Nowadays, traditional production and business models are becoming un-adaptable to the new realitiesChinese manufacturing enterprises are under pressure from all areas of supply chainPurchasing in Chinese manufacturing is facing higher development demands and an unprecedented challengeThis study aims to examine the critical factors affecting purchasing and SCM in Chinese manufacturing such as purchasing personnel, purchasing policies and quality management practices in purchasingTheir contributions on improvement of purchasing and SCM were analysed through the collected data from 124 purchasing staff in Chinese manufacturing enterprisesAccording to the findings, there is sufficient evidence to suggest that all the three critical factors have positive, significant contributions to purchasing and SCM performance"Quality management practices in purchasing" makes greatest contribution to purchasing and SCM performance followed by "Purchasing policies" and "Purchasing personnel"We have suggested few recommendations for future research and Chinese manufacturing enterprises at the end of this study.

The effect of alkali concentrations has been studied on the color strength （K/S） and color fastness properties of single jersey cotton knitted fabrics dyed with 1% Novacron Red S-B reactive dye. Same bath scouring and bleaching are performed and conventional exhaust dyeing method employed by IR laboratory sample dyeing machine. Various alkali concentrations such as 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 g/L are employed and other parameters are kept fixed. The color strength （K/S） and color fastness to wash and rubbing are examined and evaluated. It is revealed that with the increase in alkali concentration from 6 g/L to 8 g/L the value of K/S increases and then up to 10 g/L the value decreases. The overall color fastness properties to washing and rubbing for the dyed samples range from good to excellent.

Influence of annealing temperature and thickness on the optical characteristics of the blend of poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and Phenyl C61 butyric acid methylester (PCBM) layer has been investigated in this report. Photoactive polymer material (P3HT:PCBM) was deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate by spin-coating. The morphology of P3HT:PCBM composite layer was investigated by Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). The surface roughness was found to reduce after heat treatment. The absorption of the composite layer was found to increase with its number of layer (thickness). On the other hand, the photoluminescence (PL) quenching, which indicates efficient charge separation in the bulk heterojunction, was found higher for the thinner layer. Absorption was also found to increase with the annealing temperature. Therefore, to optimize the thickness of the P3HT:PCBM photoactive layer that will provide best absorption while providing efficient charge separation, annealing at optimized temperature might be an effective tool.

Though TES （thermal energy storage） is developed hugely in most of the solar power generation plants, it is less growth in implementing a modular type of TES in a solar plant, e.g., solar dish/stifling engine application. The main issue in designing the TES system is its thermal capacity of storage materials, e.g., insulator. This study is focusing on the potential waste material as an insulator for thermal energy storage applications. The insulator usage is to reduce the heat transfer between two mediums and the capability is measured by its resistance to heat flow. It is needed to obtain optimal materials to energy conversion at the same time reduce the waste generation. Therefore, a small-scale experimental testing of natural cooling process of an insulated tank within a confined room without any forced cooling system, e.g., fan. The testing is repeated by changing the insulator using the potential waste material from natural and industrial waste and also by changing the HTF （heat transfer fluid）. The analysis is performed on the relationship between heat loss and the reserved period by the insulator. The results indicate the percentage of period of the insulated tank withstands the heat compared to non-insulated tank, e.g., cotton reserved the period of 14% more than non-insulated tank to withstand the heat transfer of cooking oil to the surrounding. The paper finally justifies the most potential waste material as an insulator in different heat transfer fluids.

Introduction: The efficacy of chemotherapy in bacteraemia caused by non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) is compromised by antibiotic resistance. Objective: This study was undertaken to describe the mechanism of resistance among clinical NTS isolates. Materials & Methodology: Thirty of NTS were isolated from blood (n = 19), stool (n = 10) and bronchioalveolar lavage (BAL;n = 1) respectively. These isolates were tested for susceptibility testing by disc diffusion method against ampicillin, gentamicin, tetracycline, co-trimoxazole, nalidixic acid, ciprofloxacin and ceftriaxone. Epsilometer tests (E-test) for nalidixic acid and ciprofloxacin were performed for nalidixic acid resistant isolates by disc diffusion method. DNA sequencing was carried out on six of the nalidixic acid resistant Salmonella Enteritidis isolates to identify mutations within quinolones resistance determining regions (QRDR) of gyrA, gyrB, parC and parE genes. Results: Resistance rates of NTS isolates from blood, stool, and BAL were respectively 37%, 20% and 0% for ampicillin, 79%, 40% and 0% for tetracycline, 32%, 40% and 0% for co-trimoxazole, 37%, 10% and 100% for nalidixic acid. Eight isolates were resistant to nalidixic acid and had exhibited reduced susceptibility towards ciprofloxacin by E-test. Mutation within QRDR was detected in gyrA gene (n = 6;Asp 47 → His [3], Asp 51 → Asn [1], Asp 73 → Gly [1], and Gly 48 → Asp [1]) and double mutation was detected in parE gene (n = 3;Gly 48 → Asp [3], Glu 82 → Ser [3]). Out of six isolates, three isolates were found to have both gyrA and parE gene mutations. Conclusions: There was no mutation observed in gyrB and parC gene. Mutation in gyrA gene was sufficient to induce decreased susceptibility to ciprofloxacin. Variation in amino acid sequences are novel, while detection of other gene mutation was uncommon.

An investigation on the prevalence of jumping smash in a badminton game is carried out using a six video camera *** data was collected during the Thomas/Uber Cup 2000 competition,which was held in Kuala Lumpur,*** male players in the single and double competitions were *** trials were digitized using the Peak Motus 2000 *** result from the chi square analysis showed that majority of the jumps and landing occurred in only one *** from the correlation analysis,it was found that the angular velocity of the ankle at the maximum value prior to take off was strongly correlated with the center of mass vertical velocity（r = 0.546,p = 0.001）.

This paper presents the high gain, low noise Cascode LNA with RF amplifier at 5.8GHz using T-matching network applicable for WIMAX application. The Cascode LNA uses FHX76LP Low Noise SuperHEMT FET and RF amplifier use EPA018A. The LNA designed used T-matching network consisting of lump element reactive element at the input and the output terminal. The Cascode LNA with RF amplifier produced gain of 35.5 dB and noise figure （NF） at 1.4dB. The input reflection （S11） and output return loss （S22 ） are -12.4dB and -12.3dB respectively. The bandwidth of the amplifier is more than 1.2 GHz. The input sensitivity is compliant with the IEEE 802.16 standards.

Objective: To evaluate copper and zinc concentrations in plasma and follicular fluid from cattle ovaries, and estimate the impact of rational concentrations of copper and zinc oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs & ZnO-NPs) supplemented during in vitro maturation (IVM) against DNA damage of cumulus cells, glutathione content in oocytes and on consequent embryo development. Methods: Oocytes were obtained from 2 to 8 mm follicles by aspiration method for IVM. Replicates of experiments were performed on different days, with a separate batch of cumulus oocytes complex for each day. Results: The DNA damage of oocytes and cumulus cells significantly decreased with supplemental CuO-NPs or ZnO-NPs concentrations of 0.7 and 1.0 μg/mL in the IVM medium compared to medium without CuO-NPs or ZnO-NPs (P < 0.01). Total glutathione concentrations in oocytes and cumulus cells significantly increased following supplementation with both 0.7 and 1.0 μg/mL CuO-NPs or ZnO-NPs in comparison with 0 and 0.4 μg/mL CuO-NPs or ZnO-NPs supplemented groups (P < 0.01). Supplementation of CuO-NPs or ZnO-NPs during IVM medium at any concentration had no significant effect on cleavge rate. Both CuO-NPs and ZnO-NPs significantly increased blastocyst rates when oocytes were matured with 0.7, 1.0 μg/mL CuO-NPs concentrations (P < 0.01). In contrast, addition of 1.5 μg/mL of CuO-NPs or ZnO-NPs to the maturation media resulted in detrimental effects on the developmental competence of bovine oocytes confirming toxicity induced by CuO-NPs and ZnO-NPs in high concentrations. Conclusions: CuO-NPs or ZnO-NPs-treated bovine oocytes during IVM show low level of DNA fragmentation and increased intracellular glutathione content of cumulus cells. In vitro embryo development is improved by supplementation of rational concentrations of CuO-NPs or ZnO-NPs to culture media. Toxicity induced by CuO-NPs and ZnO-NPs is confirmed in high concentrations.

丛枝菌根真菌(AMF)的菌丝在土壤中通常可以链接相同或不同物种的植物根系,所形成的菌根网络可以将养分从一种植物传递到另一种植物。然而,土壤中的氮(N)含量对不同植物物种之间通过菌根网络进行养分转移的影响尚未实验验证。为了定量研究不同土壤氮水平下羊草(LC)和糙隐子草(CS)之间通过菌根网络的养分转移,本研究建立了两个分室盆栽系统,即CS–LC系统(CS和LC分别为供体和受体)和LC–CS系统(LC和CS分别为供体和受体),设置了3种土壤氮添加水平,即不添加氮对照(N0)、添加7 mg/kg(N1)和添加14 mg/kg(N2)。通过在供体植物一侧土壤添加稳定同位素^(15)N,示踪并量化不同物种植物幼苗之间通过菌根网络传递的氮。在CS–LC系统中,AMF侵染率、菌丝密度和植物生物量在N1水平最高;而在LC–CS系统,AMF侵染率、菌丝密度和植物生物量在N2水平达到最大。此外,在CS–LC系统中,^(15)N转移率介于16%到61%之间,在N1水平最大。对于LC–CS系统,^(15)N传输速率相对较低,最大值出现在N0水平。这些发现表明,土壤中的氮含量能够调控供体植物和受体植物之间经由菌根网络传递的氮养分。
