Contrasting demographic trends and asymmetric migration rates in a spatially structured amphibian population

A novel semantic segmentation approach based on U-Net,WU-Net,and U-Net++deep learning for predicting areas sensitive to pluvial flood at tropical area

Floods remain one of the most devastating weather-induced disastersworldwide, resulting in numerous fatalities each year and severelyimpacting socio-economic development and the ***, the ability to predict flood-prone areas in advance is crucialfor effective risk management. The objective of this research is to assessand compare three convolutional neural networks, U-Net, WU-Net, andU-Net++, for spatial prediction of pluvial flood with a case study at atropical area in the north of Vietnam. They are relative new convolutionalgorithms developed based on U-shaped architectures. For this task, ageospatial database with 796 historical flood locations and 12 floodindicators was prepared. For training the models, the binary crossentropywas employed as the loss function, while the Adaptive momentestimation (ADAM) algorithm was used for the optimization of themodel parameters, whereas, F1-score and classification accuracy (Acc)were used to assess the performance of the models. The results unequivocally highlight the high performance of the three models,achieving an impressive accuracy rate of 96.01%. The flood susceptibility maps derived from this research possess considerable utility for local authorities, providing valuable insights and informationto enhance decision-making processes and facilitate the implementation of effective risk management strategies.

Clinical significance of"anti-Hbc alone"in human immunodeficiency virus-positive patients

AIM： TO determine the prevalence and clinical relevance of isolated antibodies to hepatitis b core antigen as the only marker of infection （“anti-Hbc alone”） among human immunodeficiency virus （HIV） type-1 infected patients. Occult hepatitis b infection frequency was also evaluated. METHODS： Three hundred and forty eight histories from 2388 HIV-positive patients were randomly reviewed. Patients with serological markers of hepatitis b virus （HbV） infection were classified into three groups： past hepatitis, ＂anti-Hbc alone＂ and chronic hepatitis. Determination of DNA from HbV, and RNA and genotype from hepatitis C virus （HCV） were performed on ＂anti-Hbc alone＂ patients. RESULTS： One hundred and eighty seven （53.7%） HIV-positive patients had markers of HbV infection： 118 past infection （63.1%）, 14 chronic hepatitis （7.5%） and 55 ＂anti-Hbc alone＂（29.4%）. Younger age [2.3-fold higher per every 10 years younger; 95% confidence intervals （Cl） 1.33-4.00] and antibodies to HCV infection [odds ratio （OR） 2.87; 95% CI 1.10-7.48] were factors independently associated with the ＂anti-Hbc alone＂ pattern. No differences in liver disease frequency were detected between both groups. Serum levels of anti-Hbs were not associated with HCV infection （nor viral replication or HCV genotype）, or with HIV replication or CD4 level. No ＂anti-Hbc alone＂ patient tested positive for HbV DNA. CONCLUSION：＂Anti-Hbc alone＂ prevalence in HIM- positive patients was similar to previously reported data and was associated with a younger age and with antibodies to HCV infection. In clinical practice, HbV DNA determination should be performed only in those patients with clinical or analytical signs of liver injury,

because of the presence of modified warp factors in metric tensors,we use deformed AdS5 spaces to apply the AdS/CFT correspondence to calculate the spectra for even and odd glueballs,scalar and vector mesons,and baryons with different *** the glueball cases,we derive their Regge trajectories and compare them with those related to the pomeron and the *** the scalar and vector mesons,as well as baryons,the determined masses are compatible with the *** particular,for these hadrons we found Regge trajectories compatible with another holographic approach as well as with the hadronic spectroscopy,which present an universal Regge slope of approximately 1.1 GeV^2.

Rheumatic manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease

This article reviews the literature concerning rheu-matic manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease (IbD),including common immune-mediated pathways,frequency,clinical course and therapy. Musculoskel-etal complications are frequent and well-recognized manifestations in IbD,and affect up to 33% of pa-tients with IbD. The strong link between the bowel and the osteo-articular system is suggested by many clinical and experimental observations,notably in HLA-b27 transgenic rats. The autoimmune pathogenic mechanisms shared by IbD and spondyloarthropathies include genetic susceptibility to abnormal antigen pre-sentation,aberrant recognition of self,the presence of autoantibodies against specific antigens shared by the colon and other extra-colonic tissues,and increased intestinal permeability. The response against microor-ganisms may have an important role through molecular mimicry and other mechanisms. Rheumatic mani-festations of IbD have been divided into peripheral arthritis,and axial involvement,including sacroiliitis,with or without spondylitis,similar to idiopathic anky-losing spondylitis. Other periarticular features can oc-cur,including enthesopathy,tendonitis,clubbing,peri-ostitis,and granulomatous lesions of joints and *** and osteomalacia secondary to IbD and iatrogenic complications can also occur. The manage-ment of the rheumatic manifestations of IbD consists of physical therapy in combination with local injection of corticosteroids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; caution is in order however,because of their possible harmful effects on intestinal integrity,perme-ability,and even on gut inflammation. Sulfasalazine,methotrexate,azathioprine,cyclosporine and lefluno-mide should be used for selected indications. In some cases,tumor necrosis factor-α blocking agents should be considered as first-line therapy.

Grouping tree species to estimate basal area increment in temperate multispecies forests in Durango,Mexico

Multispecies forests have received increased scientific attention,driven by the hypothesis that biodiversity improves ecological ***,a greater species diversity presents challenges for forest management and *** study aims to develop basal area growth models for tree species *** analysis is based on a dataset of 423 permanent plots(2,500 m^(2))located in temperate forests in Durango,***,we define tree species cohorts based on individual and neighborhood-based variables using a combination of principal component and cluster ***,we estimate the basal area increment of each cohort through the generalized additive model to describe the effect of tree size,competition,stand density and site *** principal component and cluster analyses assign a total of 37 tree species to eight cohorts that differed primarily with regard to the distribution of tree size and vertical position within the *** generalized additive models provide satisfactory estimates of tree growth for the species cohorts,explaining between 19 and 53 percent of the total variation of basal area increment,and highlight the following results:i)most cohorts show a"rise-and-fall"effect of tree size on tree growth;ii)surprisingly,the competition index"basal area of larger trees"had showed a positive effect in four of the eight cohorts;iii)stand density had a negative effect on basal area increment,though the effect was minor in medium-and high-density stands,and iv)basal area growth was positively correlated with site quality except for an oak *** developed species cohorts and growth models provide insight into their particular ecological features and growth patterns that may support the development of sustainable management strategies for temperate multispecies forests.

background:Living well is as important as living *** objective of this study is to assess quality of life(QoL)in congenital heart disease(CHD)according to current AHA/ACC anatomical and physiological ***:Cross-sectional study examining the World Health Organization QoL bref questionnaire(WHOQoL-bref)in consecutive outpatient CHD patients from a single ***:191 CHD patients were *** age was 28±13 years and 59%were male.44(23%),115(60%)and 33(17%)CHD patients showed mild,moderate and great anatomical defects respectively while 69(36%)patients were in physiological Stage A,27(14%)in Stage b,84(44%)in Stage C and 11(6%)in Stage *** significant differences were seen in relation the anatomical classification and the different sections of the WHOQoL-bref *** patients in Stages C and D had significant lower physical domain scores than patients in the Stage A(pbinary logistic regression analysis showed that having a higher educational level was a protective factor[OR 0.32(95%CI,0.12-0.87),p=0.026]while being married or cohabit was a risk factor[OR 3.46(95%CI,1.13-10.63),p=0.030]for having a worse rated ***,having a worse functional class(NYHA≥2)[OR 3.44(95%CI,1.20-9.81),p=0.021]was associated with dissatisfaction with ***:Patients with advanced physiological stages scored lower on the physiological *** statistical significance was seen,according to the anatomical and physiological classification,in the psychological,social relationship and environmental domains.
