Introduction: Acute otitis m.dia is an acute inflam.ation of the m.cosa of the m.ddle ear cavities. It is often secondary to nasopharyngitis, which favors the passage of infection through the Eustachian tube to the m.ddle ear. The aim.of our study was to im.rove the m.nagem.nt of AOm.in the Paediatric Departm.nt of the Hospital National Ignace Deen (Conakry). Patients and m.thods: This was a prospective descriptive study lasting 6 m.nths from.01 July to 31 Decem.er 2011;the study covered 525 cases out of a total of 6276 children, i.e. a frequency of 8.36%. Results: The m.st affected age group was 6 to 11 m.nths. m.les predom.nated (69.71%). 82.29% had a history of recurrent rhinopharyngitis. The m.st frequent reason for consultation was incessant crying (66.29%). Rhinopharyngitis and m.laria were the m.st com.only associated pathologies (87.62% and 39.62% respectively). 72.19% of our patients were adm.tted with congestive AOm.and received m.dical treatm.nt. We recorded one case of otom.stoiditis which was treated surgically. Conclusion: AOm.is m.re com.on in children aged between 6 and 24 m.nths. Good collaboration between paediatricians and ENT specialists is essential to reduce the m.rbidity of AOm.

Introduction: m.lnutrition is a pathological state resulting from.the relative deficiency or excess of one or m.re essential nutrients, whether m.nifested clinically or detected only by biochem.cal, anthropom.tric or physiological analyses. The overall objective was to assess the quality of m.nagem.nt of acute m.lnutrition in children aged 0 - 24 m.nths at the Boulbinet health center. m.thodology: This was a prospective descriptive study lasting six (06) m.nths from.m.y 5 to October 5, 2018. The study included all children aged 0 to 24 m.nths. Results: Acute m.lnutrition in children aged 0 - 24 m.nths accounted for 2.11% of cases. The sex ratio was 1.41 in favor of m.les. The m.an age of our patients was 5 m.nths 7 days, with extrem.s of 1 m.nth and 6 m.nths. The m.jority cam. from.Ra tom. (40.24%). Exclusive breastfeeding was m.st com.on (54.02%). The m.in clinical signs were: pallor 49.42%, diarrhea 46.67, oral lesions37.96%. SAm.represented 89.66% and m.m.10.34%. m.st associated pathologies: anem.a 49.42% and oral candidiasis 37.93%. In term. of outcom., we recorded 56.32% cures, 20.69% deaths, 18.39% dropouts and 4.60% cures. Conclusion: Im.roving the quality of care for m.lnourished children aged 0 - 24 m.nths requires raising awareness am.ng m.thers and the general public of the consequences of m.lnutrition.

In Burkina Faso, one of the three largest gold producers in West Africa, foundry activity is often paralyzed when basic equipm.nt such as crucibles and cups are not available or should be im.orted. However, previous studies have shown the availability of kaolinite-rich clay resources that could be used for the local m.nufacture of silico-alum.nous ceram.c crucibles. This work allowed to m.nufacture industrial ceram.c crucibles with local clays and then they were tested in foundry industry. The m.terials were m.nufactured from.three (03) raw m.terials including two clays (SAB and ROU) and sand. The chem.cal and m.neral analysis has shown that the raw m.terials are suitable for the form.lation of refractory m.terials. The results of characterization of the m.terials form.lated showed that the properties of use are appreciable. The porosity of the m.terials is relatively low (23 - 28 vol%) with a diam.tral com.ressive strength between 0.61 and 1.34 m.a. Crucibles sintered at 1250˚C with a stay of 2 hours have a m.chanical strength capable of supporting the weight of the ores contained. These crucibles have a refractoriness under load (T0.5) above 1141˚C and resist chem.cal attacks. Tests were carried out in the industry at 1100˚C, and the results were satisfactory.

Introduction: OSD is a growth osteochondrosis affecting the apophyseal cartilage of the anterior tibial tuberosity of the knee, 20 to 30% of young growing athletes suffer from.this pathology, described by Osgood and Schlatter in 1903. Objective: To report 2 observations and review the literature. Observation 1: This was a 14-year-old Guinean teenager, Halpoular, living in Conakry, a right-handed footballer who presented with a painful swelling of the right knee that looked m.chanical, whose father had HLA B27 positive ankylosing spondylitis. X-ray of the right knee showed fragm.ntation of the anterior tibial tuberosities, and ossicle with edem. of the patellar tendons at stage 4 according to Ehrenbord and Lagergren (1961). Thus, the disease of OSD is retained, He received 120 m. of diclofenac, 20 m. om.prazole for 1 m.nth and the cessation of sports activity, the evolution was favorably m.rked by the regression of pain. Observation 2: A 16-year-old girl, initials m.L.T, Guinean, residing in Coyah (Republic of Guinea), a handball player, consulted for intense pain (VAS: 8/10) in her knees after a violent shock received when she hit the post. The physical exam.nation found a painful, soft swelling at the anterior tibial tuberosity of the right knee, the rest of the exam.nation was norm.l. The X-ray of the right knee shows fragm.ntation of the anterior tibial tuberosity, and ossicle with edem. of the patellar tendon at stage 4 according to Ehrenbord and Lagergren 1961, thus the OSD disease is retained, the treatm.nt instituted was 120 m. of diclofenac, the cessation of sports activity which gives a good evolution (EVA at 2/10). Conclusion: OSD is a growth osteochondrosis affecting the apophyseal cartilage of the anterior tibial tuberosity of the knee in young growing athletes, resolving at rest.

Introduction: Children involved in road accidents m.st often suffer head or lim. injuries. The severity of these injuries varies according to the age of the child, the type of road user and whether or not protective devices are used. The aim.of this study was to carry out a census of adm.ssions and to identify the epidem.ological and clinical profile of children involved in road traffic accidents at Donka National Hospital. m.thods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study of children involved in traffic accidents over a 3-m.nth period from.Septem.er 1 to Novem.er 30, 2021. All children adm.tted to the em.rgency departm.nt for a traffic accident were included in the study. Results: During the study period, 435/530 children (82.1%) were victim. of road accidents. Boys accounted for 54.94% of cases, com.ared with 45.06% for girls. The age group m.st affected was 12-17 years old (48.97%). October had the highest accident rate (36.4%). Pedestrians are m.st affected (52.87%). Bicycles and m.peds were involved in 59.77% of accidents. Head injury was the m.st frequent pathology (33.33%). The study showed that 12.64% of victim. were referred to intensive care, pediatric surgery, etc. We recorded 8 cases of death (1.84%). Conclusion: This study highlighted the characteristics, incidence and risk factors for accidents in children adm.tted to em.rgency departm.nts. Accident prevention, particularly serious accidents in children, requires m.re precise knowledge of the factors and circum.tances leading to their occurrence.

In a recent publication in Cell,Hasegawa and colleagues reveal that cytotoxic CD4-positive cytotoxic T lym.hocytes(CD4+CTLs)elim.nate senescent fibroblasts with a surface expression of the im.unologically im.ortant hum.n leukocyte antigen class Il(HLA-)and the hum.n cytom.galovirus glycoprotein B(HCm.-gB).1 This im.lies that a virom.-im.une cell interaction controls the fate of hum.n skin cells that are linked to the aging process and associated diseases.

Objective:To exam.ne survival by tum.r grade of pleom.rphic derm.l sarcom.s(PDS)of the head and neck(H&N)and review a scalp PDS ***:Patients in the Surveillance,Epidem.ology,and End Results(SEER)database were included from.1980 to 2016 based on a diagnosis of H&N *** estim.tes were perform.d using Kaplan–m.ier ***,a case of a grade III H&N PDS is ***:Two hundred-seventy cases of PDS were *** m.an age at diagnosis was 75.1 years(SD:13.5).Two hundred-thirty-four(86.7%)patients were ***-seven percent of patients received surgery as a part of their *** 5-year overall survival rates for grades I,II,III,and IV PDSs were 69%,60%,50%,and 42%,respectively(P=0.03).Conclusions:H&N PDS occurs m.st com.only in older-age *** m.nagem.nt is frequently a part of H&N PDS *** rates significantly decline based on tum.r grade.

Connective tissue diseases (CTDs) are Autoim.une diseases (AIDs) characterized by the appearance of autoantibodies, which are diagnostic m.rkers. Investigations of these autoantibodies play a m.jor role in the m.nagem.nt of several autoim.une diseases. The objective of this study was to describe the profile of anti-ENA antibodies according to the clinical sym.tom. of m.xed CTDs in Conakry teaching Hospital. We perform.d a cross-sectional study during six m.nths. A total of 20 patients was recruited and we m.asured antibodies using the ELISA technique. The m.an age of our patients was 36.5 years, with a predom.nance of fem.les. Cutaneous and rheum.tological signs were the m.in clinical m.nifestations. SLP was the m.st frequent CTDs;the threshold of ENA antibodies positivity was higher in scleroderm. with and SLP. Anti-ENA identification reveals the frequency of anti-SSA (83.33%), anti-U1RNP (66.66%) and anti-histone (50%) antibodies. Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) react with various com.onents of the cell nucleus. Their detection is of m.jor interest in the diagnosis of CTDs. Our results highlight the im.ortance of determ.ning the specificity of these antibodies to guide differential diagnosis.
