Ultrafast terahertz emission from emerging symmetry-broken materials

Nonlinear optical spectroscopies are powerful tools for investigating both static material properties and light-induced ***(THz)emission spectroscopy has emerged in the past several decades as a versatile method for directly tracking the ultrafast evolution of physical properties,quasiparticle distributions,and order parameters within bulk materials and nanoscale *** optically-induced THz radiation is often analyzed mechanistically in terms of relative contributions from nonlinear polarization,magnetization,and various transient free charge *** this offers material-specific insights,more fundamental symmetry considerations enable the generalization of measured nonlinear tensors to much broader classes of *** thus frame the present discussion in terms of underlying broken symmetries,which enable THz emission by defining a system directionality in space and/or time,as well as more detailed point group symmetries that determine the nonlinear response *** this framework,we survey a selection of recent studies that utilize THz emission spectroscopy to uncover basic properties and complex behaviors of emerging materials,including strongly correlated,magnetic,multiferroic,and topological *** then turn to low-dimensional systems to explore the role of designer nanoscale structuring and corresponding symmetries that enable or enhance THz *** serves as a promising route for probing nanoscale physics and ultrafast light-matter interactions,as well as facilitating advances in integrated THz ***,the interplay between intrinsic and extrinsic material symmetries,in addition to hybrid structuring,may stimulate the discovery of exotic properties and phenomena beyond existing material paradigms.

Kinetics and mechanistic study of n-alkane hydroisomerization reaction on Pt-doped g-alumina catalyst

The catalysts g-alumina(GA,the reference catalyst)and Pt doped g-alumina(PGA-s)were synthesized using a simple sol-gel technique,in which at first preparation of porous base(GA),then impregnation of platinum salt over the base and finally reduction of platinum in the surface of the support were *** catalysts prepared in different mole ratios of Pt:Al as 2:1,1:1 and 1:2 are named as PGA-1,PGA-2 and PGA-3 *** isomerization of n-alkanes(n-hexane,nheptane and n-octane)were investigated over the synthesized *** 2-methyl pentane(2-MP),2,2-dimethyl pentane(2,2-DMP)and 2,3-dimethyl hexane(2,3-DMH)are the major products of respective isomerization of n-hexane,n-heptane and n-octane,besides a small amount of other branched isomers are also *** product distribution is comparable to that reported for Pt based other *** optimal mole ratios of Pt:Al is 1:1(PGA-2)gives quite good catalytic activity for isomerization of *** through in reusability study,PGA-2 gives better performance than *** have mainly focused on kinetic study,reaction mechanism behind isomerization and calculated the order of reactions and activation energies of the isomerization reactions in the present work.

In Computer-Aided Detection(CAD)brain disease classification is a vital ***’s Disease(AD)and brain tumors are the primary reasons of *** studies of these diseases are carried out by Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI),Positron Emission Tomography(PET),and Computed Tomography(CT)scans which require expertise to understand the *** disease is the most prevalent in the elderly and can be fatal in its later *** result can be determined by calculating the mini-mental state exam score,following which the MRI scan of the brain is *** from that,various classification algorithms,such as machine learning and deep learning,are useful for diagnosing MRI ***,they do have some limitations in terms of *** paper proposes some insightful pre-processing methods that significantly improve the classification performance of these MRI ***,it reduced the time it took to train the model of various pre-existing learning algorithms.A dataset was obtained from Alzheimer’s Disease Neurological Initiative(ADNI)and converted from a 4D format to a 2D *** clipping,grayscale image conversion,and histogram equalization techniques were used to pre-process the *** pre-processing,we proposed three learning algorithms for AD classification,that is random forest,XGboost,and Convolution Neural Networks(CNN).Results are computed on dataset and show that it outperformed with exiting work in terms of accuracy is 97.57%and sensitivity is 97.60%.

Magnesium/Lithium Hybrid batteries based on SnS_(2)-MoS_(2) with Reversible Conversion Reactions

The magnesium/lithium hybrid batteries(MLHbs)featuring dendrite-less deposition with Mg anode and Li-storage cathode are a promising alternative to Li-ion batteries for large-scale energy ***,their limited energy density limits their practical *** improve this,beyond the commonly proposed intercalation compounds,high-capacity conversion-type cathodes based on heterostructures of tin sulphide-molybdenum disulphide(SnS_(2)-MoS_(2))are proposed in this *** SnS_(2) is already a promising high-capacity electrode material for multivalent batteries and undergoes conversion reactions during the ion storage *** introduction of S-deficient MoS_(2) enhances the reversibility of SnS_(2) in the conversion reaction via strong polysulfide anchoring and catalytic *** results show that the SnS_(2)-MoS_(2) electrode achieves a high charge capacity of~600 mAhg^(-1) at 50mAg^(-1) and an excellent rate capability of 240mAhg^(-1) at 1000mAhg^(-1) with a negligible capacity fading rate of 0.063%per cycle across 1000 *** results highlight a new direction toward designing 2D heterostructures as high-capacity cathodes beyond intercalation-type cathodes for multivalent-ion batteries.

Comparison of long-term outcome between patients aged 〈 65 years vs. ≥ 65 years after atrial fibrillation ablation

background Atrial fibrillation （AF） is the most frequent arrhythmia, and its prevalence is increasing with aging. We aimed to com-pare the long-term outcome data of patients 〈 65 years vs.≥ 65 years who underwent catheter ablation （CA） for drug-refractory AF. MethodsConsecutive patients with primary pulmonary vein isolation performed between March 2001 and December 2011, and those who completeda five-year of follow-up were divided into two groups： patients aged 〈 65 years into group 1, and patients aged ≥ 65 into group 2. Long-termoutcome data concerning mortality, thromboembolic events （TE） and success rates were compared between these groups. Results A totalnumber of 390 patients were included, group 1 contained 310 patients, and 80 patients in group 2. In group 2, patients had more often impairedrenal function （P 〈 0.001） and thyroid disease （P = 0.047）. A total of fifteen patients died during the 6.63 ± 2.1 years of follow-up, with a sig-nificantly higher incidence in the older group （8/80 vs. 7/310 patients, P = 0.004）. The majority of fatal outcome was due to cancerous dis-eases in both groups. No difference was observed concerning the long-term TE rate （12/310 vs. 4/80 patients, P = 0.75）. Rhythm controlfailed in 25.9% of the patients, with no difference between the groups： 26.4% in group 1 vs. 23.7% in group 2 （P = 0,67）, ConclusionsDespite growing prevalence of AF in aging population, the elderly patients are underrepresented in CA procedures. Similar clinical successand TE complication rate are observed between the age-groups. Our data suggest more liberal criteria might be applied while selecting pa-tients for AF ablation.

Antidiabetic and Antioxidant Activities of Plumbago zeylanica Roots in Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats

Objective: The concurrent usage of oral hypoglycemic agents produces side effects, and the herbal medicine Plumbago zeylanica L.(PZ)is being studied to reduce these effects. The antioxidant and antidiabetic effects of PZ roots on streptozotocin-nicotinamide-induced diabetic rats were investigated. Materials and Methods: Triple maceration method was used for the development of PZ extracts. Standardization of the plant extract and in vitro study was carried out by the physicochemical study, 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl, and α-amylase *** were divided into seven groups, and the experiment was designed into two parts. Seven groups were taken normal control, diabetic control, hydroalcoholic extract of PZ at different doses(100–200 mg/kg), and metformin(MET, 25 mg/kg) for 21 days. The coadministration of a low dose of PZ(100 mg/kg) and MET(100 mg/kg) was administered orally. blood glucose level(bGL) was measured continuously for 3 weeks of overnight-fasted animals. biochemical estimation was assessed by total protein, catalase, nitric oxide, and reduced glutathione content. Histological features of the β-cells were observed through histopathological study. Results: Hydroalcoholic PZ(HAPZ) showed the highest antioxidant and antidiabetic activities, respectively. Oral administration of HAPZ extract(200 mg/ml) for 21 days diminished the bGL significantly from 298 ± 7.05 to 230 ± 5.69 mg/dL, whereas coadministration of HAPZ(100 mg/kg) with MET(10 mg/kg) also reduced bGL from 286 ± 4.10 to 231 ± 5.75 mg/dL. The best outcomes were obtained when PZ extract(100 mg/kg) was combined with a low dose of MET(10 mg/kg). Conclusions: We can conclude that PZ might be the alternative to synthetic medicines for the management of diabetic disorders.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and its advanced complication,non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),have become leading causes of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)*** this review,we discuss the role of metabolic,gut microbial,immune and endocrine mediators which promote the progression of NAFLD to *** particular,this progression involves multiple hits resulting from lipotoxicity,oxidative stress,inhibition of hepatic autophagy and ***,dysbiosis in the gut associated with obesity also promotes HCC via induction of proinflammatory cytokines and Toll like receptor signalling as well as altered bile ***,compromised T-cell function and impaired hepatic hormonal action promote the development of NASH-associated ***,we discuss the current challenges involved in the diagnosis and treatment of NAFLD/NASH-associated HCC.

Nested deep transfer learning for modeling of multilayer thin films

Machine-learning techniques have gained popularity in nanophotonics research, being applied to predict optical properties, and inversely design structures. However, one limitation is the cost of acquiring training data, as complex structures require time-consuming simulations. To address this, researchers have explored using transfer learning, where pretrained networks can facilitate convergence with fewer data for related tasks, but application to more difficult tasks is still limited. In this work, a nested transfer learning approach is proposed, training models to predict structures of increasing complexity, with transfer between each model and few data used at each step. This allows modeling thin film stacks with higher optical complexity than previously reported. For the forward model, a bidirectional recurrent neural network is utilized, which excels in modeling sequential inputs. For the inverse model, a convolutional mixture density network is employed. In both cases, a relaxed choice of materials at each layer is introduced, making the approach more versatile. The final nested transfer models display high accuracy in retrieving complex arbitrary spectra and matching idealized spectra for specific application-focused cases, such as selective thermal emitters, while keeping data requirements modest. Our nested transfer learning approach represents a promising avenue for addressing data acquisition challenges.
