This paper presents the design and development of a health information system following the requirements of Spanish law as well as physicians and patients. In Spain, these systems are relatively new because, until recently, ownership of patients＇ medical records belonged to the health institution. The proposed system gives patients all the information about their medical records, online. The difference from other initiatives is that the hospital provides patients with information and the latter are responsible for its future use. Importantly, this application allows physicians to carry out a personalized and individualized monitoring and treatment of each patient. The tests were conducted with real patients, all with a chronic disease （to show each patient the personalized data）. They all expressed their appreciation of this application＇s usefulness, and obtained satisfaction level was very high. Thanks to having medical information stored on the proposed system, it can be provided to other specialists to improve the knowledgement about the patient.

The objective of the present work is characterizing some parameters in the lay phase in the lines of heavy broilers breeder Cobb Avian 48, Arbor Acres Plus and Ross 208, reared under the same commercial conditions in the tropics. Monitored three batches of approximately 18,000 females each （one for each genetic type）, from weeks 24 to 64, according to the conditions of handling and power described by the generic lines distribution companies. Although no differences were found for feed intake, Cobb Avian was presented a lower rate of feed conversion, being also that presented the highest percentage of implementation and production of incubables eggs, which meant that it was in line with the highest cumulative production of chickens by bird and week for tropical conditions studied. To adjust the lay data to a Gorssman model, in order to predict the parameters that characterize the lay modeling, estimated the best behavior for Cobb Avian 48 females, because while it takes more time to reach the level of putting constant （5.30 weeks） and maintain it for less time （2.4 weeks）, they manage to put constant high （79.11%） level, considering that the largest number of eggs per bird （171.19 vs. 164.54 and 160.11 in Arbor Acres and Ross 208, respectively）.

Corneal endothelium defects are one of the leading causes of blindness *** actual treatment is transplantation,which requires the use of human cadaveric donors,but it faces several problems,such as global shortage of ***,new alternatives are being developed and,among them,cell therapy has gained interest in the last years due to its promising results in tissue ***,the direct administration of cells may sometimes have limited success due to the immune response,hence requiring the combination with extracellular mimicking *** this review,we present different methods to obtain corneal endothelial cells from diverse cell sources such as pluripotent or multipotent stem ***,we discuss different substrates in order to allow a correct implantation as a cell sheet and to promote an enhanced cell *** this reason,natural or synthetic matrixes that mimic the native environment have been *** matrixes have been optimized in terms of their physicochemical properties,such as stiffness,topography,composition and *** further enhance the matrixes properties,these can be tuned by incorporating certain molecules that can be delivered in a sustained manner in order to enhance biological ***,we elucidate future directions for corneal endothelial regeneration,such as 3D printing,in order to obtain patient-specific substrates.

This project describes an integral solution to implement a module-based platform for the control of all the automated systems inside a house and a remote control of the entrance access to this house. A biometrical access based on the hand veins has been used with a complete local and remote access control system. A technologically ergonomic way to control the house, as well as some biological signal monitoring has also been developed. This has been done by knowing the physical restrictions of the collective who will live in the house. A set of different sensors will control this operation. In order to control all the home automated systems coordinate the whole platform using the TV remote. This project will implement the OSGI standard. This implementation should ensure the system scalability in terms of including new hardware. In addition, a ZibBee networking system has been developed to enable communication between all the sensors, systems and the central processor.

Effect of Castration on Sensorial and Instrumental Characteristics of Longissimus Dorsi Muscle （LDM） of Brahman Cattle

This study aimed to investigate the effect of castration on the sensory and instrumental qualities of the longisssimus dorsi muscle of Brahman. Fifty animals （25 Brahman castrated and 25 uncastrated） were fed with forage and finished with forage and a commercial feed. The sensory analysis was performed by a seven-member sensory panel that had been trained. The panel evaluated the juiciness, myofibril tenderness, overall tenderness, connective tissue amount and flavor intensity of each sample according to an 8-point scale. The steaks that were to be used in the instrumental analysis were frozen, thawed, and cooked just like those used in the sensory analysis test. In order to assess shear force, the steaks were cooled 2 h at room temperature. Each strip was sheared once with a Warner-Bratzler ceil, and an average shear force value was calculated and recorded for each steak. Water retention capacity was measured as weight loss during cooking. Steaks used for shear force analysis were weighted before and after cooking. Significant differences were observed （P 〈 0.05） among sensory attributes, shear force, and cooking loss values in the beef of castrated and uncastrated. Both the panel and the consumers were able to detect differences in sensory characteristics between castrated and uncastrated, with the ratings favoring the castrated. The Warner-Bratzler device was also able to detect differences in tenderness between both groups, with steer beef having lower shear force and cooking loss values.

A large number of papers published in the last decades are related to the effect of ozone exposure on mortality worldwide. Several studies have been performed to investigate the effect of ozone on mortality in Madrid （Spain）, but the findings of these local reports were focused only on the Madrid city. The association of daily concentrations of ozone with daily mortality was investigated using autoregressive Poisson regression models. This study explores the effects of ozone on all causes except accidents, cardiovascular and respiratory short-term mortality in two areas of the Madrid region： an urban area constituted by the Madrid municipality and an industrial sub-urban area surrounding the city. Using three years of daily data （2003-2005）, it was analyzed the all-ages populations and the over-64 age groups. The average ozone concentrations over the study period were 54.07 ± 27.17 μg/m3 in the Madrid municipality and 70.09 ± 32.96 μg/m3 in the sub-urban municipalities surrounding the city. Our results in the all-ages group indicated that 0.69% of all causes except accidents, 1.15% of cardiovascular and 1.56% of respiratory daily deaths, respectively, could be attributed to exposure to ozone in the Madrid city, whereas 11.69% of daily respiratory deaths were attributable to ozone exposure in the Madrid sub-urban surroundings. Our results show a clear association between mortality and ozone exposure. The spatial heterogeneity of ozone effects on short-term mortality throughout the Madrid region may have implications for local environmental policies and also for social and health services planning.

The aim of this study is to analyze the difficulties of reading and writing experienced by primary school pupils when writing a script for a theatrical performance called ＂digestion＂. Our main research questions are： how does a theatrical performance help to reconsider the scripts and to build a model of the digestive system？ The pupils were encouraged to stage a theatrical performance for the whole school, explaining the digestion of a sandwich, a glass of water, an apple and a piece of chewing gum. The play helped to develop not only knowledge but also language. Having to produce a text for two different audiences, teachers and other learners led the students to debate between using ＂academic＂ vocabulary or more everyday vocabulary. Overall we found that they were more concerned with writing ＂academic＂ scripts, influenced by the texts that they consulted, than with writing a play accessible to all audiences.

Neuronal and glial differentiation potential of skin-derived precursors is of great interest for clinical application in the treatment of neurodegenerative disease. In this sense, the pig model is a great candidate for the development of preclinical models. To the date, skin-derived precursor spheres have not been isolated from adult porcine skin. In order to optimize the protocol for isolating dermal precursor spheres from adult porcine skin, 15 porcine skin biopsies were subjected to three different processing protocols. Liberase-based digestion of ventral porcine skin gave rise to more cells with spherogenic capacity than other protocols and these spheres presented phenotypic and differentiation potential consistent with bona fide skin-derived precursor cells.
