Water retention behavior and shear strength of artificially cemented granite residual soil subjected to free drying

Artificially cemented soils have been widely used as filling materials in highway and railway *** shear strength evolution of filling materials upon moist variation can determine the stability of subgrade and *** study conducted water retention tests,MIP tests,and multi-stage triaxial shear tests on cement-treated granite residual soil(GRS)to determine its water retention curve(WRC)upon free drying,pore structure,and peak shear strength qf,*** water retention behavior and shear strength evolution upon free drying were modeled based on the dual-porosity structure of cement-treated GRS and the effective stress principle,*** show that the drying-WRC is bimodal and higher cement dosage yields a more severe decrease in the water retention capacity within a specific suction *** a given confining pressure,the peak shear strength qf increased with increasing cement dosage or suction value *** peak shear strength qf also solely depends on the suction value in the peak stress *** addition,the cement-treated GRS has a bimodal pore size distribution curve,and its macro-and micro-void ratios remain almost unchanged after free *** bimodal drying-WRC of the cement-treated GRS can be modeled by differentiating the water retention mechanisms in macro-and ***,using the macro-pore degree of saturation as the effective stress parameterχ=S_(rM),the q_(f)–p′_(f)relationship(where p′_(f)is the effective mean pressure at failure)under various suction and stress conditions can be unified,and the q_(f)–s relationships at various net confining pressuresσ_(3),net can be well *** findings can help design subgrade and embankments constructed by artificially cemented GRS and assess their safe operation upon climate change.

Considerable research efforts have been devoted to increase phosphorus(P)availability during aerobic ***,there is little discussion weather the dissolved organic carbon(DOC)controls the transformation among ***,we investigated the changes in DOC compositions and P-fractions during biochar-amended composting(wet weight basis,5%and 10%).TP content continuously increased since the'concentration effect'during aerobic ***_(3)-Pi,NaOH-Pi and HCl-Pi were main P-fractions,and biochar can improve P-bioavailability by transforming NaOH-Pi and HCl-Pi into NaHCO_(3)-*** equation models(SEMs)indicated that biochar enhanced the P-bioavailability through regulating the decomposition of *** results at least hint that the activation mechanism on P under the influence of DOC during biochar-amended composting.

Improved corrosion resistance of dental Ti50Zr alloy with(TiZr)N coating in fluoridated acidic artificial saliva

The electrochemical corrosion behavior of the dental Ti50 Zr alloy with and without nanocrystalline(TiZr)N coating was comparatively investigated in artificial saliva solutions with different pH values and fluoride ion concentrations. The chemical stability of the passive films on the coated and non-coated Ti50 Zr alloy was evaluated by calculating passive film thickness. The chemical compositions and valence structures of the passive films were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The results show that the(TiZr)N-coated alloy displays distinctly decreased corrosion rate and increased impedance compared with Ti50 Zr alloy in nonfluoridated and fluoridated acidic solutions. Particularly, in the solution of pH = 3.9 and 0.15% NaF-containing, the corrosion protection efficiency of(TiZr)N coating reaches90%. The excellent corrosion resistance of the coated alloy is attributed to that the nanocrystallines in(TiZr)N coating decreases micropores and crack defects, which strongly impedes the corrosive ions diffusion and electrode process at Ti substrate/coating interface. Meanwhile,(TiZr)N coating shows good passivation behavior in acidic solution and active–passive transition behavior in fluoridated acidic solution. The coated Ti50 Zr alloy with high chemical stability has potential application prospect for dental implants.

Effect of Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Property of Al-Sn-Pb Bearing Material

AlSn8Pb2Si2.5Cu0.8Cr0.2 is a bush material with high hardness, and the main elements tin and plumbum mainly exist along the grain boundary, resulting in bad plasticity and confectioning. It is found that the continuous tin and lead distributing along grain boundary are broken by cold-rolling, and their shape is spheroidized and uniform through annealing at constant temperature. The continuous precipitated phase composed of tin and lead doesn＇t exist along grain boundary. The properties of bush material are greatly increased.

Interfacial Microstructure of Al-Sn-Pb Alloy/Steel During Liquid-Solid Bonding Rolling

Studies were conducted on the interfacial microstructure of a steel/liquid aluminium and its evolution during the bonding rolling process. The effects of wetting time and deformation on the diffusion layer and on the bonding strength were examined. By means of electron microscopy and electron probe analysis, it was found that the diffusion layer is mainly composed of FeAI3. For a steel temperature of 250℃ and an aluminium temperature of 850 ~C, the diffusion layer was formed within 3 s, and the shear strength of the samples increased after 8 to 14 s. Although the interface was not damaged, it was deformed notably. For an aluminium temperature of 750℃ and a wetting time of 11 to 17 s, the shear strength of the interface remained high, but the interface was obviously broken during rolling, leading to reduced bonding strength.

Detection of Cholangiocarcinoma with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and Radial Basis Function Neural Network Classification

The aim of this study was to explore the possibility of applying Fourier transform infrared（FTIR） spec- troscopy as a medical diagnostic toot based on a neural network classifier for detecting and classifying cholangiocar- cinoma. A total of 51 cases of bile duct tissues were obtained and later characterized by FTIR spectroscopy prior to pathological diagnosis. The criteria for classification included 30 parameters for each FTIR spectra, including peak position（P）, intensity（/） and full width at half-maximum（FWHM）, were measured, calculated and subsequently com- pared against the normal and cancer groups. The FTIR spectra were classified by the radial basis function（RBF） net- work model. For establishing the RBF, 23 cases were used to train the RBF classifier, and 28 cases were applied to validate the model. Using the RFB model, nine parameters were observed to be pronouncedly different between can- cerous and normal tissue, including I1640, I1550, 11460,/1400, I1250, I1120,/10g0, Ii040 and P1040. In the RBF training classi- fication, the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of diagnosis were 82.6%, 80.0%, and 84.6%, respectively. While validating the classification, the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of diagnosis were 78.6%, 75.0%, and 81.2%, respectively. The results suggest that FTIR spectroscopy combined with neural network classifier could be applied as a medical diagnostic tool in cholangiocarcinoma diagnosis.

A Nonmonotone Line Search Based Algorithm for Distribution Center Location Selected

The minimax optimization model introduced in this paper is an important model which has received some attention over the past years. In this paper, the application of minimax model on how to select the distribution center location is first introduced. Then a new algorithm with nonmonotone line search to solve the non-decomposable minimax optimization is proposed. We prove that the new algorithm is global Convergent. Numerical results show the proposed algorithm is effective.

Antitumor and antimicrobial activities of endophytic fungi from medicinal parts of Aquilaria sinensis

The purpose of this study was to isolate and characterize endophytic fungi from the stem tissue which can produce fragrant ingredients in Aquilaria sinensis(also called agarwood) to determine their antitumor and antimicrobial ***-eight fungal endophytes were isolated from agarwood by strict sterile sample preparation and were classified into 14 genera and 4 taxonomic classes(Sordariomycetes,Dothideomycetes,Saccharomycetes,and Zy-gomycetes) based on molecular *** the 28 isolates,13(46.4%) showed antimicrobial activity against at least one of the test strains by the agar well diffusion method,and 23 isolates(82.1%) displayed antitumor activity against at least one of five cancer cell lines by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) *** diameters of inhibition zones of YNAS07,YNAS14,HNAS04,HNAS05,HNAS08,and HNAS11 were equal to or higher than 14.0 mm against Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,Bacillus subtilis,***,Aspergillus fumigatus,and ***,*** inhibition rates of YNAS06,YNAS08,and HNAS06 were not less than 60% to 293-T,293-T,and SKVO3 cells,*** results suggest that the endophytic fungi associated with agarwood will provide us with not only useful micro-ecological information,but also potential antimicrobial and anti-tumor agents.
