Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) is the substrate often used in scanningtunneling Ancroscopy (STM). It is well known that STM images of the basal plane of HOPG showsome unusual structUral patterns. In this letter, we present in situ STM images of some unusualfeatures on HOPG in solutions, including normal or abnormal chain-like featUres and hexagonal oroblique superPeriodic structures. These features emerge both next to and apart from the step ofHOPG.

This paper reports the use of an electrochemically polymerized Toluidine Blue (TB) film *** film on platinum electrode surface was analyzed with *** heterogeneous electron transfer processes of myoglobin at the polymerized TB film electrode have been investigated using in situ UV-visible *** formal potential(E°′)and electron transfer number(n)of myoglobin were calculated as E°′=0.045 V(***)and n=*** exhaustive reduction and oxidation electrolyses are achieved in 130 s and 110 s respectively,during a potential step between-0.4 V and+0.4 V.A formal heterogeneous electron transfer rate constant(ksh)of 1.09× 10^(-4) cm/s and a transfer coefficient(α)of 0.47 were obtained by cyclic voltabsorptometry,which indicated that myoglobin underwent a quasi-reversible electrode process at the polymerized TB film electrode.

Valence of elements in HgBa2Can-1Cu_nO2n+2+δ（n=1, 2, 3, 4）（both argon and oxygen annealed samples） were calculated. The result indicated for both argon and oxygen annealed samples, Hg had the lowest valence for the highest Tc sample. For fixed n, the valence of Cu in oxygen annealed samples was larger than that in argon annealed samples, indicating that oxygen annealed samples produce more carriers than argon annealed samples.

Dear Editor,Primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL) is a rare subtype of aggressive B cell lymphoma, accounting for 2%to 4%of total non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma(NHL) cases (Savage, 2022). Genomic rearrangements (e.g., isochromosome9p) and copy-number alterations at9p24.1 loci, which contain the genes encoding programmed death-ligand 1/2(PDL1/2) and JAK2, lead to the overexpression of these genes in PMBCL,distinguishing PMBCL from diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)(Green et al.,2010). Recent thymic single-cell gene profiling has advanced our understanding of the presence and functions of B cells in the thymus (Afzali et al., 2024). However,the etiology of thymic B cell-derived PMBCL and its cellular microenvironment remain unknown. In this study, from a single-cell perspective, we compared the single-cell profiles of PMBCL with those of DLBCL and normal lymph nodes (NLNs),and discovered a unique phenotype of PMBCL-associated malignant plasma cells.

X-ray crystal structures of 2,2',3,3'-and 3, 3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (2,2',3,3'- and 3,3',4,4'-BPDA) were determined. The dianhydride isomers have different symmetry caused by difference in two anhydride group positions and the dihedral angles between the two phenyl rings are 62.9°for 2,2',3,3',-BPDA and 0°for 3,3',4,4'-BPDA respectively. The polyimides from 2,2',3,3'-BPDA exhibit enhanced solubility, higher thermal stability, and higher glasstransition temperature (Tg) compared with those from 3,3',4,4'-BPDA.

The extraction equilibrium of cerium(IV) and fluorine (I) from H2SO4 solution by Cyanex 923 is studied. The extraction mechanism of Ce(IV) and F(I) by Cyanex 923 is determined by the method of slope analysis. The results show that Cyanex 923 can extract HF as HF·L and Ce4+ together with HF as Ce(HF)(HSO4)2(SO4)·2L by which HF comes into the organic phase mainly when there is Ce4+ in the solution, where L is the extractant. Temperature does not affect the extraction. The IR spectra of purified Cyanex 923 saturated with Ce(IV) and HF are discussed.
