Background The pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2(SARS-coV-2)has had great effects on health systems worldwide,not only in relation to coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19)cases but also affecting patients with other *** EcIEN-2020 is an observational study conducted in a tertiary referral hospital in Navarra,*** describes the effects of cOVID-19 pandemic and the preventive measures adopted,in pediatric admissions for non-cOVID-19 *** during March-June 2020(first wave of the cOVID-19 pandemic in Spain)are described and compared with the same quarter in 2019.A sub-analysis was performed delving into *** characteristics(age,sex,past medical history),disease characteristics(symptoms,duration of symptoms,previous consultation in Primary care Health center),and admission characteristics(place and average stay)were *** A 33% reduction in the number of pediatric hospital admissions was observed,decreasing from 529 hospitaliza-tions in 2019 to 353 in 2020(Pction in patients admitted for pulmonary *** were no significant changes in average hospital-stay,percentage of intensive care unit admissions,or in admissions for other *** of patients admitted among those seen in the emergency department rose from 5.1%in 2019 to 10.9% in 2020,whereas the total number of consultations in the emergency department decreased by 68%.conclusion The pandemic and the measures adopted due to SARS-coV-2 have significantly decreased pediatric admissions for non-cOVID-19 diseases,especially due to a reduction in the hospitalization for respiratory diseases.

Poly（lactic acid）（PLA）-containing nerve guidance conduits（NGcs） are currently being investigated for nerve repair as an alternative to autograft, which leads to permanent functional impairment in the territory innervated by the removed nerve. combination of polymers modifies the physical properties of the conduits, altering their nerve-guidance properties. conduits made from PLA-only or combined with other polymers have been used successfully for nerve repair, but their efficiency has not been compared. We compared the morphological and functional outcomes of peripheral nerve repair by using NGcs made of poly（lactic acid） and combined or not with polycaprolactone（PLA/PcL） or polyvinylpyrrolidone（PLA/PVP）. To assess the functional recovery, we employed a mechanical hyperalgesia analysis, sciatic functional index（SFI）, and electroneuromyography. The mechanical hyperalgesia analysis showed that the PLA group improved more rapidly than the PLA/PVP and PLA/PcL groups; similarly, in the electroneuromyography assay, the PLA group exhibited higher amplitude than the PLA/PcL and PLA/PVP groups. However, the SFI improvement rates did not differ among the groups. Morphologically, the PLA group showed more vascularization, while the nerve fiber regeneration did not differ among the groups. In conclusion, the PLA-only conduits were superior to the other NGcs tested for nerve repair.

Salinity Tolerance in Argentinean Population of <i>Bromus catharticus</i>. Variability and Direct and Indirect Effects on Seedling characters

The aim of this research was to evaluate the salinity tolerance in prairie grass populations at the seedling stage quantifying the variability and the influence of physiological traits related to it. Salinity tolerance, in Bromus catharticus Vahl (prairie grass) populations collected in different environments of the Pampean Phytogeography region (Argentine) was evaluated at the seedling stage, using controlled condition of temperature and light. It was adopted a completely randomized design using 3 plots with three plants each one per population and two levels of treatment: 0 mM and 100 mM Nacl. Morphological, biomass and membrane stability root and shoot traits were studied. A factorial ANOVA with interaction was estimated. Then one way ANOVA for all seedling traits in both treatments allowed estimating variance components, coefficient of genotypic determination (cGD) and variation index (VI). comparisons between populations were made using Tukey test (at 5% of probability). Phenotypic correlations among traits were calculated and then a path coefficient analysis separated direct and indirect effects at 100 and 0 mM Nacl. No significant interactions “Population × Treatment” were found for any character. The saline stress caused a pairing in the population means for the most traits. coefficients of variation were mainly higher when the seedlings grew without stress (0 mM) because it allowed a greater potential genotypic expression. The absence of significant interactions denotes a good homeostatic capacity of the prairie grass facing that abiotic stress. Leaf length, shoot length and root dry matter were the variables with the largest direct and indirect effects. Provision of food and water is a widespread tool implemented around the world for the benefit of game and other wildlife,but factors affecting the use of food and water by non-target species are poorly *** evaluated visits to feeders and water troughs by non-game species using camera-traps in two separate areas of *** and water troughs were either“protected”(when surrounded by more than 50%of shrubs/forest)or“open”(in the opposite case).A total of 18948 photos from 5344 camera-trapping days depicted animals,and 75 species were *** and water troughs were visited by target species(partridges and lagomorphs,55.3%of visits)and non-target species(44.7%of visits).Among the latter,corvids were themost common(46.1%of visits),followed by rodents(26.8%),other birds(23.6%,mainly passerines),columbids(1.9%),and other species at minor *** highest proportion of visiting days to feeders and water troughs was from corvids(0.173)followed by otherbirds(0.109)and rodents(0.083);the lowest proportion was recorded for columbids(0.016).Use intensity and visit frequency of water troughs tripled that recorded in feeders,and visits to open feeders/troughs were approximately twice those to protected *** summary:feeders and water troughs targeting small game species are also used regularly by non-target ones;they should be set close to cover to optimize their use by non-target species that are not competitors of target species(though corvids may visit them);water availability should be prioritized where drought periods are expected.

Plastidial ω-3 desaturase FAD7 is a major contributor to trienoic fatty acid biosynthesis in the leaves of Arabidopsis plants. However, the precise contribution of the other plastidial ω-3 desaturase, FAD8, is poorly understood. Fatty acid and lipid analysis of several ω-3 desaturase mutants, including two insertion lines of AtFAD7 and AtFAD8, showed that FAD8 partially compensated the disruption of the AtFAD7 gene at 22℃, indicating that FAD8 was active at this growth temperature, contrasting to previous observations that circumscribed the FAD8 activity at low temperatures. Our data revealed that FAD8 had a higher selectivity for 18：2 acyl-lipid substrates and a higher preference for lipids other than galactolipids, particularly phosphatidylglycerol, at any of the temperatures studied. Differences in the mechanism controlling AtFAD7 and AtFAD8 gene expression at different temperatures were also detected. confocal microscopy and biochemical analysis of FAD8-YFP over-expressing lines confirmed the chloroplast envelope localization of FAD8. co-localization experiments suggested that FAD8 and FAD7 might be located in close vicinity in the envelope membrane. FAD8-YFP over-expressing lines showed a specific increase in 18：3 fatty acids at 22℃. Together, these results indicate that the function of both plastidial ω-3 desaturases is coordinated in a non-redundant manner.
