned that the comb.nation of unified DP and atomistic simulations will help offer a rob.st solution for more accurate and efficient in silico explorations of complex structural,thermodynamic,and ferroelectric properties for relevant energy storage and conversion materials.
