Modelling the dynamics of stock market in the gulf cooperation council countries:evidence on persistence to shocks

This study examines the statistical properties required to model the dynamics of both the returns and volatility series of the daily stock market returns in six Gulf Cooperation Council countries,namely Bahrain,Oman,Kuwait,Qatar,Saudi Arabia,and the United Arab Emirates,under different financial and economic *** empiri-cal investigation is conducted using daily data from June 1,2005 to July 1,*** analysis is conducted using a set of double long-memory specifications with some significant features such as long-range dependencies,asymmetries in conditional variances,non-linearity,and multiple seasonality or time-varying *** study indicates that the joint dual long-memory process can adequately estimate long-memory dynamics in returns and *** in-sample diagnostic tests as well as out-of-sample forecasting results demonstrate the prevalence of the Autoregressive Fractionally Integrated Moving Average and Hyperbolic Asymmetric Power Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity modeling process over other competing models in fitting the first and the second conditional moments of the market ***,the empirical results show that the proposed model offers an interesting framework to describe the long-range dependence in returns and seasonal persistence to shocks in conditional volatility and strongly support the estimation of dynamic returns that allow for time-varying correlations.A noteworthy finding is that the long-memory dependencies in the conditional variance processes of stock market returns appear important,asymmetric,and differ in their volatility responses to unexpected *** evidence suggests that these markets are not completely efficient in processing regional news,thus providing a sound alternative for regional portfolio diversification.

Background:Mucopolysaccharidoses type Ⅲ (MPS Ⅲ) are a group of autosomai recessive lysosomal storage diseases,caused by mutations in genes that code for enzymes involved in the lysosomal degradation of heparan sulphate:heparan sulfate sulfamidase (SGSH),a-N-acetylglucosaminidase (NAGLU),heparan sulfate acetyl-CoA:a-glucosaminide N-acetyltransferase (HGSNAT),and N-acetylglucosamine-6-sulfatase (GNS).Methods:In this study,we have performed the molecular analysis of the SGSH,NAGLU and HGSNAT genes in 10 patients from 6 different MPS Ⅲ Tunisian ***:In the SGSH gene,two mutations were identified:one novel (p.D477N) and one already described (p.Q365X).In the NAGLU gene,two novel mutations were discovered (p.L550P and p.E153X).For the novel missense mutations found in these two genes we performed an in silico structural analysis and the results were consistent with the clinical course of the patients harboring those ***,in HGSNAT gene,we found the splicesite mutation c.234+1G>A that had already been reported as relatively frequent in MPS ⅢC patients from countries surrounding the basin of the Mediterranean *** presence in two Tunisian MPS ⅢC families points to the hypothesis of its peri Mediterranean *** the exception of the c.234+1G>A mutation,that was identified in two unrelated MPS ⅢC families,the other identified mutations were family-specific and were always found in homozygosity in the patients studied,thus reflecting the existence of consanguinity in MPS Ⅲ Tunisian ***:Three novel mutations are reported here,further contributing to the knowledge of the molecular basis of these *** results of this study will allow carrier detection in affected families and prenatal molecular diagnosis,leading to an improvement in genetic counseling.

This work aims at studying the effect of hygrothermal and UV cyclic aging on the tensile properties and esthetic characteristics of non-woven *** composite materials were thermo-compressed from non-woven mats made up of PP and flax or kenaf *** works included evaluating the change in color appearance and analyzing the variations in tensile properties and damage mechanisms,depending on the aging *** presence of the UV protection film on the composite surface showed its effectiveness against *** visual observations and measurement of colorimetric parameters,it has been proved effective in the reduction of the bleaching and yellowing of the *** regards the tensile tests,the UV protection film enabled to stabilize the Young’s modulus after 1-week aging for Kenaf/PP and after 3-weeks for Flax/*** 4-weeks aging,it halved the number of acoustic emission events related to interfacial decohesion and fiber slippage/pull out for Flax/PP and Kenaf/PP composites.

Context Aware Wireless Sensor Network Suitable for Precision Agriculture

Using the Wireless Sensor Networks WSNs in a wide variety of applications is currently considered one of the most challenging solutions. For instance, this technology has evolved the agriculture field, with the precision agriculture challenge. In fact, the cost of sensors and communication infrastructure continuously trend down as long as the technological advances. So, more growers dare to implement WSN for their crops. This technology has drawn substantial interests by improving agriculture productivity. The idea consists of deploying a number of sensors in a given agricultural parcel in order to monitor the land and crop conditions. These readings help the farmer to make the right inputs at the right moment. In this paper, we propose a complete solution for gathering different type of data from variable fields of a large agricultural parcel. In fact, with the in-field variability, adopting a unique data gathering solution for all kinds of fields reveals an inconvenient approach. Besides, as a fault-tolerant application, precision agriculture does not require a high precision value of sensed data. So, our approach deals with a context aware data gathering strategy. In other words, depending on a defined context for the monitored field, the data collector will decide the data gathering strategy to follow. We prove that this approach improves considerably the lifetime of the application.

AIM: To investigate the benefits of insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) supplementation to serum-free institut georges lopez-1 (IGL-1) solution to protect fatty liver against cold ischemia reperfusion injury. METHODS: Steatotic livers were preserved for 24 h in IGL-1  solution supplemented with or without IGF-1 and then perfused "ex vivo " for 2 h at 37℃. We examined the effects of IGF-1 on hepatic damage and function (transaminases, percentage of sulfobromophthalein clearance in bile and vascular resistance). We also studied other factors associated with the poor tolerance of fatty livers to cold ischemia reperfusion injury such as mitochondrial damage, oxidative stress, nitric oxide, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and mitogen-activated protein ***: Steatotic livers preserved in IGL-1 solutionsupplemented with IGF-1 showed lower transaminase levels, increased bile clearance and a reduction in vascular resistance when compared to those preserved in IGL-1solution alone. These benefits are mediated by activation of AKT and constitutive endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), as well as the inhibition of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α. Mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress were also ***: IGL-1  enrichment with IGF-1 increasedfatty liver graft preservation through AKT and eNOS activation, and prevented TNF-α release during normothermic reperfusion.

A Thermo-Mechanical Behavior Simulation of A NiTi Staple Used for the Correction of Idiopathic Scoliosis

In order to treat scoliosis, a thermo-mechanical behavior study of shape memory alloy bone staple has been proposed. A pre-stretched shape-memory-alloy bone staple, which has been heated above the transition temperature, provides greater compressive force upon insertion between two vertebrae and allows the control of idiopathic scoliosis development. Until now, the optimal design has not been reached due to the lack of appropriate design tools for shape memory alloy devices. In this paper, a shape memory alloy bone staple model is proposed by developing a user subroutine UMAT based on Boyd et al. unified thermodynamic shape memory alloy constitutive law using the finite element analysis software, ABAQUS. The numerical results for superelastic and shape memory effect under the tensile and three-point bending tests are presented. Simulations of the shape memory effects and force generation of the shape memory alloy staple are also shown.

A finite element modeling of the human lumbar unit including the spinal cord

The purpose of this present work is to provide a tool to better understand mechanically related pathologies of the lumbar unit and the spinal structure by providing spinal cord deformations in different loading cases. In fact, spinal cord injury (SCI) resulting from a traumatic movement leades to a deformation of the neural and vascular structure of the spinal cord. And since the magnitude of the spinal cord stress is correlated with the pressure of the vertebral elements, stresses will be computed on all theses components. Physical properties of the vertebrae, various ligaments, the discs, and the spinal cord are described under simple loading as compression, and combined loading, flexion and lateral bending to evaluate the pressure undergone by different components of the lumbar unit. A nonlinear three-dimensional finite element method is used as a numerical tool to perform all the computations. This study provides accurate results for the localisation and the magnitude of maximum equivalent stress and shear stress on the lumbar unit and especially for the spinal cord. These results showed that stresses are more important when a compression of 500 N is combined with a flexion and a lateral bending. In particular, shear stresses are maximum for the spinal cord and the four intervertebral discs for the case of a flexion of 3.8 N.m and a lateral bending of 6.5 N.m.
