Genotype×year interaction of pod and seed mass and stability of Pongamia pinnata families in a semi-arid region

Sixteen pongamia families were evaluated in a field experiment for eight consecutive years in dryland conditions to identify stable,high-yielding *** trial was conducted in a randomized complete block design with three *** family,consisting of nine trees per replication,was planted at a spacing of3 m x 3 *** stability was analyzed using(1)Eberhart and Russel’s regression coefficient(β_i)and deviation from regression(S_d^2),(2)Wrike’s ecovalence(W_i);(3)Shukla stability variance(σ_i^2);and(4)Piepho and Lotito’s stability index(L_i).Families were also analyzed for adaptability and stability using AMMI and GGE biplots graphical *** study revealed significant variances due to family and family x year interaction for pod and seed *** performed differently and ranked differently across *** performance of families was influenced by both genetic factor and environmental conditions in different *** families tested,TNMP20,Acc14,TNMP14 and Acc30 were high yielders for pods,and Acc14,Acc30,TNMP6,RAK19 and TNMP14 were high for seed *** to the Eberhart and Russell model,Acc30,TNMP14 and TNMP3 were stable across *** the graphical view of family x year interaction based on AMMI methods,TNMP3,TNMP4 and TNMP14 had greater stability with moderate seed yield,and Acc14 and Acc30 had moderate stability with high seed *** the other hand,GGE biplots revealed Acc14,Acc30 and TNMP14 as high yielders with moderate *** and GGE biplots were able to capture nonlinear parts of the family x year interaction that were not be captured by the Eberhart and Russel model while also identifying stable *** on different methodologies,Acc14,Acc30 and TNMP14 were identified as high yielding and stable families for promoting pongamia cultivation as a biofuel crop for semi-arid regions.

Spatio-temporal evaluation of Zr plasma parameters in a single-beam-splitting double-pulse laser-induced plasma

The plasma shielding effect is one of the major weaknesses of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIbS)as it causes non-linearity in signal *** LIbS is typically carried out in constant laser energy,this non-linearity causes a reduction in *** this work,we systematically examine laser-induced plasma,formed by two different excitation source modes,*** pulse(SP)-excitation and single-beam-splitting double-pulse(SbS-DP)-excitation over Zr-2.5%Nb *** two most important plasma parameters influencing the emission line intensity,plasma temperature(Te)and electron density(Ne)were studied and compared for both modes of laser *** of the results conclusively demonstrates that due to the splitting of the laser energy in the SbS-DP mode,the plasma shielding effect is significantly *** reduced plasma shielding translates to an increased laser–sample coupling under SbS-DP *** imaging of the total intensity of the laser-induced plasma in both excitation modes was also *** study shows how the plasma shielding effect can be reduced to improve the analytical quality of the LIbS methodology.

Flow through submerged rigid vegetation has been studied both analytically and *** Reynolds stress,present in the governing equation,has been modeled using one of the turbulent stress equations,adopted in numerous *** adva ntage of this turbulent stress model is to replace the mixing length non linear term of the stress with a linear relatio n between stress and the velocity *** velocity field and shear stress are obtained by solving the governing force balance equation numerically.A correlation,validated with the experimental results,has been developed for the relevant non-dimensional numbers.

Laser-induced plasma electron number density:Stark broadening method versus the Saha-boltzmann equation

We report spectroscopic studies on plasma electron number density of laser-induced plasma produced by ns-Nd：YAG laser light pulses on an aluminum sample in air at atmospheric pressure. The effect of different laser energy and the effect of different laser wavelengths were compared. The experimentally observed line profiles of neutral aluminum have been used to extract the excitation temperature using the boltzmann plot method, whereas the electron number density has been determined from the Stark broadened as well as using the Saha-boltzmann equation （SbE）. Each approach was also carried out by using the AI emission line and Mg emission lines. It was observed that the,SbE method generated a little higher electron number density value than the Stark broadening, method, but within the experimental uncertainty range. Comparisons of Ne determined by the two methods show the presence of a linear relation which is independent of laser energy or laser wavelength. These results show the applicability of the SbE method for Are determination, especially when the system does not have any pure emission lines whose electron impact factor is known, Also use of Mg lines gives superior results than Al lines.

On Universality of Quantum Fourier Transform

A methodology is presented to obtain the basis of qudits which are admissible to quantum Fourier transform(QFT)in the sense that the set of such kets are related by the QFT in the same way as the kets of the computational *** first study this method for qubits to characterize the ensemble that works for the Hadamard transformation(QFT for two dimension).In this regard we identify certain incompleteness in the result of Maitra and Parashar(*** Inform.4(2006)653).Next we characterize the ensemble of qutrits for which QFT is ***,some theoretical results related to higher dimensions are also *** the unitary matrix Un related to QFT,the issue boils down to the problem of characterizing matrices that commute with Un.

A remote sensing based analysis of climate change in Sikkim supported by evidence from the field

The Himalayas hailed as the‘water towers of the world’feed many perennial rivers which form the lifeline of the Indian *** change induced rising global temperatures and changing rainfall patterns are currently threatening the glaciers that feed the *** combination of these factors is causing water stresses to a part of the world which is usually considered water *** there are some large-scale studies done in the Himalayas,regional analysis of changing rainfall patterns and their impacts on vegetation and agriculture is *** we focus on the Indian state of Sikkim located in the Eastern Himalayas to evaluate these issues using mixed *** use satellite data from PERSIANN and MODIS to characterise the regional rainfall,vegetation,and surface temperature trends between 2001 and *** the analysis shows overall declining rainfall trends across most land cover classes,the trends in temperature are mostly positive for the period of study,with winter Land Surface Temperature(LST)values showing the largest area with marginally significant(pbserved for ***,the interviews corroborate that even agriculture is impacted,implying that the trends continue at finer spatial scales *** lack of government support for adaptation and mitigation is also lamented placing the communities at a precarious position to continuing climate change.

In the recent times sodium ion batteries(SIbs)have come to the forefront as an economic and resourceful alternative to lithium-ion batteries(LIbs)for powering portable electronic devices and large-scale grid *** the specific capacity,energy density and long cycle life of batteries depend upon the performance of anode materials;their quest is the ultimate need of the *** the anode materials,the semimetallic pnictogens(As,Sb,bi)and their compounds offer high gravimetric/volumetric capacities,but suffer from undesired volume expansion and inferior electrical ***,this paper reviews the recent progress in semimetallic pnictogens as alloying anodes and their compounds mainly as conversion-alloying *** debatable sodiation mechanisms(intercalation or alloying)have been presented with emphasis on in situ/ex situ advanced characterization methods well supported by theoretical modeling and *** reviewed electrochemical reaction mechanisms,coherent structural designs and engineering provide a vital understanding of the electrochemical processes of Na^(+) ion *** existing challenges and perspectives are also presented,and several research directions are proposed from the aspects of special morphological design,employing conductive substrates,electrolyte additives and reducing particle size for technical and commercial success of SIbs.

Dual response of graphene-based ultra-small molecular junctions to defect engineering

It has been reported that N and b doping induce a quasi-bound state that suppresses the conduction in graphene nanoribbon （GNR）-based junctions, while an H defect or a pyridine-like N-atom （PN） substitution at the edge of the GNR does not affect the transmission close to the Fermi energy. However, these results may vary when the size of the functional unit of the GNR junction decreases to a molecular level. In this study, a defect is introduced to a test-bed architecture consisting of a polyacene bridging two zigzag GNR electrodes, which changes the molecular state alignment and coupling to the electrode states, and varies the equivalence between two eigen-channels at the Fermi level. It is revealed that b and N atom substitution, and H defects play a dual role in the molecular conductance, whereas the PN substitution acts as an ineffective dopant. The results obtained from density functional theory combined with the non-equilibrium Green＇s function method aid in determining the optimal design for the GNR-based ultra-small molecular devices via defect engineering.
