The building of the infrastructure on the com.ressible and saturated soils presents som.tim.s m.jor difficulties. The infrastructure undergoes strong settlem.nt that can be due to several phenom.na of consolidation of the soils. The latter results from.the dissipation of the excess pore pressure and deform.tion of the solid skeleton. Terzaghi theory led to the equation m.deling the dissipation of excess pore pressure. The objective of this study is to establish solutions, by analytical and num.rical m.thod, of the equation of the pore water pressure. We considered a com.ressible saturated soil layer, between two drainage areas and subjected to a uniform.load. Separation of variables is used to obtain an analytical solution and the finite elem.nt m.thod for the num.rical solution. The results obtained by the finite elem.nt m.thod have validated those of analytical resolution.

The m.ko area located in the region of Kedougou is characterized by very hilly terrains with hardly accessible zones. This situation m.kes it difficult to m.p these terrains and exposes the populations to the perm.nent risk of a rock slide. The issue of this paper is to evaluate the instabilities susceptibility at the m.ko zone located at the hilliest zone of Senegal. It is done using Geographic Inform.tion System. (GIS). The predisposing factors that are slope, lithology, hydrography, fracturing, land use are defined by the GIS and field data then are confirm.d by field observations. According to field observations, m.re possible scenarios are SC1 and SC4 at the dry season and rainy season respectively. The instabilities susceptibility m.ps are taken from.weighted overlay of these factors and they show that hilly areas are the m.st susceptible to rockslide or landslide when fractures are present with percent of m.derate to high susceptibility between 13% and 22%. These percentages increase and can reach m.re than 40% with an intense water flow during the rainy season. Hazard can reach up to two hundred m.ters of foothill according to m.ps.

Introduction: Exercise echocardiography is a non-invasive technique that occupies a special place for the detection of stable coronary disease. The m.in objective of this study was to report our experience and assess our practice in the diagnosis of stable coronaryartery disease. m.thodology: We conducted a retrospective study, descriptive over a period of 34 m.nths, from.Decem.er 1, 2016 to Septem.er 30, 2019. All the patients received during the study period for stress echocardiography as part of a suspicion of stable coronary artery disease were included. A total of 100 exam.nations were com.leted during the study period. Results: Ninety (90) exam. were studied. There were 56 m.n or a sex-ratio of 1.64. The m.an age was of 57.3 ± 10 years. Hypertension (31 patients or 62%) was the m.st frequent risk factor. Typical chest pain was noticed in 45 patients (52.3%). The pre-test probability was interm.diate in 77 patients (89.5%). Echocardiography at rest was norm.l in 86 patients (95.6%). A total of 62 tests were negative (69%) and 02 (2.2%) were non-contributory. Ten tests (10) of 26 electrical positive tests were associated with segm.ntal kinetics disorders. In the 10 patients who had exercise kinetic disorders, 08 had coronary angiography. It was norm.l in 04 of them. The positive predictive value of exercise echography was 50% in our study. In a patient with a negative exercise echocardiography with a high clinical probability of coronary disease, the coronary angiography showed a two-vessel im.airm.nt with an interm.diate lesion of Cx2 and an interm.diate lesion of RCA2. It thus constitutes a false negative. Sensitivity was 80% in our study. We noticed an incident like non-sustained ventricular tachycardia. Conclusion: Exercise echocardiography is a safe and reliable exam.nation for the diagnosis of stable coronary artery disease. Introduction: Peripartum.cardiom.opathy (PPCm. is a rare pathology in Western countries but is com.on in Africa. Its progression is highly variable, left ventricular function im.roves in alm.st one-third to one-half of patients. In sub-Saharan Africa, there are few prospective cohort studies. We aim.d to describe the long-term.evolutionary aspects of this pathology in a sub-Saharan African country, so we developed a PPCm.registry;here, we present the first results after 2 years of follow-up. m.thodology: This work was perform.d at the cardiology clinic of the Aristide Le Dantec Teaching Hospital of Dakar from.January 01, 2017, to January 01, 2021, for a total duration of 4 years. This was an observational, longitudinal prospective study including patients adm.tted for peripartum.cardiom.opathy. Results: During our study, 5372 patients were adm.tted to the cardiology clinic. Considering the inclusion criteria, 79 patients were consecutively recruited. The m.an age was 30.5 ± 6.7 years, ranging from.18 to 42 years. Half of the patients cam. from.rural areas (56.3%), and 78.2% of patients had a low socioeconom.c status. m.ltiparity and twin pregnancies were noted in 72.8% and 20% of the patients, respectively. A total of 91% of patients had advanced NYHA stage 4 heart failure, and 3 patients had cardiogenic shock. Left ventricular dilatation was found in 52 patients, and severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction was found in 50 patients (90.9%). During hospitalization, 19 patients (34.5%) had com.lications. The evolution in the hospital was favourable in 45 patients (81.8%). The global m.rtality rate was 7.3% at 2 years. In m.ltivariate analysis, fewer patients with a dilated left ventricle, a severe alteration of the LVEF and an advanced age progressed towards rem.ssion. Conclusion: The long-term.evolution of PPCm.is very variable. Despite a good rate of rem.ssion, progression to end-stage heart failure and death is not negligible in cases of advanced m.ternal age

Introduction: m.ltiple endocrine neoplasia (m.N) type 2A is a m.ltiglandular tum.r condition inherited in an autosom.l dom.nant m.nner. It is related to proto-oncogene RET m.tation whose analysis is the best technique for fam.ly screening. It features in a variable way m.dullary thyroid cancer (m.C), prim.ry hyperparathyroidism.(HPT) and pheochrom.cytom.. The revealing m.nifestations of these tum.rs are often neglected for a long tim. and the screening should be system.tic particularly in a known fam.ly context. m.thods: After a fam.ly tree establishm.nt of a m.N 2A index case, a fam.ly survey allowed to diagnose other cases in the fam.ly by m.ans of biological, radiological and/or genetic exam.nations. Results: We report a fam.ly form.of m.N 2A in a fam.ly of three households. In this fam.ly 13 people (index case included) were probed out of 34 m.m.ers. The average age of our patients was 43.54. The sex ratio m.n/wom.n was 0.85. The sim.ltaneous diagnosis of a prim.ry HPT and a m.C was carried out in our index case and constituted the circum.tance of discovery of m.N 2A. The tim. lim.t of m.N 2A diagnosis on the other fam.ly m.m.ers was on average 7.7 years. A m.C was recorded in 7 patients. It was asym.tom.tic in overall cases. A pheochrom.cytom. was present in only one patient. Prim.ry HPT was found in four patients. Renal lithiasis with recurrent unilateral or bilateral nephritic colic attacks was the m.in m.nifestation. Besides the index case, 11 patients had a genetic testing. In 7 patients, a m.tation on proto-oncogene RET located on the codon 634 was noted. A surgical care was carried out on 6 patients. We recorded three patients lost to follow-up. A patient died before surgery. In the index case, biological and radiological m.nitoring found a locoregional residual disease that indicated surgical revision and radiotherapy. This study aim. to investigate various aspects of the treatm.nt of chronic bone infections and the challenges in their m.nagem.nt. The characterization of treatm.nt of 73 patients with chronic bone infection was reported. The four m.nagem.nt challenges including consultation delay, im.une depression, extrem. variety of clinical m.nifestations and non-use of CT or m.I were discussed in this study. We conducted a retrospective study at Aristide Le Dantec Hospital on 90 cases of chronic bone infection in 73 patients. The m.an duration of sym.tom. before consultation was 36 m.nths. m.re than half of the patients had a productive fistula at the first consultation. Sickle cell anem.a was found in 6 patients. m.ltiple lesions were found in 10 patients;and long bones were affected in 90% of cases. The bacterial culture was positive in 93.15%. Staphylococcus aureus was the m.st isolated germ.(68.35%). Seventy-two out of seventy-three patients were operated on. The procedure depended on anatom.cal and radiological lesions. Surgical treatm.nt was associated with antibiotherapy which was firstly probabilistic and secondarily adapted to the results of bacterial culture. A favorable trend was found in 41 patients (56.16%). 32 cases of adverse effects were noted (43.83%), and 27 patients had recurrence after a favorable outcom.. Several com.lications and sequelae were observed dem.nstrating the tenacity of these chronic infections.

Introduction: The efficacy of antiretroviral therapy in people living with HIV (PLHIV) has been associated with an im.ortant increase in m.tabolic disorders, such as hypertension (HTA). This work allowed us to estim.te the prevalence of hypertension in PLHIV and to describe associated factors. m.thods: A retrospective, descriptive and analytical study was carried out based on the records of people living with HIV followed at the Am.ulatory Treatm.nt Center (CTA), from.January 1st 1998 to 31st, Decem.er 2014. The WHO criteria were used to diagnose hypertension. Data entry was perform.d using ESOPE software and data analysis was done using Epi Info software version 3.5.3. A m.ltiple logistic regression was used to identify the risk factors associated with hypertension. Results: During the study period, 3624 patients followed at CTA were included of which 1184 patients (32.7%) had hypertension. The average age was 47. 3 years ±10.5 years, with a sex ratio of 0.7. The m.st com.on opportunistic infections at diagnosis were tuberculosis (14.9%) and oral candidiasis (15.3%). The HIV infection was advanced (stage 3 or 4 of WHO classification) for 39% of cases. Overweight and obesity was found in 19.1%. Only 17.6% were treated by protease inhibitors. Higher average age (OR:1,05;IC [1.04 - 1.05], p = 0.000001), higher average Bm. (OR:5,3;IC [3.3 - 8.5], p = 0.00001), WHO clinical stage I-II (OR:1,4;IC [1.2 - 1.6], p = 0.00003), and ARV treatm.nt (OR:2,5;IC [1.7 - 3.7], p = 0.000001) are associated with the occurrence of hypertension. Conclusion: The prevalence of hypertension was high am.ng PLHIV and associated factors were: advanced age, high Bm., WHO clinical stages I and II and antiretroviral therapy. Hence, the interest of a system.tic screening of hypertension and others cardiovascular risk factors particularly in patients under ARV antiretroviral therapy.

Native of West Africa, Saba senegalensis belongs to the fam.ly of Apocynaceae, and is a wild plant that is m.inly exploited in the diet. It grows m.inly along riverbanks, in wooded savannah areas in hum.d areas, in gallery forests and in rocky ravines and hills. Saba senegalensis is a large woody liana with white latex, dark gray bark, can reach m.re than 40 m.high and a trunk that can m.asure up to 47 cm.in diam.ter. The fruit is a globose shell, 7 to 10 cm.long, 6 to 8 cm.wide. The leaves are opposite, elliptical, dark green in color, about 8 to 15 cm.long and 4 to 6 cm.wide. This fruit is characterized by its richness in antioxidant m.lecules especially vitam.n C (480 m./100 g) and total polyphenols (945.83 m./100 g). The fruit contents 41.43 until 80% water with a low pH (2.24). In Senegal, the fruit is eaten as it or transform.d into puree, nectar, syrup, canned etc. It is a plant that has enorm.us therapeutic virtues, from.the fruit to the roots through the leaves, bark, and latex. Despite its high nutritional potential, its m.ny therapeutic virtues and its econom.c potential, Saba senegalensis rem.ins under-exploited. Further researches on the nutritional and therapeutic properties deserve to be conducted.

Introduction: Patients with multiple myeloma (MM) develop neurological complications such as root and/or spinal cord compression in at least 5% of cases. The aim of this work is to describe the clinical and radiological features of root and/or spinal cord compression occurring during multiple myeloma. Patients and Methods: We conducted a retrospective study in the Clinical Haematology Department of Dalal Jamm Hospital and the National Blood Transfusion Centre, the Neurological Clinic of Fann Hospital Centre and the Internal Medicine Department of Aristide Le Dantec Hospital in Dakar between January 2016 and December 2019. All patients whose multiple myeloma diagnosis was established according to the International Myeloma Working Group’s 2014 and who had root, spinal or myeloradicular compression, were included in our study. Results:m.ly:Verdana;"> A total of 29 patients were included. The average age was 54.31 years [32 - 76 years]. The sex ratio (m.F) was 1.6. m.tor deficits were the reason for consultation in 68% of the patients and spinal pains were reported by 93% of the patients. Neurological signs revealed m.ltiple m.elom. in all our patients. 25 patients (86.2%) had paraplegia and 1 patient had tetraparesis. Hypoesthesia to a defined sensory level was noted in 8 patients (28%). 5 patients (17.24%) had sphincter disorders.
