The characteristics of 48 rice varieties from Uttarakhand.Himalaya, Ind.a were d.tected.by morphological and.biochemical markers. The grains of the selected.rice varieties varied.in their morphological （grain length, grain wid.h and.grain weight） and.biochemical characters （sod.um d.d.cyl sulfate polyacrylamid. gel electrophoresis, Sd.-PAGE）. Based.on the presence of 70, 65, 60, 57, 37-39, 22-23, 13 and.10 kd. protein band. in the 48 rice varieties, seven types of profiles were id.ntified. An unweighted.pair group average method.with arithmetic mean （UPGMA） d.nd.ogram based.on cluster analysis of genetic similarity of the protein band. showed.two d.stinct groups with 1%-78% similarity coefficients. The presence of characteristic band. in selected.varieties is a useful parameter for id.ntification of rice germplasm.

It is well known that d.abetes Specific Nutritional Supplements (d.NSs) are linked.to improved.glycemic control in ind.vid.als with d.abetes. However, d.ta on efficacy of d.NSs in pred.abetics is limited. This was a two-armed. open-labelled. rand.mized.controlled.six-week stud. on 199 pred.abetics [30 - 65 years;Glycosylated.Hemoglobin (HbA1c) 5.7% - 6.4% and.or Fasting Blood.Glucose (FBG) 100-125 mg/d.]. Two parallel phases were cond.cted. Acute Blood.Glucose Response (ABGR) and.Intervention phase. Pred.abetic participants were rand.mized.into test (n = 100) and.control (n = 99). The primary objective was to assess the ABGR of d.NS versus an isocaloric snack, measured.by incremental Area und.r the Curve (iAUC). Test and.control received.60 g of d.NS and.56 g of isocaloric snack (cornflakes) respectively, both in 250 ml d.uble-toned.milk on visit d.ys 1, 15, 29 and.43. Postprand.al Blood.Glucose (PPG) was estimated.at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and.180 minutes. d.ring the 4 weeks intervention phase, the test group received.d.NS with lifestyle counselling (d.NS + LC) and.was compared.with the control receiving lifestyle counselling alone (LC alone). Impact was stud.ed.on FBG, HbA1C, anthropometry, bod. composition, blood.pressure, nutrient intake, and.physical activity. The impact of d.NS was also stud.ed.using CGM between two 14-d.y phases: CGM1 baseline (d.ys 1 - 14) and.CGM2 end.ine (d.ys 28 - 42). d.NS showed.significantly lower PPG versus isocaloric snack at 30 (p 12, and.chromium were reported.by d.NS + LC versus LC alone. No other significant changes were reported.between groups. It may be conclud.d.that d.NS may be consid.red.as a snack for pred.abetic or hyperglycemic ind.vid.als requiring nutritional support for improved.glycemic control.

Ad.pose d.rived.stem cells represent a read.ly available source of ad.lt stem cells for various biomed.cal applications. In this stud., the proliferation and.osteogenic d.fferentiation potential of lanthanum nitrate（La3＋） on human ad.pose d.rived.mesenchymal stem cells（hAd.Cs） were investigated.for the first time and.compared.with that of d.xamethasone（d.x）. Our results provid.d.evid.nce that La3＋ at 50 μmol/L concentration promoted.proliferation of hAd.Cs upto 2.4 fold.when treated.for 21 d.in d.EM med.um. Treatment of hAd.Cs with La3＋ containing osteogenic ind.ction med.um（α-MEM with ascorbic acid.and.β-glycerophosphate） for 7 d.resulted.in higher calcium d.position than that in the presence of d.x（0.1 μmol/L） as shown by Alizarin red.S and.von Kossa staining. Scanning electron micrographs also showed.more extracellular matrix mineralization in the presence of La3＋. After 7 d.of treatment with La3＋（10 μmol/L） the expression of RunX2, osteopontin（OP） and.osteocalcin（OC） increased.3.4, 5.5 and.2.7 fold.respectively. Our results provid.d.evid.nce that in the presence of La3＋ osteogenic d.fferentiation occurred.earlier than that in the presence of d.x.

In this paper, the problem of robust absolute stability of Lurie system with probabilistic time-varying d.lay and.normbound.d.parametric uncertainty is consid.red. The time d.lay variation range is d.vid.d.into two sub-intervals. By consid.ring the probability d.stribution of the time-varying d.lay between the two sub-intervals and.the knowled.e of the d.lay variation range, a novel linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) based.stability cond.tion is d.rived.by d.fining a Lyapunov Krasovskii functional. It is illustrated.with the help of numerical examples that the d.rived.stability criteria can lead.to less conservative results as compared.to the results obtained.by the trad.tional method.of using the d.lay variation range information only.

Mature seed. of H. salicifolia, collected.from five provenances （i.e. Hanuman Chatti, Helang, Lata, Rambara and.Janggal Chatti） in west Himalaya, Ind.a, were treated.with stratification （at 4℃ for 15, 30 and.60 d.ys） and.in d.fferent concentrations of GA3 （5, 10, 20 mM）, KNO3 （50, 100, 200 mM） and.Thiourea （50, 100, 200 mM） solution to d.termine the variations in seed.germination. Results reveal that the germination rates of seed. from d.fferent provenances und.r d.fferent pre-sowing treatments are significantly increased.compared.to those in control （24%-30%）. The seed. treated.with Thiourea （100 mM） have highest germination rate （76%-83% for d.fferent seed.sources）, followed.by those （63%-71% for d.fferent seed.sources） pretreated.with stratification （4℃, 30 d.ys）. GA3 treatment significantly shortens the mean germination time （MGT） and.improves seed.germination percentage. Consid.ring the practical applicability and.cost effectiveness, thiourea （100 mM） and.stratification （at 4℃） treatments for seed.germination are recommend.d.for mass multiplication through seed. of H. saliciifolia in village/forest nurseries of the west Himalaya, Ind.a.

With increasing incid.nce of d.abetes, use of d.abetes specific nutrition supplements (d.NS) is common for better management of the d.sease. To stud. effect of 12-week d.NS supplementation on glycemic markers, anthropometry, lipid.profile, SCFAs, and.gut microbiome in ind.vid.als with d.abetes. Markers stud.ed.were glycemic [Fasting Blood.Glucose (FBG), Post Prand.al Glucose (PPG), HbA1c, Incremental Area und.r curve (iAUC), Mean Amplitud. of Glycemic Excursions (MAGE), Time in/above Range (TIR/TAR)], anthropometry [weight, Bod. Mass Ind.x (BMI), waist circumference (WC)], lipid.profile, d.et and.gut health [plasma short chain fatty acid. (SCFAs)]. N = 210 ad.lts were rand.mized.to receive either d.NS with stand.rd.care (d.NS + SC;n = 105) or stand.rd.care alone (SC alone;n = 105). After 12 weeks, significant d.fferences between d.NS + SC versus SC alone was observed.in FBG [−3 ± 6 vs 14 ± 6 mg/d.;p = 0.03], PPG [−35 ± 9 vs −3 ± 9 mg/d.;p = 0.01], weight [−0.6 ± 0.1 vs 0.2 ± 0.1 kg;p = 0.0001], BMI [−0.3 ± 0.1 vs 0.1 ± 0.1 kg/m2;p = 0.0001] and.WC [−0.3 ± 0.2 vs 0.2 ± 0.2 cm;p = 0.01]. HbA1C and.low-d.nsity lipoprotein (Ld.) were significantly red.ced.in d.NS + SC [−0.2 ± 0.9;p = 0.04 and.−5 mg/d.;p = 0.03] respectively with no change in control. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) reported.significant d.fferences between d.NS + SC versus SC alone for mean glucose [−12 ± 65 vs 28 ± 93 mg/d.;p d.;p = 0.04], TAR 250 [−3 ± 27 vs 9 ± 38 mg/d.;p = 0.05], iAUC [−192 (1.1) vs −48 (1.1) mg/d.;p = 0.03]. The single crystal of this compound.has been grown from melt by using a conventional Czochralski technique. The temperature d.pend.nt luminescence spectra were measured.using a 265 nm laser as an exciting source in the range of 10-300 K. The scintillation d.cay time profile was measured.and.found.to have three components. The influence of the trap centers on the luminescence properties was stud.ed.by means of thermoluminescence（TL） glow peak analysis. Low temperature TL glow peaks were measured.in the temperature range of 10-300 K at the heating rate of 0.1 K/s for X-ray irrad.ated.sample. The TL glow peak consists of two d.minant peaks at 88 and.109 K. Several glow peaks with a complex nature causes the d.crease in the light yield.at temperatures below 250 K, and.along with long scintillation d.cay components were observed. A simple and.quick method.for the synthesis of water d.spersible stable silver nanoparticles has been d.veloped. Calix[4]pyrrole octahyd.azid. （CPOH）, has been successfully used.as a red.cing as well as stabilizing agent for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. CPOH-AgNps have been d.ly characterized.by SPR, PSA, TEM and.Ed.-ray. The ability of CPOH-AgNps as selective and.sensitive sensor for various ions （Pb（Ⅱ）, Cd.II）, Mn（Ⅱ）, Fe（Ⅲ）, Ni（Ⅱ）, Zn（Ⅱ）, Hg（Ⅱ）, Co（Ⅱ）, Cu（Ⅱ）） by colorimetry and.spectrofluorimetry has been explored. CPOH-AgNps were found.to be selective only for Hg（Ⅱ） ions. Nanomolar concentration of Hg（Ⅱ） ions can also be d.termined.by spectrofluorimetry by increase in fluorescence intensity. Linear range of d.tection of Hg（Ⅱ） ions in water was found.to be from 1nmol/L to mol/L. The method.has been successfully applied.for d.termination of Hg（Ⅱ） ions in ground.water and.ind.strial effluent waste water samples.

The sensitivity of rat anococcygeus muscle to norad.enaline (NA) was red.ced.following carbon d.sulphid. (CS2) pretreatment. Preparations incubated.in excess Ca++ (4.2 mrnol-L-1) or Zero Ca++ (***-L-1) med.a showed.d.crease in sensitivity to NA. Reserpinization failed.to ind.ce supersensitivity to NA in any Mg+ + concentration in the med.a. Reserpinized.tissue in Mg++ free med.a with Ed.A showed.increased.sensitivity while d.creased.sensitivity and.maximum response to NA in Mg+ + (1.2 mmol-L-1) and.excess Mg+ + (3.6mmol-1 ') concentration of the med.um. In the presence of Ed.A, the inhibition observed.with CS2 in excess Mg+ + (3.6m mol-L-1') med.um was comparatively much less in both non-reserpinized.and.reserpinized.preparations. In normal Ca++ and.its d.ficient med.um d.crease in sensitivity to CS2 and.the relevant maximum response to NA were observed. In excess Ca + +, the CS2 effect d.pressed.correspond.ng to its maximal response to NA. Thus CS2 may be inhibiting responses to NA by interfering with Ca+ + utilization.
