chronic myeloid leukemia(cML)is a myeloproliferative neoplasm and was the first neoplastic disease associated with a well-defined genotypic anomaly―the presence of the Philadelphia *** advances in cytogenetic and molecular assays are of great importance to the diagnosis,prognosis,treatment,and monitoring of *** discovery of the breakpoint cluster region(BcR)-Abelson murine leukemia(ABL)1 fusion oncogene has revolutionized the treatment of cML patients by allowing the development of targeted drugs that inhibit the tyrosine kinase activity of the BcR-ABL *** kinase inhibitors(known as TKIs)are the standard therapy for cML and greatly increase the survival rates,despite adverse effects and the odds of residual disease after discontinuation of *** therapeutic alternatives,the subsequent TKIs lead to faster and deeper molecular remissions;however,with the emergence of resistance to these drugs,immunotherapy appears as an alternative,which may have a cure potential in these *** this background,this article aims at providing an overview on cML clinical management and a summary on the main targeted drugs available in that context.

With Internet changing the luxury business landscape,new players have emerged such as the Online Private Sales Retailers(OPSRs).These offer online buyers with a choice of limited-time sales to help companies get rid of their *** brands are no *** research has been conducted about how luxury consumers relate with such websites,hence this *** an exploratory fashion,interviews with luxury buyers who also buy online on OPSRs,are conducted to get insights on consumers’perceptions and luxury brand equity that selling through OPSRs may *** find that appropriate product and brand help consumers forget that they are buying brands’unsold stocks,that transferring the luxury webmospheres would be positively perceived,that consumers from these websites are looking for benefits such as freedom of use and brand discovery,rather than personalized offers,that multiple discounts on several OPSRs may damage the luxury-perception of a brand,that the private sales members consider the service to be good enough for the demanded price,and that personalized invitations can help increase online consumers’feelings of desirability and *** paper concludes with practical recommendations for both luxury companies and OPSRs.

Multicentric cervical Paraganglioma. Rare case of Five Locations in One Patient. case Report and Literature Review

Objective: To report a case of a multiple paraganglioma with 5 concurrent locations and also describe a complication not found in the literature, spontaneous tumor bleeding. Introduction: The paragangliomas are mostly benign and more frequent in women. can be multiple, and these are considered as the most likely source of familial origin (30%-35%). The multicentric lesions can occur at different life stages not being necessarily simultaneous, a fact that prevents image exam research to be conclusive for tumor presence or absence. In this way the examination of the family members of patients, specially young ones, diagnosed with multicentric tumors may lead to negative results which doesn’t meant that the disease can be developed at a later time period. Therefore routine examination is not justifiable when symptoms relative to tumor presence are not present. case report: A female patient of 32 years old complaining of tinnitus and diagnosed with five paragangliomas (jugulo-timpanic, bilateral carotid body and bilateral brachiocephalic trunk) through imaging studies. She reported suffering relatives of paragangliomas. conclusion: The paper reports a rare case and perhaps unique in the literature, multiple paraganglioma with five locations and discusses difficult choice of treatment and complications.

Malignant Graves’Ophthalmopathy

Introduction: One of the most common causes of hyperthyroidism is Graves’ disease. The malignant exophthalmos is a rare condition characterized by the loss of visual function that doesn’t adequately respond to various forms of treatment, requiring, in most cases, surgical correction. Objective: We report a case of conjunctival edema and protrusion of the eyeball in patients secondary to Graves’ disease, characterizing malignant ophthalmopathy and discuss their surgical treatment. case Report: A 73-year-old male patient presenting bilateral conjunctive hyperaemia, decreased visual acuity, exophtalmos with progressive deterioration. Pulse therapy was performed without improvement and then underwent bilateral ethmoidectomy. Discussion: Late diagnosis is harmful due to the fact that malignant disease is extremely aggressive and fast, as reported in this case. Most often, the ophthalmopathy follows a relatively mild and self-limiting course, making a proper diagnosis difficult if the disease progresses. In extreme cases acute orbital decompression is indicated complementing appropriate medical treatment, which will allow herniation of orbital contents. Many orbital decompression techniques have been used in the treatment of Graves’ ophthalmopathy. The most common of these is the endoscopic sinus surgery which potentiated act in decompression of the medial wall safely and minimally invasive. In our case, open bilateral ethmoidectomy was used, due to the fact that surgeons are most experienced in this technique. Although the post-operative has been successfully submitted, no signs of recurrence were observed after fifteen days due to the evolution of Graves’ disease. Even with outpatient treatment, he walked to the total visual loss. conclusion: We observed that the malignant ophthalmopathy is rare and aggressive;however, in spite of therapeutic resources used, it can progress to total visual loss.

Organochlorine Pesticides in Infant Milk Formulas Marketed in the South of Mexico city

The nature of organochlorine pesticides (OcP) and their physical-chemical properties exert immediate action of control on live systems, which has justified their use in agricultural practices. Their long life makes them a persistent ecological aggressor and biomagnifier. They reach foods by biotic and abiotic means, and are absorbed and accumulate in adipose tissue. In lactation processes, they are excreted in milk through the mobilization of fats. Diverse studies have identified them as neurotoxic, affecting reproductive processes, altering the immunological response and act as endocrine disruptors. An analysis was made of the content of organochlorine pesticides in twenty-one samples of infant milk formulas marketed in the south of Mexico city in 2010. The determinations were made following the protocols of the International Dairy Federation, by means of gas chromatography with electron capture detector, and the majority presence was found of α-HcH (100%), β-HcH (95.2%), γ-HcH (90.5%), aldrin (85.7%), heptachlor (80.9%) and heptachlor epoxide (80.9%) with mean values of 0.24, 0.13, 0.32, 0.62, 0.92 and 0.18 μg/kg of fat, respectively;all below the limits permitted by the codex Alimentarius. With null or lower recurrence and in lowerquantities, the family of DDT, endrin, endrin aldehyde and the endosulphanes were quantified.

New Technique to Produce Large Amount of Flat Silk by Biospinning

Beyond the production of silk thread, there are several studies showing that the silk is a great biomaterial for surgical sutures and grafts. This paper shows a new technique to produce silk thread changing the natural cycle of silk production, which is the production of cocoons. This new method has the purpose of producing a silk fabric free of impurities, through flat surfaces. Six different surfaces were tested: Glass, Formica Surface, Steel and Zinc Sheets, cotton tissue and Burlap Bag. The first five surfaces had not presented enough larvae alive for statistical analysis, because there were several damages in silkworms larvae that resulted in mortality and low silk production. On the other hand, the burlap bag surface presented good results for web construction by biospinning and its use was indicated for silk industry focused on biomaterials. The present study suggested the potential of naturally biospun web, using Bombyx mori, to develop a new technique to produce silk thread matrices that will have several applications at the industry and production of biomedical materials.

This study presents the simulation of a MFc with Pseudomonas aeruginosa based on a metabolic flux analysis (MFA) which arises as a linear programming model that served as input for the fuel cell model. The linear model was implemented in Xpress MP? and the coupling model in comsol Multiphysics?. The in silico model predicted maximum potentials of 0.135 V which were consistent with those obtained in the experimental cell. Afterwards, an optimization platform based on multiobjective optimization approach was implemented aimed to determine genes that increase the average cell power. cysA, cysP and rpoS mutants which were predicted to increase the power of the cell, were experimentally tested with an air cathode fuel cell finding an augment up to 35-fold in the average power density for the rpoS mutant. Power densities were obtained through experimentation in the range of [0.13 - 5] mW/m2. Electron shuttle rise was qualitative corroborated trough cyclic voltammetry tests, which allowed to visualize the augment of the peaks for rpoS mutation.
