Historical documents provide evidence for regional droughts preceding the political turmoil and fall of beijing in 1644 CE,when more than 20 million people died in northern China during the late Ming famine ***,the role climate and environmental changes may have played in this pivotal event in Chinese history remains ***,we provide tree-ring evidence of persistent megadroughts from1576 to 1593 CE and from 1628 to 1644 CE in northern China,which coincided with exceptionally cold summers just before the fall of *** analysis reveals that these regional hydroclimatic extremes are part of a series of megadroughts along the Pacific Rim,which not only impacted the ecology and society of monsoonal northern China,but likely also exacerbated external geopolitical and economic *** finding is corroborated by last millennium reanalysis data and numerical climate model simulations revealing internally driven Pacific sea surface temperature variations and the predominance of decadal scale La Ni?a-like conditions to be responsible for precipitation decreases over northern China,as well as extensive monsoon regions in the *** teleconnection patterns provide a mechanistic explanation for reoccurring drought spells during the late Ming Dynasty and the environmental framework fostering the fall of beijing in 1644 CE,and the subsequent demise of the Ming Dynasty.

The purpose of this study is to analyze whether the maturation of spontaneous EEG occurs at the same rate as Late Positive Component (LPC) maturation. To that end, the spontaneous EEG rhythms power spectral density (PSD) and the LPC component in a group of children and a group of young adults were obtained and analyzed by means of Spearman’s correlation coefficients, hierarchical clustering, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and topographical analysis. The multivariate analysis revealed a co-maturation of LPC with the delta band. This co-maturation was more evident in the more posterior region. The multivariate analysis results suggest that the maturation of the two components is temporally closely associated. The LPC in both children and young adults was produced by a combination of increase of Event Related Spectral Perturbation (ERSP) and phase resetting in the delta band. It can be suggested that the maturations of delta and LPC are functionally interdependent due to a possible origin of LPC as a delta phase resetting and/or because both processes depend on the same fraction of synaptic pruning.

The overuse and misuse of antibiotics have accelerated the selection of antibiotic-resistant bacteria,significantly impacting human,animal,and environmental *** aquatic environments are vulnerable to antibiotic resistance,suitable management practices should be adopted to tackle this *** we show an effective,nature-based solution for reducing antibiotic resistance from actual *** utilize a bioreactor that relies on benthic(biofilms)and planktonic microbial communities to treat secondary effluent from a small urban wastewater treatment plant(bserve high removal efficiency for genes that provide resistance to commonly used antibiotic families,as well as for mobile genetic elements that could potentially aid in their ***,we notice a buildup of sulfonamide(sul1 and sul2)and tetracycline(tet(C),tet(G),and tetR)resistance genes specifically in *** advancement marks the initial step in considering this bioreactor as a nature-based,cost-effective tertiary treatment option for small UWWTPs facing antibiotic resistance challenges.

Since indoor clothing insulation is a key element in thermal comfort models,the aim of the present study is proposing an approach for predicting it,which could assist the occupants of a building in terms of recommendations regarding their *** that,a systematic analysis of input variables is exposed,and 13 regression and 12 classification machine learning algorithms were developed and *** results are based on data from 3352 questionnaires and 21 input variables from a field study in mixed-mode office buildings in *** temperature at 6 a.m.,indoor air temperature,indoor relative humidity,comfort temperature and gender were the most relevant features for predicting clothing *** comparing machine learning algorithms,decision tree-based algorithms with boosting techniques achieved the best *** proposed model provides an efficient method for forecasting the clothing insulation level and its application would entail optimising thermal comfort and energy efficiency.

Anorexia nervosa(AN) is a complex disorder with a strong genetic component. Comorbidities are frequent and there is substantial overlap with other disorders. The lack of understanding of the molecular and neuroanatomical causes has made it difficult to develop effective treatments and it is often difficult to treat in clinical practice. Recent advances in genetics have changed our understanding of polygenic diseases,increasing the possibility of understanding better how molecular pathways are intertwined. This review synthetizes the current state of genetic research providing an overview of genome-wide association studies(GWAS) findings in AN as well as overlap with other disorders, traits, pathways, and imaging results. This paper also discusses the different putative global pathways that are contributing to the disease including the evidence for metabolic and psychiatric origin of the disease.

Aquacrop Model Calibration in Potato and Its Use to Estimate Yield Variability under Field Conditions

AquaCrop model estimates the crop productivity decrease in response to water stress, determining the biomass (b) based on water productivity (WP) and accumulated transpiration (ΣTr);and the yield (Y) is calculated according to b and the harvest index (HI). AquaCrop was evaluated considering different WP values for 2010 late growing season to simulate crop yield of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) cv. Spunta, in a commercial production field of 9 ha located in the green belt of Cordoba city (31°30'S, 64°08'W, 402 m asl), while monitoring in 2009 was used to verify the model. Canopy cover estimation by AquaCrop was adjusted using observed field data obtained from vertical digital photographs acquired at 2.5 m height. WP values of 15.8 and 31.6 (for C3 and C4 species, respectively) and two intermediate values 21 and 26.3 g·mˉ2 were considered to evaluate the model performance. While linear function between observed tuber yields and estimated by AquaCrop had always a correlation coefficient greater than 0.94 (p 0.001), using WP = 26.3 and WP =31.6 g·mˉ2 presented overestimation, whereas with 15.8 g·mˉ2 had an opposite behavior, while WP = 21 g·mˉ2 was the value that produced the lowest estimation error. In addition, soil moisture from this estimated value of WP was highly correlated with measured water content in different areas of production field. The verification test shows that while the model slightly underestimates canopy cover, biomass was overestimated. After setting the coefficients of canopy cover development, the AquaCrop crop model estimated adequately potato yield for high production values that are less affected by lack of water, but in both years showed a tendency to overestimate the lowest yields, as was observed for other crops. Meanwhile, the dispersion between the observed and estimated yield was higher in the verification test because the sampling this year was more random.

Infections in infants and children under five years of age are a public health in México and are one of the major causes of death. Methods In this study, lymphocyte immunophenotyping for CD3+ (T-cells), CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD8+, CD3+CD19+, CD3+CD16/56+, CD45RA+, CD45RO+, CD62L- and CD28- were determined in the whole blood of gastrointestinal and respiratory bacterial infected children, using a four-color flow cytometry technique. Results: Our data showed that the percentages and the absolute numbers of monocytes and granulocytes are increased in infected children, when compared to the control group. Similarly, we observed increases in the percentages of b lymphocytes, CD8+ cells, memory T cells (CD4+CD45RO+ and CD8+CD45RO+) and effector lymphocytes (CD4+CD62L? and CD8+CD28?) in infected children compared with the control group. In contrast, naive T cells were decreased in the bacterial infected children relative to the control group. Additionally, we used ELISA assays to identify the pathogen agent in gastrointestinal and respiratory infection. Comparing different types of infection, we found that the children with respiratory bacterial infections had higher percentages of b lymphocytes, and cytotoxic lymphocytes (CD8+CD28-);and the children with gastrointestinal infections had higher percentages of CD3+ lymphocytes and effector cells (CD4+CD62L-). Conclusions The increase in b lymphocytes and CD8+CD28- cells in the children with respiratory infections and the increase of T lymphocytes and CD4+CD62L- cells in the children with gastrointestinal bacterial infections indicate that both cellular and humoral responses coincide, and both responses are necessary for eliminating the pathogen.

C3G is a GEF(guanine nucleotide exchange factor)for Rap GTPases,among which the isoform Rap1b is an essential protein in platelet *** transgenic mouse models with platelet-specific overexpression of C3G or mutant C3GΔCat,we have unveiled a new function of C3G in regulating the hemostatic function of platelets through its participation in the thrombin-PKCRap1b pathway.C3G also plays important roles in angiogenesis,tumor growth,and metastasis through its regulation of the platelet *** addition,C3G contributes to megakaryopoiesis and ***,we used a platelet-specific C3G-KO mouse model to further support the role of C3G in hemostasis.C3G-KO platelets showed a significant delay in platelet activation and aggregation as a consequence of the defective activation of Rap1,which resulted in decreased thrombus formation in ***,we explored the contribution of C3G-Rap1b to platelet signaling pathways triggered by thrombin,PMA or ADP,in the referenced transgenic mouse model,through the use of a battery of specific *** found that platelet C3G is phosphorylated at Tyr504 by a mechanism involving *** phosphorylation was shown to be positively regulated by ERKs through their inhibition of the tyrosine phosphatase ***,C3G participates in the ADP-P2Y12-PI3K-Rap1b pathway and is a mediator of thrombin-TXA2 ***,it inhibits the synthesis of TXA2 through cPLA2 *** together,our data reveal the critical role of C3G in the main pathways leading to platelet activation and aggregation through the regulation of Rap1b.

background: The collapse of the alveolar ridge in an edentulous area in patients who will undergo oral rehabilitation impedes the harmonic relationship between pontic and ridge. To correct this type of defect there are several surgical techniques that aim to achieve soft tissue augmentation, allowing the conformation of an ideal profile with the use of a pontic. The aim was to demonstrate how the technique of tissue modification in an area with a class b defect of Allen allows the correction of aesthetics in the anterior dental sector. Case presentation: A 41-year-old Mexican woman. Extra and intraoral examination was performed, the dental treatment included connective tissue graft and rehabilitation with Zirconia. Conclusion: Surgery of residual alveolar ridge augmentation with connective tissue graft gives the patient favorable aesthetic results in the anterior area when it will be rehabilitated.
