Antiplatelet therapy, which reduces platelet activation and aggregation, is the corner stone of treatment for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Clopidogrel is an established oral antiplatelet medication of thienopyridine class, which inhibits blood clots in coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease. Many studies have revealed that high loading dose clopidogrel in patients undergoing PCI. This review article investigates the rationale and role of high loading dose clopidogrel in patients undergoing PCI.

The disposal of MsW （municipal solid waste）, in most of Indian cities, is to dump on nearby low laying lands. This investigation aims to characterize MsW and assess compaction characteristics and strength properties of contaminated soils at dumping sites in two cities Chickballapur and Kolar of Karnataka, India. Representative solid wastes from selected wards of the city were collected and analyzed. substantial release of leachate form the dump yards occurred during past few years and the soil at the dump site experience extensive contamination. The test results of contaminated and uncontaminated soil show increase in optimum moisture content and decrease in maximum dry density. The unconfined compressive strength decreased considerably for soil samples obtained at 0.0 m, 0.5 m and 1.0 m depths below waste dump. At depths greater than 1.5 m, compaction characteristics and unconfined compressive strength closely match with the uncontaminated soil. Little variation in pH value, which makes soil slightly alkaline, was observed. From the study, it is inferred that, this investigation is very significant, as the foundation normally at these depths may be affected by this contamination.

Geopolymers are inorganic adhesive synthesized from industrial waste such as fly ash thus the development of wood geopolymer composite would be a low carbon footprint ***,being a non-formaldehyde adhesive can be used as an alternative binder for wood based composites where environmentally friendly and sustainability of product is *** this study flyash as precursor is been used in the development of wood geopolymer composite *** is activated with a combination of sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate solutions at a weight ratio of 1:2.5 for geopolymer *** study investigated the properties of wood geopolymer composite made with ratios of wood particle to flyash percentage(23/77),(37/62),(44/55),(50/50)and(57/43).Geopolymer formation was observed by X-ray Diffraction(XRD)and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).Influence of wood particles in wood geopolymer composite were observed by scanning electron *** study shows that the water absorption and thickness selling properties of all the formulations of wood geopolymer composites are comparable with the medium density particle board and cement-bonded particleboard according to the Is:3087-2005 standard and Is:12406:*** mechanical properties and good bond strength was obtained by the composite containing 23%wood particle ratio with 77%percent ***,still improvement in mechanical properties is needed to achieve the mechanical properties comparable to cement bonded particle board.

Penetrative Bénard-Maranagoni convection in micropolar ferromagnetic fluid layer in the presence of a uniform vertical magnetic field has been investigated via internal heating model. The lower boundary is considered to be rigid at constant temperature, while the upper boundary free open to the atmosphere is flat and subject to a convective surface boundary condition. The resulting eigenvalue problem is solved numerically by Galerkin method. The stability of the system is found to be dependent on the dimensionless internal heat source strength Ns, magnetic parameter M1, the non-linearity of magnetization parameter M3, coupling parameter N1, spin diffusion parameter N3 and micropolar heat conduction parameter N5. The results show that the onset of ferroconvection is delayed with an increase in N1 and N5 but hastens the onset of ferroconvection with an increase in M1, M3, N3 and Ns. The dimension of ferroconvection cells increases when there is an increase in M3, N1, N5 and Ns and decrease in M1 and N3.

Background: Multidrug resistant tuberculosis is a global threat. Effective treatment is implemented as per RNTCP guidelines. But the drugs used have great potential to develop adverse drug reactions. such drug reactions if not managed optimally can lead to unfavourable treatment outcome. Hence, the study is to know the occurrence of adverse drug reactions. Aims: To study the occurrence of adverse drug reactions in treatment of multidrug resistant tuberculosis and hence the factors affecting the treatment. settings and Design: Retrospective analysis of patients treated with standardised regimen for MDR-TB, as per RNTCP guidelines at a tertiary chest institute between august 2011 and December 2014. Methods and Material: Retrospective analysis of 607 patients’ records reviewed for the occurrence of adverse drug reactions. All adverse reactions are noted and diagnosed either clinically or by laboratory evidence. Results: Among the 607 patients included in the study, majority had one or more adverse drug reactions. The most common was gastritis (71.7%), which was easily treatable, and the least common was visual impairment (0.2%). Only 1.7% discontinued the treatment citing adverse drug reactions and 10.5% required permanent discontinuation of the offending drug. Conclusion: Treatment of MDR-TB is challenging mainly due to the long duration of treatment and the potential adverse reactions of the drugs used. These reactions are frequent but majority of them can be successfully managed without treatment interruption. Training the peripheral health centre workers to identify and refer the patients with adverse reaction bears a major impact on treatment outcome.

Investigations on malaria outbreaks and role of sibling species complex of principal rural malaria vector Anopheles culicifacies were carried out in villages in north Karnataka, India from 1997 through 2014. Information regarding densities, resting and breeding habitats of malaria vectors prevalent in the area was also generated so as to formulate an appropriate vector control strategy. The slide Positivity Rate (sPR), slide Falciparum Rate (sFR) and Pf proportion was 43.1%, 35.9% and 83.3%, respectively. Three sibling species A, B, and C of An. culicifacies were found sympatric with cumulative percent composition of 63.7, 28.2 and 8.1, respectively. Per man hour and per structure densities of An. culicifacies, An. culicifacies and An. culicifacies varied from 0 to 27.5 and 0 to 56.0, 0 to 0.5 and 0 to 7.0 and, 0 to 2.5 and 0 to 7.5, respectively. The proportion of semi-gravid and gravid females was more as compared to fully fed and unfed females which indicated that most of the females rested indoor. streams/river, wells, seepages and irrigation tanks are the major habitats supporting breeding of An. culicifacies. Integrated vector managements by indoor residual spraying of effective insecticide as per national guidelines along with biological control methods especially use of larvivorous fish Gambusia affinis and Poecilia reticulate are suggested to control malaria in the area.

＜正＞single walled carbon nanotubes （sWNTs） can be viewed as tubes formed by the conformal mapping of graphite strips onto cylindrical surfaces. When stacked in bundles, these tubes form a two dimensional triangular lattice. In addition to many interesting and useful physical properties1 of sWNTs, these have been predicted to have remarkable mechanical resilience, such as reversible bending of isolated tubes to -110° 2. Recently several high pressure Raman studies have been carried out to understand the behaviour under high pressure. Based on these studies, existence of a structural phase transformation at 1.7 GPa3 and polygonization of tubes at - 2.5 GPa4 has been suggested. Another Raman investigation indicates a reversible phase transformation at 10 GPa5. To investigate the nature of structural changes under pressure, we have carried out in-situ high pressure x-ray diffraction study on sWNTs up to 13 GPa. These experiments were carried out at the sPrings synchrotron facility. Observed variation of the d-spacings as a function of pressure is shown in Fig. 1. Vanishing of the strongest and only recorded diffraction line （100） of the sWNTs show that the carbon nanotube bundles loose the triangular translational order beyond 10 GPa. However, before losing its translational coherence, the two-dimensional lattice softens substantially as is displayed by an upward jump of dioo of sWNTs in Fig. 1. This is rationalizable in terms of the formation of heterogeneous fins like structures, which may help reduce the average basal strain. These results also provide an explanation for the unusual downward jump of tangential mode of the Raman results at this pressure.5 On release of pressure, the tubes regain the triangular lattice structure. These experimental observations validate the predicted remarkable mechanical resilience of the carbon nanotubes. Our data, which represents hydrostatic environment, gives the bulk modulus to be 34 GPa, which is more than a

A new six-component accelerometer force balance is developed and used in the HsT2 shock tunnel of Indian Institute of science. Aerodynamic forces and moments for a hypersonic slender body measured using this balance system at a free stream Mach number of 5.75 and Reynolds number of 1.5 million and stagnation enthalpy of 1.5 and 2 MJ/kg are presented. These measured values compare well with the theoretical values estimated using modified Newtonian theory.

The sodium Montmorillonite(Na-MMT)is not susceptible to polymer due to its organophilic character and low basal *** primary objective of this study was to improve Na-MMT platelets separation by organically modifying it with cation and anion exchanges using Cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB)and sodium dodecyl sulfate(sDs)*** spacing,presence of functional groups,Zetapotential with particle size analysis and thermal stability of the Organomodified Na-MMT(OMMT)were characterized using XRD,FTIR,zeta-potential analyzer and TGA *** basal spacing of CTAB modified OMMTincreased to 19.5Åfrom 11.0Åwhich corresponds to the basal spacing of *** sDs modified OMMT did not show any increase in the basal *** spectra of CTAB modified Na-MMT illustrated the attachment of CTAB functional groups to Na-MMT,while the same was absent in the case of sDs modified *** zeta-potential of Na-MMT shifted from–24.88 mV to 15.66 mV in the case of CTAB modified Na-MMTand 12.49 mV for sDs modified Na-MMT,indicating a greater surface potential of the modified *** TGA showed greater weight loss for CTAB modified Na-MMT than that for Na-MMT,indicating the effective Na+ion exchange with alkyl amines.
