the development,production and utilization of renewable energy,energy storage and green hydrogen and the associated technologies in Sri Lanka have great potential to contribute to the United Nations’Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).the island aims to achieve 70%electricity generation from renewable energy sources by 2030(within the target of 40%utilization of renewable energy sources for the entire energy generation of the country by 2030).the power sector has to invest US$11 billion from 2023 to 2030 to contribute to reaching this *** commentary aims to provide a critical perspective on the recommendations of the report from the National Science and Technology Commission’s 9th biennial conference in 2023 on science and technology,the sub.thematic technical report on clean energy,energy storage and green hydrogen in line with the SDGs in the Sri Lankan *** technical report provides insightful recommendations for Sri Lanka’s energy sector under three main sections:renewable energy,energy storage and green ***,it explores the potential of various renewable energy sources,energy storage systems and green hydrogen as sustainable solutions to address the country’s energy challenges while emphasizing the spillover effects of them,which could contribute to the enterprise’s job creation and uplift the economy.

Trade-offs between ecosystem service provision and the predisposition to disturbances: a NFI-based scenario analysis

background: Scenario analyses that evaluate management effects on the long-term provision and sustainability of forest ecosystem services and biodiversity(ESb) also need to account for disturbances. the objectives of this study were to reveal potential trade-offs and synergies between ESb provision and disturbance predisposition at the scale of a whole ***: the empirical scenario model MASSIMO was used to simulate forest development and management from years 2016 to 2106 on 5086 sample plots of the Swiss National Forest Inventory(NFI). We included a businessas-usual(bAU) scenario and four scenarios of increased timber harvesting. Model output was evaluated with indicators for 1) ESb provision including a) timber production, b) old-growth forest characteristics as biodiversity proxies and c) protection against rockfall and avalanches and 2) for a) storm and b) bark beetle ***: the predisposition indicators corresponded well(AUC: 0.71–0.86) to storm and insect(mostly bark beetle)damage observations in logistic regression models. Increased timber production was generally accompanied with decreased predisposition(storm: >-11%, beetle: >-37%, depending on region and scenario), except for a scenario that promoted conifers where beetle predisposition increased(e.g. + 61% in the Southern Alps). Decreased disturbance predisposition and decreases in old-growth forest indicators in scenarios of increased timber production revealed a trade-off situation. In contrast, growing stock increased under bAU management along with a reduction in conifer proportions, resulting in a reduction of beetle predisposition that in turn was accompanied by increasing old-growth forest indicators. Disturbance predisposition was elevated in NFI plots with high avalanche and rockfall protection ***: by evaluating ESb and disturbance predisposition based on single-tree data at a national scale we bridged a gap between detailed, stand-scale assessments and

Leveraging the high resolution,sensitivity,and wide frequency coverage of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array(ALMA),the QUARKS survey,standing for“Querying Underlying mechanisms of massive star formation with ALMA-Resolved gas Kinematics and Structures”,is observing 139 massive starforming clumps at ALMA band 6(λ~1.3 mm).this paper introduces the Atacama Compact Array(ACA)7 m data of the QUARKS survey,describing the ACA observations and data *** multiwavelength data,we provide the first edition of QUARKS atlas,offering insights into the multiscale and multiphase interstellar medium in high-mass star *** ACA 1.3 mm catalog includes 207 continuum sources that are called ACA *** gas kinetic temperatures are estimated using three formaldehyde transitions with a non-LTE radiation transfer model,and the mass and density are derived from a dust emission *** ACA sources are massive(16–84 percentile values of 6–160 M_(⊙)),gravity-dominated(M∝R^(1.1))fragments within massive clumps,with supersonic turbulence(M>1)and embedded star-forming *** find a linear correlation between the masses of the fragments and the massive clumps,with a ratio of 6%between the *** considering fragments as representative of dense gas,the ratio indicates a dense gas fraction(DGF)of 6%,although with a wide scatter ranging from 1%to 10%.If we consider the QUARKS massive clumps to be what is observed at various scales,then the size-independent DGF indicates a self-similar fragmentation or collapsing mode in protocluster *** the ACA data over four orders of magnitude of luminosity-to-mass ratio(L/M),we find that the DGF increases significantly with L/M,which indicates clump evolutionary *** observed a limited fragmentation at the subclump scale,which can be explained by a dynamic global collapse process.

Evolutionary history and phylogeography of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in Europe based on molecular markers

In this review we summarized recent historical records and molecular studies on evolutionary history and phylogeography of Scots pine with focus on the European highly fragmented distribution area of the species. Fossilized pollen, plant micro- and macrofossil records provided evidences on the large-scale species’ range shifts and demographic changes during the Quaternary. Populations of Scots pine were documented b.th in the glacial (incl. full glaciation) and interglacial periods. Recolonization of Europe after the glaciation originated from the (Sub) Mediterranean areas like the balkan Peninsula but also from around the Eastern Alps and the surroundings of the Danube plain. Fennoscandia and northern European baltic regions were most probably colonized from two main directions, from Western Europe and from the Russian Plain. Modern history of Scots pine was hardly affected by anthropogenic activities that started to strengthen in the bronze and Iron Age. Along with the fossil records, molecular genetic tools were used to infer the origin and putative history including migration, differentiation and demography of the species. In this paper we compiled the major publications (30) of molecular genetic studies of the past 20 years derived from distinctly inherited organelle genomes (mitochondrial, chloroplast, nuclear) revealed by different marker systems (mtDNA-cox1, -nad1, -nad3, -nad7, ISSR, cpSSR, nSSR, b-SAP, SNP). It is important to consider that different phylogeographic patterns can be drawn by the analysis of different DNA marker types. Accordingly the use of more than one marker simultaneously outlines the most sophisticated phylogeographical pattern on the genetic lineages and can reveal high differentiation of the European distribution. Combined marker systems and markers derived from coding sequences have also been used to detect species’ phylogeographic patterns, but these were rarely applied to Scots pine. the study evaluated the growth performance and carcass quality of CObb500 broilers fed two experimental rations incorporating feed and mango fine EDb>10b> for a batch of 83 birds, EDb>20b> (batch of 83 birds) in comparison with a commercial control ration CCD (84 birds). For this purpose, 250 day-old chicks of this breed were purchased in Korhogo and transported to Tengréla in Ivory Coast for rearing. the results show that substituting mango provender ans and mango seed flour for maize resulted in rations with costs per kgMS of 215.35FCFA, 2016.93FCFA and 320FCFA for the EDb>10b>, EDb>20b> and CCD rations respectively. the production costs per kg of chicken (FCPkgLW) of the CCD ration were significantly higher than those of the ED10 and EDb>20b> (p 0.05). ADGs were significantly different and decreasing from CCD, EDb>20b> to EDb>10b> (p 0.05). Average weights at 42nd day for EDb>20b> and CCD were homogeneous (p > 0.05) and significantly higher than for EDb>10b> (p 0.05). by day 49th the average weight of EDb>20b> had reached and exceeded that of CCD by day 42nd. PSLW, HCW and CCW were significantly different and decreasing from CCW, EDb>20b> to EDb>10b> (p 0.05). biological treatment of chicken feather waste for improved biogas production

A two-stage system was developed which combines the biological degradation of keratin-rich waste with the production of biogas. Chicken feather waste was treated biologically with a recombinant bacillus megaterium strain showing keratinase activity prior to biogas production. Chopped, autoclaved chicken feathers （4%, W/V） were completely degraded, resulting in a yellowish fermentation broth with a level of 0.51 mg/mL soluble proteins after 8 days of cultivation of the recombinant strain. During the subsequent anaerobic batch digestion experiments, methane production of 0.35 Nm3/kg dry feathers （i.e., 0.4 Nm3/kg volatile solids of feathers）, corresponding to 80% of the theoretical value on proteins, was achieved from the feather hydrolyzates, independently of the pre- hydrolysis time period of 1, 2 or 8 days. Cultivation with a native keratinase producing strain, bacillus licheniformis resulted in only 0.25 mg/mL soluble proteins in the feather hydrolyzate, which then was digested achieving a maximum accumulated methane production of 0.31 Nm3/kg dry feathers. Feather hydrolyzates treated with the wild type b. megaterium produced 0.21 Nm3 CH4/kg dry feathers as maximum yield.

background:Proprioceptive accuracy refers to the individual’s ability to perceive proprioceptive information,that is,the information referring to the actual state of the locomotor system,which originates from mechanoreceptors located in various parts of the locomotor system and from tactile receptors located in the *** accuracy appears to be an important aspect in the evaluation of sensorimotor functioning;however,no widely accepted standard assessment *** this systematic review,our goal was to identify and categorize different methods that are used to assess different aspects of proprioceptive ***:A literature search was conducted in 5 different databases(PubMed,SPORTDiscus,PsycINFO,ScienceDirect,and SpringerLink).Results:Overall,1139 scientific papers reporting 1346 methods were included in this *** methods assess 8 different aspects of proprioception:(a)the perception of joint position,(b)movement and movement extent,(c)trajectory,(d)velocity,and the sense of(e)force,(f)muscle tension,(g)weight,and(h)*** apply various paradigms of psychophysics(i.e.,the method of adjustment,constant stimuli,and limits).Conclusion:As the outcomes of different tasks with respect to various body parts show no associations(i.e.,proprioceptive accuracy is characterized by site-specificity and method-specificity),the appropriate measurement method for the task needs to be chosen based on theoretical considerations and/or ecological validity.

Objectives: To study the change of CD16 + 56 in zona. Materials and Methods: 62 zona patients admitted at Inpatient Department of Dermatology, Venereology Allergy, 108 Military Central Hospital, and 30 healthy volunteers who were matched for age and sex participated in this study. Prospective, cross-sectional study with controls was conducted. We measured the number of CD16 + CD56 by flow cytometry using FACS Callibur. Results: the mean level of CD16 + 56 in zona patients was 253 ± 200 (106 cells/l), which was lower than that of control group but then increased after treatment. the change of CD16 + 56 did not correlate with patients’ age. Patients who were in severe condition or had affected size from 3% or more had a lower number of CD16 + 56 than control group. Conclusion: the number of CD16 + 56 in zona patients were lower than that of healthy people.

bACKGROUND Patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria(PNH)have a clonal population of blood cells deficient in glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored(GPIanchored)proteins,most of the time resulting from a mutation in the X-linked gene *** report a patient with PNH resulting from a rare biallelic PIGT mutation on chromosome *** SUMMARY A 47-year-old man was referred to our hospital for febrile *** patient reported a history of recurrent urticaria and arthralgia and he presented during 3 mo recurrent acute dermo-hypodermitis and aseptic *** on clinical cases published with PIGT-PNH,with clinically typical PNH and autoinflammatory symptoms,we treated our patients with repeated infusions of eculizumab to decrease autoinflammatory symptoms and then we performed an allogeneic stem cell transplantation(allo-SCT)with a mismatched unrelated *** patient experienced no acute Graft vs Host disease(GvHD)and a moderate chronic GvHD and is now considered cured at 24 mo after *** this case report suggests that allo-SCT should be considered to cure PIGT-PNH patients.
